Yeah one of the things I like most about having found this channel when I did (he only had about 5k subs when I started) is that we have gotten to go on this journey with him. As he has made videos about what he has learned we have gotten to watch him implement those skills and see his life improve. A lot of those other guys it seems like they were already wildly successful before they even started RUclips.
I passed my bachelors in applied computer science and still don't know how to code, At max I wrote some working Algorithms for calculations and that's it.
"Learning for sufficiency" and "Learning for a goal" are so key. I'd group in "Just start learning/doing it now" with them too. I'd always get paralyzed by the amount of different resources a topic can have, being so worried to choose the wrong learning resource that I could spend days/weeks/months researching the resources instead of the actual content itself.
I was thinking for a long time about the fact that existing learning methods are ineffective and when I watched Nathaniel drew learn Italian and I guess Portuguese in a week, I was convinced. so just to prove that this concept is appliable to stuff other than languages, I tried to learn python as quick as possible. I know the absolute basics now with 3 days (roughly 5 hrs in total) of tutorials from youtube and making some basic programs. this would have taken me 5-6 months in a traditional school setting. you can do the same. anyone can. learning skills is not as hard as people describe it to be (exceptions may exist). learning yourself is the best way to learn something for me as of now.
Yeah, exactly! Also, like Nathaniel said on his latest video, circumstances may very per each person but if you really carve your time and effort out there's plenty of deep work that you can do in such a short amount of time.
You wouldn't need 5-6 months in a traditional school to learn python. Python is like one of the easiest languages. My school took about a 2-3 weeks or so to teach the basics, which is still very short if you consider that we only had a few lessons a week.

There's just too many things I want to master but to have that expectation of achievement for each of those thing are just setting myself up for failure. Thats why I focus on one thing I really want to master, and the rest I can live with being mediocre at but at the same time they still contribute to my main mastery.
I have that same exact problem. There are too many things I want to start AND master at the same time. It's hard for me to actually pick which one I truly want
Learn a skills that are quite easy to learn but can produce you a lot of money. In my case, I learn sales & closing deals in just a short amount of time and got online projects that earn me lots of money while I learn another skills (python) in my free time.
Man, the transformation from an year or 2 years ago is insane. I've binged all your content and it acts as my mantra + example. While I'm on a completely different path than you, to us I'll just say, Greatness Is Coming.
The way I learn things is when I’m laying down I close my eyes empty my mind and just picture myself doing it and then I do it in real life then it becomes a little bit easier
I spent hours sitting in an apartment I needed to remodel (a rental). I made notes. I would fall asleep building each section in my mind (plumbing/electrical). Then I would dream it. A week later, I went 50 miles to the supply houses and came home with the truck loaded down with everything I thought I would need; pipe/wire/insulation/sheetrock/nails/wood, etc. I was able to work 2 weeks without having to go to town for more stuff. I would set a goal of cutting holes, running pipe/wire so I had the right tools on hand.(each trade sometimes requires totally different tools. Every night, the room would be cleaned up, the next day finalized and tools sorted/put away as needed. I got it done on time.
This is exactly what I have done this quarantine. I have learned "Sufficient" amount of 5 different programming codes. Namely HTML, CSS, JS, PHP+MYSQL, and currently DART with FLUTTER.
I needed this. Ironically I just started my journey hoping to get a work from home job. Going back to school for Information Technology. Also trying to teach myself coding, learn python etc.
Captain Sinbad, you know what I love about you? You’re genuine, and you’re legit. I feel like there’s so many self-improvement gurus on RUclips who talk about their routine and their habits, but they’re really all for show. They just want to make themselves look good. But with you, you actually demonstrate things that can help people, and make it sound accessible and doable. You even inspire people that they can do things to better themselves. I think you’re one of the few genuine sources of positivity on RUclips, and for that, thank you for everything you’re doing and the excellent content.

Also, it's true that consistency is everything - a certain amount of effort, day in and day out, is the key to success in any domain, and I've experienced this myself in recent times. I've been studying daily and my success in academics is reflecting the compounded effect of that. I've learnt a lot from you on consistency, thank you so much for that. Overcoming emotional barriers and focusing on 'Rapid Skill Acquisition' by practicing is definitely the key. You see yourself improve day by day. Salutations Captain!

