    Depression comes in varying degrees and just because it’s not as bad as uve felt before doesn’t mean it’s any less serious. Take care of ur self and don’t worry about us too much. We all love happy over the top hinata-esquires Vic and unmotivated sad and emotionally open Vic. do what u need to to feel how u want and it’s ok not to feel amazing all the time.💜💜

    I've definitely felt the same way sometimes. For me I've found it's because I set high expectations and standards to the point where instead of exciting me it overwhelms me and then I never end up meeting the expectations I set for that day or event and I'll end up laying in bed for hours. This also makes me upset with myself because I'm not being "productive enough". But then again, rest is just as important as being productive. Accepting it is easier said than done, especially if you're someone that sets really high goals for yourself and you end up not being able to meet those goals in a set amount of time. I'm still learning how to cope with this and so many others are doing the same. You're not alone.

    Hey, Victoria! A HH here! Personally, I believe that its OKAY to do nothing whether that be for a day or longer.
    Everyone has breakdowns, some more than others. Ive had them before and even for no reason sometimes too. I like to think that when they happen its just the body's way of saying: "Hey! Like I need this break! I need to just relax, de-stress, let loose and do whatever I need so that YOU can get back to be active and busy and passionate about life!" Thats how I look at these moments. Maybe I'm just an optimistic person lol
    Thats what I like to believe doing more than you are capable or going "plus ultra" for everything you do can be tough and life is tough as it is. If this does happen to be depression, then seeking help is good.
    In this day and age, I believe people are more understanding of mental health issues and support one another more in these times then they did in the past. So if you, need to take a break to recover mentally then go for it! HH and non-volleyball fans are ALWAYS here for YOU!

I want you to know a few months ago I wasn’t motivated to play volleyball at all even though I wanted to but I came across your videos and you motivated me, thanks for that and I’m so sorry you feel this way.

    I understand where you are coming from , I suffer from that too and sometimes I don't feel like doing anything, and don't enjoy what I used to like, or feel sad and worthless, what usually works for me is spending time with friends or people close to me , PLEASE make time for yourself and take a break (if you want to), put your health above all else

    I've been following you since February, and since then, watching your videos, I felt that you were my older sister, who taught me all sorts of techniques, watched performances and haikyuu next to me. and due to the fact that I live in Russia, the time of the video release coincided with my time, so I watched them early in the morning over breakfast. I'm so glad I found out about you, you're beautiful.
    I perfectly understand how you feel. it's good that you are honest with yourself and you don't delay a visit to the doctor. I wish you all the best. I'll be rooting for you :3💞

    Hi vic, I have chronicle depression and I tottally understand you. If I had a bad day or something happens in my life I feel that way too. Its chronicle so it wont dissapear or heal. So I had to deal with it myself or get help. I was in depression for like a 4 year and I didnt even realised I was in depression. I thought it was my personality.When it hit me, my family took me too see a doctor then I learnt I had depression for years and lived with it. It was too hard for me. And eventually I healed w help but its not a permenant recovery for me. Recently I failed my collage exam and Now I have to repeat a whole year and study for it like crazy. I wont have a social life, fun times, decent sleep etc. Now I totally feel like you. I dont wanna get up,go out,eat meals... I dont even know my depression is repeating but it doesnt feel that bad like before. So... I just wanna say you are not alone, Idk how can I support you but you are amazing. I feel like you are my big sister that I never had. Im so glad you exist! You cheer me up, you give me life lessons. Im just so happy to know you! Remember this times wont last forever. You will recover, YOU ARE STRONG!

    Last time I went at a lake house, I went paddle boarding and I lost my glasses in the lake and I couldn’t find them. also lost my ear buds in the same day.

    honestly ive been feeling extremely insecure and weirdly sad this week too. ive been constantly degrading myself, cursing at myself, hating on myself. ive been having extremely bad body image days and bad hair days and ive grown to hate my face. its gotten so bad to the point where i lay in bed all day thinking about how ugly i am. i cant even look in the mirror without flinching and crying every time. thank you for this- it makes me feel like im not alone

    I feel whenever i have too many "great plans" it makes me feel pressured and it pulls the switch to depression for me. What helps me in that situation is to keep low with my expectations, like do things i really want or things that relax me, like reading. Not forcing anything, not questioning myself too much over my feelings...basically just settling down for a few days

    I had this feeling for quite a few weeks early in my life. I guess it was easier for me to get distracted because I was still in school. Honestly, distractions do help. Watching something you like (even if it's a repeat), reading your favorites, maybe even go on a nature trip and stay away from city life for a couple of days. But maybe it's a way I used to deal with it in my conditions. It might not necessarily be the same thing, but talk to someone you really trust and someone you know who aren't judgemental. Do anything, but never ever swallow away the emotions or the feelings you are feeling. That's the worst thing one can do. Be strong vic. More power to you ❤️

    I relate to this so much! I have gone through these periods of feelings where this is just what it is for the week, and there’s nothing I can do about it. So many of us follow you for your honesty, which is more than just your positivity! It’s also when mental health is in the deep depths. You’re human!

