I always felt that Perfect Dark had an awesome soundtrack in general but this track is one of the first ones that comes to mind whenever I think about the soundtrack for this game. Hearing or thinking about this track years later now takes me back to my twelve year old self and makes me remember how life was like back then. That was a really good time to be alive as a kid.
@goukimaster353 oh they have the tech since 1954, its just not release to the public yet for obvious macro economic and socio economic greed and power
Friends used to get annoyed at me because I always set it to this theme during multiplayer. It's such a soft, quiet piece. You're playing late at night, the music is lulling you into a sleepy daze, then suddenly the Dark Sim pops out and obliterates you in a loud blaze of gunfire that snaps you awake.
Lmfao Im crying laughing dawg ours was always set to just random bcuz we didn't give a shit about the music we had too many other customs my fav thing to this day you could create multiple setups for diff multi lobbies and save em all then just quick start on whatever the fucking old days bro
After 20 years of a crazy rollercoaster in life, 15 years of relationships, one marriage, drug addiction, near death experience and much more I come back to this song just to get the chills again. There are not many songs that give me "the" feeling I used to get as a teenager while walking 15-20km during the night in heavy rain alongside the highway in a dead silent city... This brings back so much more than just simple memories...
Still one of the best FPS of all time. The music, the weapons, the difficulty, everything was perfect about this game. I wish games could be made like this again. I'm so sick of COD fanboys bashing good games. I'll be willing to bet that if they ever played this they would never play COD again.
Since i play shooters on PC i think shooters should always be played on PC with Mouse and keyboard But then coming across perfect dark again Having the title of my first shooter ever played at my friends house Replayed it on emulator Well the controls and graphics are bad but everything else more than makes up for it Everything else is just perfect and no modern game gets close to it weapon felling and unikness stuff like the laptop gun, or the selfdestruct gun Animation level design Even decent destruction
Soundtrack to walking in the rain, sitting watching the rain from a nice warm spot. Especially hits hard in a city / busy suburban area where neon lights can be seen. Crazy how music can have that effect 🤯
Listening to this in my moonlit room. The music lights up regions of my brain. It takes me back to the age of innocence, evoking emotions of peace and serenity. A slight grin charms my face, i close my eyes and yawn. The music envelopes me. It surrounds me with all too familiar sounds and emotions. I can feel the cool plastic of the perfectly molded N64 controller. My finger gently laying on the trigger. The sound of rain patting Chicago's streets. I shoot the nearest light source...let's begin.
Uncle knocks on the door. "Are you asleep son?" He enters and wordlessly he picks up a second controller. He stares at you in the eye until you start the game again on co-operative. Then he costs you the mission. After losing for the 10th time, you put the controller down. Uncle tells you "Not a word of this to anyone." You turn away from him and lie down under your bed covers. Uncle walsk downstairs and you can hear him joke with his buddies about how he had to carry you through the game, and how young 'uns don't know nuthin. A single tear rolls down your cheek. As you lay there in the dark, choking on rage, trembling with the unfairness of it all, you make a silent promise. _"One day....I'll make you scream, Uncle."_
it kinda sucks cause i was so young when i played this game, i didn't realize the N64 games, very much including Perfect Dark, had truly quality campaigns. Now i look back and compare them with the campaigns coming out today, and there is LITERALLY no comparison. I MISS YOU N64 DAYS! COME BACK TO US!!
This was always my favourite theme, and level to hang out in and take in the atmosphere. I used to break into the empty strip club (you have to get the guard inside to open the doors) and just stay there listening to the rain and this tune. It was so noir!
This game has the best storyline than any other game ever made, If you imagine yourself walking in chicago on a rainy night, this music would fit excactly into that moment. Perfect Dark has one of the best soundtracks in an FPS period.
This is my favorite tune in the game! :) I love Perfect Dark! And I noticed the playlist it says best video game music of the 2000's.... What?! this is the best video game music ever MADE!
The time I'd spend on this level and air-force one as a kid with cheat codes and unlimited ammo trying to kill the robot and trent easton with every gun possible... I knew it was hopeless but I liked making 10 mines explode on them while shooting endlessly with the laptop gun.
I remeber the first time i encountered the guard robot, it shot at me, and i put two magazines worth of ammo into it and didn't scratch it. Major "oh crud" moment 😂
GOOD times with this game when I was young, I remember i had to ask my dad to beat this level and some others for me...mostly becuz i was scared for my life when i heard the floating sentry gun shooting at me yelling STOP... I will never forget this game... My first FPS EVAR.
i remember me and my lil' sister playing this game together back in the day . . . the best memories. golden eye, mario go kart, diddy kong racing, and perfect dark . . . made me close with my sisters.