When I was 17 I got my first job and immediately hated it. I wanted a job as filmmaker, just any videography work. For years I worked and went to school, got my degree, and even then struggled to find work doing what I WANTED to do. I worked at Walmart for 3 years and loathed it. But I got to where I was committed to finding a job I respected, and I decided to look up and put in applications on indeed every day. I recently, after 5 years, at 22 years old, got my first camera operator job. It pays better than any previous job I've had, I enjoy what I do, like who I work with, and is in a cool environment. Don't EVER settle for a job you're not happy with. Most people do and are miserable.
Great vid! To quote M.A. “Not to assume it’s impossible because you find it hard. But to recognize that if it is humanly possible, then you can do it too.”
Your best vid ever in my opinion. Combining great photography/videography with a truly fascinating and valuable topic, all brought tied together by an eloquent homage to one of my favourite films of all time with the best and most authentic sponsor call to action I've seen in a long time. Possibly my favourite youtube video of 2020 so far. Thank you, Captain Sinbad, for spicing up our lockdown.
You are really good at articulating, you make everything so clear and your thoughts are so well organized. Good luck growing your awesome RUclips channel, I am glad I found it.
Wow was this worth watching. This is one of the most useful advice videos I’ve ever seen anywhere (and I’m familiar with most of the self improvement channels Nikhil himself covers in his other videos and others). I’m dealing right now with exactly the problems Nikhil addresses here and am going to need to apply everything he talks about. I’ll be note taking and viewing repeatedly. So super accurate and helpful. Thanks. P.s. Also, thanks for the hilarious surf shark ad. Love the seriously high quality info, presentation skills, AND humor of this channel. Self development can be a bummer, hard pill to swallow, and takes work. Being able to laugh about it is huge - it’s a much needed / appreciated stress relief, pressure valve, and perspective check.
I love this! My mom keeps teaching my brother and I multiple skills like sewing, cycling, cooking etc and calls them survival skills. You don't have to be good at them, but you should know how to do them
Sinbad: I think I'm being tracked in this simulation. Also Sinbad: Get the most cost-effective solution! Literally the most Indian thing, I've seen in a while.
I practiced poetry techniques for at least 2 hours a day for two months, and now I am a master poet with poetry success, awards and regularly published. I had each part of poetry writing have its own time to be practiced. I would reread my homework, and even speak the lesson outloud...etc. My poetry mentor said I would be successful as a poet, and he was right.
Loved the quote - 'Skills need time and effort. Time that we don't have and effort that we are reluctant to put in.' I would change one thing about this statement - 'Effort that we are putting into other things'. Effort and time are like money, you spend them to get what you want.
This is your best video yet. I was planning to achieve a goal within 3 months, made the intention last week and behold you have provided wisdom and inspiration. Genuinely moved me watching this video.
The quality of your videos has gone up unbelievably. I am just fascinated by how fluid the camera work and how flawless the editing on this video are. Love you man.
Getting a "high paying job" is relatively easy. How about not needing a high paying job because you're financially independent..harder, but way more worthwhile.
Financially independent pursuits might require a certain initial investments. A job is first the way to that initial investment toward their goal for many individuals.
Captain, my life has turned upside down and I’ve experienced physical pain to it’s limits , but your channel is slowly but surely helping me turn all that I went through to my advantage. It’s all how you look at things and your perspective, I’ve been finding you can use extreme trauma to your advantage if you look at it from the correct vantage point. Thanks again captain day 45 going strong! Moving to LA next year and would love to meet you one day.
You get better and better every vid!!! I play guitar and I find it helpful to practise for a short amount of time throughout the day rather than practising everything all at once. Taking breaks to absorb what you've learned is important. Keep rocking, Sinbad. Greetings from Iraq!!
Perfect timing I literally have the same mindset. I just started trying to be decent in learning to speak Russian just a couple days ago in quarantine. It's hard as an Asian guy who has zero exposure before to the language. But I'm learning every day and my goal when I started was not to become a master and read, write, and have hour long conversations at all. Just be decent in which I can talk for a few minutes.
Fellow photographer/videographer here. The Sonys capture dust easily on the sensor. Noticed it during the talking head piece. Rocket blower does the trick. Love your work!
Okay so I just discovered you today and I’m on my second video of yours...I had to sub because (1) your tips seem actually DOABLE and you’re giving us some high quality nuggets of wisdom! (2) I loved your “Surfshark” ad with the matrix reference. Well done!
Sinbad, I am only 16, but the pokemon line killed me. I started playing soulsilver in lockdown out of sheer nostalgia from when I was 8 lmfao. Not gonna lie that "you could just wallow in nostalgia" slapped me right across the face

Yes this is real content. No Gary, Grant, Tai or Grazi... Just pure and real content. Keep staying pure and true to your purest vision. Thanks creator.
You have no idea how much this video came in at the right time. A girl and I who had a great relationship just broke things off because of different life goals and I've been wanting for YEARS to make videos on youtube and make a living by myself. Been overthinking the whole thing for years - and this, man this video is just amazing. I would spam the like button if I could. I'm sharing it with friends, it really left a great feeling on me. Thanks, I just subbed. :)

Jim kwik is an expert in alternative and rapid ways of learning. But i like what our brother Captain Sinbad says... plus his videos are getting better and better... he will soon be on TV or a FILM. I can see it clearly. He is authentic, he is not fake, his authenticity and sincerity gives him the edge, plus his charm and voice gives him appealingness
I am trying to learn yo code so I can help sustain my family since I am nit doing well right now, and I been two weeks on this and felt like it will take me too long before I manage be able to accomplish something. So thanks for this video, I really needed this. I will do my best to suprass these emotional barries that are pushing me back.