    Victoria. I am only recently to your channel. And I love your positivity but I also love your realness. And this is you. As many other people have said, you rarely "fix" depression, you just learn to cope with it, ride the waves, anticipate a "down" and therefore maybe make it a little less deep. Especially if you have had a big depressive episode in the past and have treatment Especially CBT in the past, which teaches you coping mechanisms.
    My tip for what it is worth is don't panic. Accept you are on a bit of a down and take one moment at a time, small victories depending on how you're feeling.
    And as to why? there is never a why. I can feel at my darkest on a beautiful sunny day watching my heavenly toddler playing in the garden as we chase bubbles. And that is what makes depression so incredibly isolating. The minimum thing I set myself to do (pre toddler!!) was simply get up, make my bed, shower and do my teeth. And slowly slowly slowly I'd feel like doing more and then WHAM I'd be back out the other side. Be kind to yourself, don't panic, don't over analyse. Depression LOVES overthinking. Much love xxx
    And yes....it can definitely be related to your cycle. I've always had it post period and as I am now perimenopausal this is a strong symptom which rears its head throughout my cycle.

At first it might seem like you will drown in it but if you stay present and open, you'll see it will transmute into something lighter ✨ much love to you

    Vic I’m so glad you’re talking about this. I think I’ve never been depressed nor i claim to be but i have felt what you’re feeling rn and I’m kinda still am in that state but I’m working on it. Around a month ago or more my mental state was not the best: I felt tired, didn’t want to do anything and so sad and i didn’t know why. It got to a point that i took time off work and went back home to my parents house. I was just sad and tired that i would forget to eat or i ate the worst food, i wouldn’t clean my room just let things on the floor etc. but like you said, there was nothing that should’ve bummed me out but i still felt this way. Thankfully my family and friends were a great support when i expressed my feelings and they tried to help me but in the end it’s us who have to work in getting better. Everyone is different, for me the first step was actually cleaning my room (lol cleaning relaxes me) It’s hard and it still is but I’m glad that I’m not alone in this and you’re not too 💓

    we love you victoria, take as long as a break as you need to, take a whole month if you really need too. Mental health is so so important and that is something you have taught me. You have made me feel much more confident about my body and myself. It's always okay to be sad and feel like this. If you need to just take a mental break month, do it, i encourage you. I know how much it sucks because you never know what it is but you know that you don't want to be this feeling. You mean so much to so many of us and honestly I have volleyball tryouts and I will be watching every one of your videos so I can feel better about it. You always make people feel so much better. You are amazing, beautiful, and kind and we get that this is another part of you :). WE LOVE YOU, WOHOOOO GO VICTORIA GARRICK.

    I've been feeling like this on and off for about 6 months now and what I've found is that taking a break and just stepping back usually helps me. Of course we are diffrent so what works for me might not work for you but I really hope you feel better soon!

It's not normal to feel happy all the time, I don't know when society started this belief, but it hurts so many of us when we wonder what's wrong with us when we don't feel happy. All I say is do whatever you need to do. Feel the sadness if you need to because pushing it down or pretending it away isn't helpful. Just understand that this is normal, every single person on the planet goes through this. You aren't alone ❤

    Thank you for your complete honesty! It's both hard and really good to hear, because its felt like I was the only one going through this. Its horrible psychological hemorrhaging, and we need time to protect our minds and heal. If only there was a manual with a quick tip or cheat code to fix our brains... My Dr once told me that other ladies take antidepressants to fight PMS, but going through it is so much more than regular PMS... Please be kind to yourself, Queen Vic. Because you really do deserve to be happy again x

    Depression is a huge downer, and it hits in ways that a lot of us don't expect. My best friend has depression. I don't, but they've described it for me. Their depression hits in waves. Take care of yourself, and really, we'll be fine. Please, please, please, please take care of yourself. Not having motivation is a bummer, and it sucks. Stay safe, your mental health is more important than putting out content.🖤

    Don't worry Vic, I truly felt the same exact way a few years ago. I will be sending hugs and prayers for you to feel a little bit better every single passing day. Take care of yourself physically and mentally and try coping techniques. If I feel down, mostly I would try to nap and listen to music. Or if that doesn't work, watch funny youtube memes/videos. Most importantly, ask your mom to help you through this or ask really close friends to help you or just to hang out.

    We love you Vic! Take all the time you need. Thanks for your sharing your vulnerability with us. This totally hits home. On some days, a sadness, an "off" feeling, or an "I just can't right now" feeling comes over me for a day to a couple of days. It creeps up like out of nowhere with no clear, deducible reason or cause. It can feel frustrating to not know why I feel like that all of a sudden, but just like you said, that me and the happy me are both me. Sometimes things happen for no particular reason at all, and all we can do is just try to be there in our feels, try being kind to ourselves, and give ourselves what we need, maybe that's a big self-hug and some ice cream. :) While I definitely do look forward to watching your videos, the Haikyuu Homies will be alright! Also, you're doing great on RUclips IMO. Sharing your up's and down's with us shows us more of Victoria Garrick the human person with real thoughts and feelings, and we're here for it.

