    The mustard bbq with Brunswick stew…Or hash over rice. Had it many years ago while fishing for monster catfish at Santee Cooper(Santee SC, Cross SC, Eutawville etc) and still think about it….
    Also, highly, HIGHLY recommend The Pretty Place in Cleveland South Carolina! Look it up. Worth a stop for sure.
    Agree on the heat. Been to the spoleto music festival in Charleston a couple times and even in EARLY June, that heat is oppressive! I live in GA so I’m used to heat and humidity BUT Charleston has a special kind of heat and humidity 😂🫠

      We leave lived in SC for 5 years now and we do not like it at all. There's a lot of racism, especially in the work place and my husband is a medical professional. They will get you the 1st year on property taxes because UNTIL you actually live HERE for 1 year, you are not considered a legal resident. Also be prepared to pay out the nose to get tags and just for a title change to get tags, you have to get another title for your vehicle. Well that's around $300! Yes I did say $300. If you have ANY MEDICAL ISSUES, SC healthcare is terrible. And I do mean terrible! They are 20 years behind in knowledge altogether. Expect to pay VERY high auto insurance also. It's because of ALL the drunk drivers! In 1 year (last year 2022) there were over 1300 deaths related to alcohol! That's an insane amount. I believe I know WHY ppl drink so much however. It's because of the healthcare system! And if you like anything done quickly, forget it! Ive been waiting for a surgery for close to a year! It's True...I have broken spinal hardware, 2 broken spinal rods and a fusion, and STILL can't get a surgery! Oh that's another thing about SC you WILL find quite annoying, frustrating, probably illegal also, but everything is based on who you know, your kin, your kins kin. You won't get anything unless you have kin, then u r good to go! Oh and folks about the Southern hospitality.... we've not found very much of that HERE at all. Oh and unfortunately the war that happened eon's ago, well it STILL silently rages on, but it's kept hush hush. If you are from the North you WILL be treated differently. The BUGS, ok that's a very scary thing because IDC where you are, in the ritziest place, richest neighborhood, you WILL HAVE COCKROACHES. No they may call them Palmetto bugs, but they are good old fashioned cockroaches. Oh and they are planning on imposing a new YANKEE TAX, yes you heard me right, a Yankee tax! If it weren't for the tourists which SC DEPENDS ON, they wouldn't have anything, it's a very poor state with not a lot of resources - sad to say. And IF you STILL plan on moving HERE, please make sure that you are not in a flood zone! I could go on actually but I need to call everyone that I called yesterday and the day before, they don't get things done in a timely manner, lose documents, don't call back, forget you even exist really, so you HAVE to check up on everything you submit, all calls, everything period. I would go on but like I said I have to redo what I've done yesterday! Ahh the good ol South with the good ol boy system. BTW, WE CAN'T WAIT TO MOVE!

    Charleston is a fantastic place... for people with money. I've never had such an expensive vacation. 4 days there didn't even compare to 7 days at a Myrtle beach hotel with a water park inside it. They have absolutely no fast food restaurants. No cheap places. The tours are great but outrageous.
    Charleston truly is one of a kind, and you'll love it. Ghost tours, Fort Sumter, USS Yorktown, Magnolia Cemetery, they're all fantastic. Go after the middle of August.

    when i was 10 i believe my uncle moved his family from philadelphia to spartanburg s.c., those 5 years he lived there we went to visit them every spring break and during the trip we'd spend a couple days in charleston and a couple days in sullivans island. i loved going there so much so that eventually as a grown adult the very first trip i paid for with my own money was to charleston s.c. with a girlfriend, i've returned a few times even since then including with my eventual wife! i'd say go in the spring or fall, especially spring late april in charleston is great.

      The dry heat in Texas doesn't compare to the humidity of the southeast.

    • @thullraven1
      @thullraven1 Год назад

      @@dan-patrickobrien3580 It does when it's 110 degrees, and it's only a dry heat in West Texas where the desert is. The rest of the state is pretty humid if you get out of the panhandle and desert of West Texas. The Gulf Coast and East Texas are both very humid. At least the Gulf coast can get a good breeze off the Gulf sometimes, but not East Texas. I've lived in all three so I can compare them from personal experience. BTW, Phoenix and Tuscon are places with '"dry" heat as is Death Valley. More people die from heat exposure in those areas than in the Southeast because in dry areas you also get dehydrated rapidly and don't realize it. I was stationed in the desert in the military and saw that happen a lot. You sweat a lot more in humid heat which is actually a good thing because it means your body is regulating heat better.