I recently, after 5 years, at 22 years old, got my first camera operator job. It pays better than any previous job I've had, I enjoy what I do, like who I work with, and is in a cool environment. Don't EVER settle for a job you're not happy with. Most people do and are miserable.
Perfect timing! Was losing my motivation to do anything. Time to get back on track. Thank you!
Great vid! To quote M.A. “Not to assume it’s impossible because you find it hard. But to recognize that if it is humanly possible, then you can do it too.”
I most enjoy the acting in these videos. The eyes at 7:28 so good. The Intensity! Keep it up.
Every self development cell in my body is triggered 😭
I love this! My mom keeps teaching my brother and I multiple skills like sewing, cycling, cooking etc and calls them survival skills. You don't have to be good at them, but you should know how to do them
Sinbad: I think I'm being tracked in this simulation.
Also Sinbad: Get the most cost-effective solution!
Literally the most Indian thing, I've seen in a while.
Watching this growth is just amazing. Videos just get better and better. The channel is it's own example of it's message.
The quality is improving with every video.. ❤️
Loving how you naturally transition to your sponsor!
Loved the quote - 'Skills need time and effort. Time that we don't have and effort that we are reluctant to put in.' I would change one thing about this statement - 'Effort that we are putting into other things'. Effort and time are like money, you spend them to get what you want.
I feel like I’ve been talking about the importance of B-roll all week and then you drop this GEM! Great stuff!
man ive watched the quality of his videos improve over the years and hes still striving .. thats why i keep watchin ...
How's the josh "nikil"?😜
High sir
This is your best video yet. I was planning to achieve a goal within 3 months, made the intention last week and behold you have provided wisdom and inspiration. Genuinely moved me watching this video.
The one who controls his mind controls his destiny.
Work hard and smart to turn your dream into reality.
The editing and cinematography TRUTH, TRUTH, TRUTH!!!!
This video felt like a reinvention of your content. Loved it Sinbad ❤

Love this quote.

Those skillshare courses on videomaking really be coming in handy
Yup, that's where I learned about video editing too. Then it's about practice.
Out of all the productivity channels on youtube I subscribed to I enjoy yours the most. Thanks for shifting my perspective on skill acquisition
May 29 me : Super cool, I'm so pumped! I'm gonna make a plan and just get some big things done, you'll see!!!
Sept me : ....um.
4:27 Captain your watch game is on point.
I am seeing this after three months
Same
Fellow photographer/videographer here. The Sonys capture dust easily on the sensor. Noticed it during the talking head piece. Rocket blower does the trick. Love your work!
I'll clean it! Thank you!
watching captain sinbad the first time...
him: '"our lord and saviour, brian tracy"
me: SUB!
Who is Brian Tracy again 😂😂😂
Agreed!
Okay so I just discovered you today and I’m on my second video of yours...I had to sub because (1) your tips seem actually DOABLE and you’re giving us some high quality nuggets of wisdom! (2) I loved your “Surfshark” ad with the matrix reference. Well done!
Came for the joke videos/skits stayed for these masterpieces 😁
Sinbad, I am only 16, but the pokemon line killed me. I started playing soulsilver in lockdown out of sheer nostalgia from when I was 8 lmfao. Not gonna lie that "you could just wallow in nostalgia" slapped me right across the face
Holy shit,My G is improving his quality like a God!
coming from a small city in india, watching all these productivity youtubers was overwhelming, i used to think that dude i cant ever do that but then i stumbled upon your channel, and you make things so simple, nice. keep up the good work :)
so you are telling me this not an Advertisement on Glasses?
Yes this is real content. No Gary, Grant, Tai or Grazi... Just pure and real content. Keep staying pure and true to your purest vision. Thanks creator.
Duude, next video idea: "Watches alan watt's once"
You have no idea how much this video came in at the right time. A girl and I who had a great relationship just broke things off because of different life goals and I've been wanting for YEARS to make videos on youtube and make a living by myself. Been overthinking the whole thing for years - and this, man this video is just amazing. I would spam the like button if I could. I'm sharing it with friends, it really left a great feeling on me. Thanks, I just subbed. :)
...and a lot can happen in five minutes.
*_i like how there’s a theme in ur vids, it makes my heart thump like crazy and feel somewhat scared but also makes it easy to understand_*

You should do “watches a SNEAKO video once”
Jim kwik is an expert in alternative and rapid ways of learning. But i like what our brother Captain Sinbad says... plus his videos are getting better and better... he will soon be on TV or a FILM. I can see it clearly. He is authentic, he is not fake, his authenticity and sincerity gives him the edge, plus his charm and voice gives him appealingness
Nikhil, what's your favourite? Roti or Paratha?
Paratha haha
@@CaptainSinbad correct answer is C) Deep Frozen Naan

I am trying to learn yo code so I can help sustain my family since I am nit doing well right now, and I been two weeks on this and felt like it will take me too long before I manage be able to accomplish something.
But this, it was insightful, but above all, motivational, because it came at the right time when I needed the most, because this is certainly isn't the only insightful video that talks about this topic, but it was the one that was recommend to me, and I clicked, watched and made me feel better.
So thanks for this video, I really needed this.
I will do my best to suprass these emotional barries that are pushing me back.
Nikhil, watch “Alex Becker” once :)
I feel like you’re speaking directly to me so many times. You are absolutely incredible and my favorite channel hands down. You inspire me because I feel like you’re walking this path and guiding everyone else as you do. Much love and respect