    HEY GIRL. It’s definitely important to ask about hormonal changes, but as someone with depression, a lot of the symptoms you mention resonate. It’s okay to have an invisible illness. A lot of people will knock it saying items for attention, but please ignore that. We love you for all sides of you, and you should too! Mental health isn’t about only good or only bad; it’s kind of a mix. We can’t always be one or the other, and emotions aren’t predictable or controllable for depression! If you’re caring for yourself, it doesn’t always do what you want or expect it to - what’s important is that you do what you need to do to make you feel better. We love and support you!

    I’m sorry Vic hope you start to feel better, I literally feel that way sometimes, the best thing to do would be to do things that bring you comfort and make you happy. I watch your haikyuu videos to help me feel better tbh, you got me through a breakup and you may not know it but thank you so much!     Not everyone can be sunshine and rainbows all the time, you are entitled to have these down days. If you need or want to take a break, you should do it because we all understand. None of us expect you to be 100% all the time. Take care of yourself, we love you!!

    I’ve literally been talking about this minimizing we tend to with ourselves with my therapist so I can so so relate!! It’s hard when we have a very low point to compare a mental health struggle with because nothing will never measure up to that. Hence we minimize what we are going through! I hope you can validate that mental health struggles come in many different shapes and forms. Yes what you are going through is not as bad as what you went through last time AND its important to talk stalk of where you are at. Anyways i love your channel and your content☺️

    I've been going through something similar and honestly just hearing that someone else feels the same and seeing how you handle it is its own form of comfort. And I tend to struggle a lot with gauging when to push myself and when I need to just let myself accept that I'm feeling cruddy and to just hold on

    Firstly, huge hugs! Depression ruts really suck but don't feel bad about sharing. You're human, and sometimes it's easy for viewers or people, in general, to remember that RUclips folks or celebrities, etc., are human and go through stuff too. It's a healthy reminder so that folks don't feel like they need to aspire to the perfect life or mindset, which doesn't exist, and a healthy reminder for those going through depression or mental health issues, too, to know that they're not alone.
    I totally get the lack of motivation, which, of course, is normal when you have depression. Easy things sound unappealing or too exhausting, and it really sucks. I've had that off and on for a few years. And, yes, it's usually hormones or something chemically off. I sometimes find that if I look less at society's reasons for telling us to do this or that and more at the science of it, that it can sometimes get me to do things that sound impossible or exhausting because I know it helps. For instance, going for a walk, with arms moving in opposite paces, actually does fun stuff to parts of the brain and can combat depression--maybe not fix it as a cure-all, but it helps. So can being around nature and, yes, getting magnesium (a.k.a. Epsom salt). Magnesium deficiency can be seen in many folks with depression; those who are chronically stressed, drink a lot, or even (as with you) may be exercise a ton because those things deplete it. So baths or foot soaks can help, as can magnesium lotion or "oil" (Epsom salt + water). It can relax as well as boost your mood.
    Low-key exercise boosts happy hormones or can balance them, producing reactions that modern medicine puts in pill form. Intense cardio may not be ideal, especially if you have something like adrenal fatigue since it mucks with your cortisol levels (so can intense or chronic stress, super-intense exercise, trauma, etc.). Even green tea helps and has anti-anxiety benefits, which is likely why folks love recommending tea in certain parts of the world as some kind of "cure-all," from colds to depression. Whether they realize it or not, it does actually help, even if in small ways.
    I noticed my period recently definitely has been triggering it lately, too lol. I would just get super fatigued and overly sensitive and depressed but thought it was due to a really hard 2019 and a huge amount of chronic stress coupled with PTSD, and then COVID. And I used to be someone who didn't get moody around their period up until recently. Kind of annoying! Do what you can do, though, even if it's stretching because nothing else sounds decent or doable. And thank you for sharing so others know they're not alone or abnormal to be depressed. This pandemic and the rest sure isn't helping lol. Big hugs!

    Thank you so so much for sharing your experience with us, I know how awful bad brain days can be. You deserve to take all the time you need to feel better and motivated. And thank you for sharing, I have the same thoughts when I think about sharing my own struggle. It means a lot to see someone who I admire being open about their own struggle, and this video doesn't give me the same upbeat feelings others do but this one makes me feel so much less alone. And a little hopeful, we can't be sad forever and we'll be okay again

    My immediate reaction when I FINALLY got the notification was:
    "Oh no :("
    I heard some very helpful advice that even if you can keep going, maybe have the energy etc etc. That doesn't mean nothing's going on, or can suddenly happen.
    It's just that sometimes we do need to "fall down/just stop". And falling down can also mean just needing to curl up in a little shell or whatever.
    As long as we can get back up eventually, it can be okay and it's okay😊
    And imo, you're doing great🤸‍♀️

    I know sometimes when people say you're not alone it may not feel true. Just went through a break up and I couldn't get myself to do anything for a week. Including eating or sleeping. I am doing a lot better this week. Even though I have broke down a few times. But we all love you and want you to feel better! Just do what you feel you need to do. I had to start therapy. Couldn't handle it all myself.
