I will argue that Perfect Dark N64 still rivals games today. The story, the music, the customization, the bots... Absolutely surreal and so ahead of it's time. PDZ was a complete mockery. They need to make a serious remake... The music still entrances me to this day and I have never found a game that allowed the same level of character and bot customization down to their behaviors..
The Chicago theme song was my favorite from Perfect Dark and I'm a big cyberpunk fan. This really fits both so well and I can't stop listening to this 😌
I played N64 heavily in the late 90s / early 00s. My friend didn't get an N64 until mid 00s, and I remember going over to his house after Perfect Dark was already "old news", and he was playing one of the later levels, and in my head, I was like "shoot, I should have finished this game" because it just looked so awesome. I knew I missed out on something great. For FPS games, I played Goldeneye 007 the most when I had my N64, and even though I had Perfect Dark back then, it mostly collected dust. EDIT: Forgot to conclude LOL -- basically, Chicago is my favorite Perfect Dark track that I missed out on... it captures the game's greatness.
I can still hear the sirens from the police cars so clearly to this day even though I havent actually heard them for decades. Crazy just how sharp some memories are and others so insanely fuzzy.
