Thank you sooooo much to Jason and Monica for having me on your podcast. This was my first time being completely transparent about my finances and doing it in front of the world is tough. Thank you for being kind and not ripping me apart after revealing my huge financial mishap.
Thankfully, I learned from my mistakes and I’m in a much better space now.
I thought that after the pandemic finished, I figured I wouldn’t even see half of what I was making then but now that I’ve pivoted to PRN nursing, I’m finally able to consistently make multiple six figures yearly and finally making smarter decisions with my money.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to watch and leave me some positive energy. We work hardddddd as nurses and I hope someone learned from the mistakes I made.

Lovely, thank you so much for being open and sharing your story with everyone who's watching or has watched this video. It takes a serious amount of courage to talk about finances so honestly, especially in front of such a large audience. The mistakes don’t define you; it’s what you’ve learned and how you’ve acted since that really matters. I’m so glad you’re in a better space now and making smarter choices with your money.
Your story is a powerful lesson for so many nurses out there-about the ups and downs that come with earning a lot of money-especially in such a short time frame. We all work hard, but knowing how to handle what we earn is a whole other story. Thank you for inspiring everyone who watches this video to learn from your journey.

Nurses (MSN, BSN, RN, PRN, LPN, nurse aid, etc) are the most critical component at the hospital, nursing homes, etc. Majority take care of the patients more so than the doctors. Most important, a nurse with very good technical skills, patient care and personality are a valued commodity. They deserve high dollar pay. Did not realize contracted nurses can command $1M in a yearly salary. Money is great but the care of a nurse with genuine empathy IS critical. Starting your own nursing care business is a BIG need. Be financially literate. Congratulations to this young lady. She has a great personality.

Actually, since we started posting more on those apps this year, we got like 40K new followers! But here on RUclips, we've only grown by 14K in the same amount of time. Still, we prefer these longer videos because we can show the whole story of how nurses are so talented and always find a way to make money in ways most don't know are possible! Jason, you and Monica have been amazing to share how you managed your budget.
High pay doesn’t always mean financial success. It’s what assets you retain and what residual value you gain from your investments.
As for PRN Specialist RN’s, very high paying.
Hospitals must have these RN’s and they’re in high demand because of their high value. Another example would be an PACU or an OR RN.

Monica and I had our own wake-up call when we first started earning higher incomes as nurses in NYC. At first, we spent all of our money on travels and materialistic items-just like her-but it took a lot of convincing Monica that it’s not about how much we make, but how much we keep and invest that really matters. High pay alone doesn’t guarantee financial security, and managing it well is the key.

it’s hard not to go on spending sprees when you’re making a lot of money. For me it was just making sure that I wasn’t throwing away rent money and was investing in a mortgage payment. Now, if you have to live in another City or State, try to find a way to get your room and board paid or rent something as a business expense. Hire a professional to help you figure this out if you don’t know how to manage your finances strategically.

Right? It’s ridiculous that she got fired for something that wasn’t even her fault. Her job didn’t provide proper PPE, and she had to make do with a surgical mask while a whole team rolls in with hazmat suits. That’s why should all have a back up plan and be prepared for it-because stuff like this happens way too often. Thankfully, nurses have options, but it still blows my mind how things like this happen way too often.

I'm confused when people always talk about Florida Staffing ratios but when I work as a travel nurse up north they did not have any moral or ethics to their staffing ratio. I was given 8 to 10 patients while in Florida in the ER i am given 3 to 5 patients max, and I have been a travel nurse in the ER in for a while. So now, when someone talks about the ratios in Florida, I always ask them do you know about northeast ratios Because for some reason, the ratio is up north are never talked about while Florida is. Even though we dont have state mandated ratios hospital specific ratios are a thing and they try to stick to them. Also, I've been a resource nurse in florida it's mainly when they were over staffed or a busy floor needed the extra help with meds and labs or wound care.

Regular Nurses wouldn’t have the potential to make that kind of money in a hospital or medical facility unless they were to open up their own business. Nurse practitioners can make that kind of money in hospitals because they can specialize in extremely high income earning specialties that pay the same income as doctors like a Nurse Anesthetist. I’ve was a Geriatric travel nurse for 19 years before retiring and going back to school to be a Certified Dental Hygienist. I enjoy the field of dentistry better than nursing. The flexibility is really what sold me to switch careers 👍

Did you watch the news when covid was at its peak? Nurses (registered nurses) were easily bringing home 8k to 13k per week because of the hospitals' inability to care for all of the patients being treated in their facilities.
And, besides covid, it is absolutely possible to make over $1k per shift as a registered nurse. I can make more than that as a staff nurse in my hospital. If I were to work a 12-hour shift-which I don't, because I prefer to work 8s-I would bring home $1,442. And, Monica, my wife would bring home $1,862 as a per diem registered nurse. So, either you live in a red state or a very rural area, since you are assuming only nurse practitioners can earn a lot of money. In fact, I work with a lot of nurse practitioners who chose to continue working at our hospital as registered nurses because they earn more ($250k+/yr) than they would as practicing NPs.

Hospitals in NY covered by 1199, NYSNA, or UFT have a 6/8 patient ratio per nurse. I have never heard of 20 - 40 patient ratio. Maybe in a Nursing Home 20/30, not in a hospital. Many nurses in NY did not work throughout the pandemic, which is why NY had a large number of per diem nurses during this period. These nurses were able to sustain themselves throughout that period. Nurses in NY make a decent salary, maybe not a million/year but decent. State Hospitals, which were typically the lowest paying hospitals, now start at 110K per year directly out of school, with no experience. It is a know fact that per diem nurses/float nurses usually get the toughest assignments

There is no way a staff nurse in NYC comes even close to making those rates. I have friends (nurses) with 15+ yrs of experience who work in some of the highest-paying NYC hospitals (NYP, Mount Sinai, HSS, MSK, and Mount Sinai) and they don't even come close to making that much on an hourly basis.

Umm... I work less than 20 hours per week.. That's not a lot of overtime. Also, can you explain how exactly Trump is going to pass this law and how it would improve the economy, when both parties are already terrible at bringing down our deficit?
Even taxfoundation.org (a non-biased organization that has criticized both parties) has stated the following:
"This latest proposal would increase Trump’s already promised $6.1 trillion in tax cuts to $6.8 trillion and raise the total deficit increase of his entire tax and tariff plan to $2.0 trillion over 10 years. Further exempting all overtime pay from employee-side payroll taxes (6.2 percent for Social Security and 1.45 percent for Medicare) combined with the income tax exemption would reduce tax revenues by $1.1 trillion over 10 years."
And I'm all for reducing our taxes but if you don't have a plan for how you are going to implement these strategies or fix our broken economic issues, then why would I vote for a person like that?
