I've made 5 libraries with Orchestral Tools now, and I know how long it takes (and how many people it takes!) to edit samples and get first builds done. It's immense, and I'm not usually even dealing with the big orchestral, multi layered libraries, which can be in development for 12 months with a team of people working on them! Respect to anyone who takes the task on themselves, but at some point I'd be asking (for my own sanity probably) whether the time spent was better traded for a small team to get things done faster.
Hello guys. Thanks for the brief overview of the possibility of creating your own libraries. It's really interesting! Good luck and see you soon! Regards, Yaroslav.
The first and best place to start is the KSP reference manual that comes with kontakt. Most examples of simple bits of code are in there, and it’s definitely the first step to understanding how the code works. There are also a few websites and blogs out there that show those examples off really well too. You can get a long way in the UI with some basic knobs and text. As for good techniques, the best is preparation before recording, which didn’t apply to me here! 😂 But generally the more prep you do, the clearer a score is for a player, the more time you save and the better the recordings are. That makes the editing easier too - quality going in to the recording means less editing and less ‘fixing’ later. Personally, I find editing in pro tools speeds this whole process up too.
We can always hope for more interesting BONUS episodes like this one between seasons. We do hope Season 2 planning is underway! This is the first deep dive I've seen in how to use Kontakt to create a sample library.
I would say this is a fairly shallow dive! 😅But if you liked it then there are some really great videos out there on making things for Kontakt, and as I mentioned in our 'free samples' episode, making your own custom instruments is so worth the time and effort. So it's a good rabbit hole to go down!
I am very much enjoying your videos. They are educational, informative and entertaining. They are also pleasantly light, joyful and positive. They inspire me to go and play in my DAW every-time!
You have all my respect and gratitude. I am so glad that I found this channel because the content is super useful. Also thank you for providing us the vst!
Can u do one video on how to send a score from beep to beep properly to sound mixing engineer I'm facing issue to put beep to beep in score using fl studio What is the process for beep
As always, thank you for the great video! I would love to learn more on sampling. Especially on the sampler side. I really want to learn how Kontakt works, how samples are organized in Kontakt, how signals are routed, and control sounds by scripting (such as how legatos, round robins, release samples are controlled, etc.). Maybe too much for free videos haha. But those knowledges would be valuable for me to fix problems in some sample libraries or modify them creatively. Or maybe one day I would my own library and sell them :). Also it would be fun to know how SINE player (and maybe other plugins) works inside and how it was built! (not sure whether this is related to the topics of this channel... But I have some engineering background so I am quite curious about it!)
Hello! My name is Evgeny! Thank you and Clara for the wonderful work you have done! Unfortunately I don't have the full version of Kontact, but I program a bit in Decent Sampler. Can I use your Cello samples to create a library in this sampler? Of course, I'm not going to sell or upload the resulting library for download. If you are interested, I can send it to you and you can also provide it for downloading and using on your channel. Thank you again and wish you success in any good deed!
Seeing all this made me respect Jesper Blunk of performance samples even more.

Thanks for this incredible gift!
I would love to hear about good techniques for making sample libraries, and how to script a simple UI for them

Great content! It's always really interesting to see the 'behind the scene' of the creating something. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you 😊
This library is just awesome! I love the Harmonic Slides!!
Excellent series. Thank you.

How long did it take you to make all those edits?!?!
About 2 working days including file naming :)
