As a corporate employee of 15 years, I had never thought much of entrepreneurship more than "it's too risky, I can't do it!"... until today Zarna, when I heard you say "you spend your peak productivity years, when you have least liabilities, working your ass off for someone else"... and 15 years later, you really only have some savings (that are never enough) and the feeling of "thank god I atleast have a job" because people around you are getting laid off in droves!!
This is your best podcast so far! Thanks for lighting this thought in my head... Hopefully I'll not force my daughter into corporate life when she's that age

🤣Every time Shallabh brings up IIT, it sends me on a laughter trip. My husband, a proud IIT and IIM alum, wears his credentials like a superhero cape. He's convinced that these institutions eclipse Oxford, Stanford, Harvard, and the like. In his world, they're not just universities; they're the ultimate badges of honor. I mean, who needs Hogwarts when you've got IIT and IIM, right? It's like comparing a gourmet meal to a home-cooked feast; he insists the latter is Michelin-star worthy. Bless his cotton socks!

I completely agree with Zarna and I did exactly what she said … I started my own company right out of college and that is why I could do it … their is no way I could have taken that risk at this older age…. My friends have exited from these startups and made millions … so it is a risk reward and you will learn from RUclips and figure it out and get business and accountability coaching. If you want to make something work … you will!

Strolling through my late thirties, I have hit a funny realization: I totally skipped my calling as an entrepreneur back when my spirit animal was more 'fearless adventurer' than 'cautious planner.' I have been like a brand whisperer, turning every project I touch into gold, yet the thought of starting my own thing? Paralyzing. It's like realizing you're a gourmet chef who's only ever cooked with a microwave. Had I taken the leap in my invincible twenties, I might be dictating this from a hammock on my private island by now. But no, I have been playing it safer than a turtle in its shell. The irony? I am convinced I could conquer the world if I just stopped overthinking every possible outcome. So, here's a shoutout to all the late bloomers: It's never too late to trade in the 'what-ifs' for 'why nots.' Let's make our 'someday' today. Because honestly, if we can make magic for others, it's high time we start our own show. This podcast is truly a mental stimulation. I could realate to so much you guys discussed!:)

There is a difference among these 3 mindsets: profit-minded, passion-living, and both. If you have both, you're an entrepreneur. If you only think of making money, you are a business person who may not have a passion for managing. If you're a passion-living, working for companies that devalue you is detrimental.

What was missing in your discussion was what would bring you the most satisfaction at the end of your life - a dedicated single minded life and time in earning money (that is what entrepreneurship is) ignoring all the time for yourself, or your loved ones need with you or a life that involves doing what you enjoy doing and leverage doing it for the comfort and the future security of your loved ones. The latter course may not make you super rich but you’ll feel richer when you turn back review your life.

I appreciate Zarna's humorous take on being regressive, right-winger, doctor-'endorser'. Also got a chance to see her live, it was truly fantastic! However, labeling an employee as "a sheep" is regressive. As a Design Director in a family-owned business, I value the autonomy to make decisions and take ownership of them. On the other hand I agree to your point that one must have an edge to not get replaced by the younger generations. The simple solution to that I feel is to be a 'Life-long learner'.
Secondly, It's crucial to consider factors like mental health, stress and anxiety along with all kinds of health problems, are increasingly prevalent among entrepreneurs. For instance, Nithin Kamath, CEO of a Billion Dollar company 'Zerodha' recently had a stroke, underscores the challenges of entrepreneurship. I guess my point is both employees and employers are essential, one's life priorities and personal acumen should be the ultimate guiding force in deciding what path you want to take. Undermining either, I feel, is in bad taste!

Congratulations Zoya on your internship and Brij getting into a nice college. Veer you keep being your own person, not everyone is meant to conform 🥰

My A grade goes to Zoya for the argument "College and education is about learning to learn. Not everyone uses Math professionally, but you learn complex problem solving"
