Audiovisual demonstration of 60 degree V6 firing order VR38DETT, VQ37VHR, VQ35HR, VQ35DE, 3MZ-FE etc

- Firing order for most (all?) 60 degree V6 engines, and possibly 90 degree V6 engines with split big end journals. Firing order for these engines is an easy to remember 1 2 3 4 5 6.
This numbering system applies to Nissan, Toyota, some GM engines and others. other numbering conventions are used but anything with crank journals in the same places fires in the same order if you ignore the numbers.
The official Trombone sound everybody.

Man this brought back memories when I had my CTS. Had so much fun in that car.
Very cool demenstration! It also shows some interesting aspects to how firing order can affect the sound certain engines can make beyond their cylinder count, displacement, etc. I always wondered why these engines such as Nissan's VQ series sounded particularly "tinny" in comparison to other V6s, the way firing order can create that unique sound signature is fascinating!

@@WilliamMoser Can a Firing order from the Chainsaw 660cc 2 Stroke
The original cart engines are high reving low stroke single cylinders for sure.
But especially if you look at the motorcycle you can see that they all have different engines. The Tier-bikes are oldschool racing motorcycles from the 70's to 80's, 4 cylinders. I am sure they have more displacement, but i think they just didn't want to call it a day with telling it in PS classes, as races literally are categorized by its displacement.
You may need to think about it this way: the displacement variations are part of the reasons why these machines have so different stats. You can decrease the engines' power easily to fit the class and yet high displacement will still give high torque.
I won't explain all aspects but still.
Fun fact
Warios' car in Mario Kart double dash is his real car, with the engine lowered in power to make it a competible race car instead of an overkill
Now I know why the 350z sounds like a trombone
This is so cool I was watching the other ones thinking huh this sounds pretty close. Then I see you have one of my car's engine and it's almost uncanny how similar the tones are. Great work

Not sure if you have extra experience with intakes or intake manifolds but my question is this. From previous knowledge this firing order is very good with a twin turbo setup so would more power be made with an intake manifold with cross planes ex 300zx intake manifold or a single throttle body intake manifold like on the 350z?
I like the idea of two. Turbos on V engines as the manifolds are shorter, simpler and lighter, though some people swear by big singles. The same reasoning can be used in inline sixes really but a single turbo us much easier to invite on an inline than a V. I'd say the biggest difference on a 300zx would be the inlet manifold runner length, the crossover would be better at some RPMs and worse at others. Terrible things to work on, i'm getting PTSD just looking at the word "300zx" :)
@@WilliamMoser I've thought of ways to get linear power bands for v6's since I discovered the guys at total race aka stage wtf Audi. After some research in their modification style I noticed that for each turbo (twin turbos) they had their own intercooler and own intake manifold (or runner). So yeah the idea of a linear powerband may differ if the high rpm's are an issue. Message board where I got my info...
www.the370z.com/forced-induction/48077-twin-turbo-vs-single-turbo-v6-dissertation.html
From what I've seen Audi uses torque management to get linear curves, I'd rather just have as much as it will make and not worry about the curve. That thread covers the basics, but it would be good to see back to back dyno runs and a comparison of cost, weight etc of twins vs single.
@@WilliamMoser yeah unfortunately most has to be left with the rich for testing so guess we won't be seeing anytime soon.

What about the VW VR6 engine?? Can you do a video for it? I think it is different from 123456... and it produces a nice sound!
the firing order of the VR6 is the same as the Inline 6 which is here ruclips.net/video/McBrNv6iESA/видео.html -but I the firing interval would be a bit different due to the geometry of the engine.- the firing interval is the same as the I6 as crankpins 1,6 2,5 and 3,4 are offset to each other by the bank angle, so they rise and fall together.
Ok, tks for the info. That's why the sound is different. each bank produces a singular sound, and in this case (VR6 engne) due to the different admission/exaust lengths for each bank. If you can, pleas do the video for it (VR6 firing order), using the same setup you used for this "60 degree V6 " video here, where the left/right banks have slightly different sounds. It would be great to see the difference. Tks! And congratulations for your project and videos!!

the speaker setup has changed a bit, this one uses a speaker for each bank, now I use a speaker for each cylinder most of the time. That aside some sound like the engine they are simulating, some don't, lots involved in the sound of an engine apart from basic architecture.

www.enjukuracing.com/products/aam-competition-3-in-true-dual-exhaust-for-350z.html
You’d get closer with equal length primaries into an equal length y then out. Or add an x pipe. This lets the exhaust pulses merge giving a uniform sound rather than alternating left/right like that video. Here’s an example