So nostalgic... It reminds you of all the fond memories you have gotten from this game... Perfect dark --> COD!! This will be my favorite shooter game ever.
I regreet not hearing this earlier.....I had Perfect Dark in my Nintendo 64 Libary.....Never finnished the 2nd or 3rd level. Booted up 1964 emulator ( which lets you play with keyboard and mouse ) Got to this level turned up audio to max xD
I can see myself now...sitting in a low lit room, grin on my face. I turn every street corner with caution, placing the crosshair on heads. Keeping it quiet and cool. Bypassing the security bot and showing mercy to the detectives that surrender. When suddenly Mom yells that dinner is ready. So I pause and walk out of the room feeling like a spy. I miss those days....:(
"STOP WHERE YOU ARE!" When I heard that with the following laser fire as a kid, it gave me nightmares. Also, the definite best line of this game is from "Air Base - Espionage" when one of the bodyguards by the escalators says "You shouldn't have come here girl!"
Agreed. It has a peaceful vibe to it that makes it okay, like, these people just have to die for the good of humanity. Sure it's sad, but no time for hissy-fittin' around.
Soon as it plays, hands on my face, oh, the nostalgia. I still have the Official Players Guide and the Prima Secrets, Walkthrough Guide. I have to get an N64 again or get this on Xbox Live. Played this a lot with my childhood friend that I haven't seen in years. I miss those days.
This is probably the best song on the whole soundtrack, which is a fat compliment, and when I listen to it now, I'm actually more excited for the new Perfect Dark game than I even got during the preview. Here's hoping they can capture the same mysterious, dark, retro energy as the first.
Well the games that were out during my time were a piece of shit... Hell's yeah it's outdated, I don't play or listen to anything new. I probably know more about 70's and 80's music, cars, games, and much more than the people that actually lived it. And for your information, playing this game with my dad was the only fun thing I did with him before he committed suicide. So thank you for making me make that clear
Hey man I'm really sorry to hear about your dad bro! I'm glad you can at least appreciate a good game man and if you were having fun with the game, hey that's all that matters! Fuck Justin Osborne and his ignorant ass comments, who cares how old you were or when the game came out, at least you were having fun and so sorry to hear about your dad bro may he rest in peace.
Actually it is effective, but it's kind of hard to see the difference. While the game was still in alpha, they wanted to introduce a feature called Perfect Head, whic would allow you to use the gameboy camera to take pictures of people and use their face in the game. Turns out the development team used it to put their faces in the game before removing the feature. Activating the cheat will make it so only the team's heads appear in game.
@EmperorNero7777 I remember walking home from a friend's in the rain, carrying my metal toy pistol as we'd just spent the afternoon after school playing a gun game with eachother, and this song just popped into my head. I really did feel like a G5 Guard. lol The songs sounds so weird without the rain noise ontop of it.
And the original Joanna was the best in my view. She was supposed to look boyish because her name comes from the French Jeanne D'Arc, (Joan of Arc) who used to wear mens clothes and armor. I spit on the stupid Ginger spice striped hair effect of Perfect Dark Zero. Its a shame that even in the redone original for Xbox they didn't keep her original look.
Everytime I'm walking outside and it's raining, this music plays in my head.

Grant Kirkhope is a great composer. The music matches the rainy and stormy atmosphere in the Chicago level very well.
While still including one of the main melodic themes for the game!
as well as Graeme Norgate

This song is great on its own, but accompanied with Chicago 2023's visuals throughout the level, it's breathtaking. Cyberpunk art at its best.
fuck we are in 2023 an still no flying police cars ! XD
2023 heck yeah
@goukimaster353 oh they have the tech since 1954, its just not release to the public yet for obvious macro economic and socio economic greed and power

This brings tears of joy. N64 & GameCube's era were the best for me.
As much as I love the GameCube it just had something missing for me. RARE.
