We want to retire in Italy in 10 years. Lecce looks great! (We have just started researching after visiting Rome and Naples last year.) Thanks for all you do!
That's great Cydnie! Nice job starting the research early! Lecce is a pretty cool place. Driving is a bit crazy downtown, but you get used to it. Thanks for subscribing!
It really is! It's even better in person. Cameras never do it justice. There are so many street peddlers and restaurants open in the evening. The streets are always buzzing in August!
Many thanks for taking us in this stroll through beautiful Lecce. I must say I got in late, and thought you were somewhere in Verona, since it has that look with the polished granite /marble pedestrian streets. Thanks for all the insider tips about things only a local would know. Most important, you are giving us a sense or “taste” of the different communities and regions you visit, and hopefully will allow us to do a better informed decision in the future as where to buy/visit. With our Covid lockdown in SoFlo, we are traveling through your lens; many thanks !! Very much appreciated!! All the BEST !!
Have fun! You'll definitely enjoy the experience! There are a ton of beaches to check out within a 30 minute drive. Or you can take a bus to some of the more popular ones.
We spent a week in Lecce taking an Italian class 7 or 8 years ago. Great city. Also, if you get a chance, visit Galatina - nice town and some interesting real estate. We spent a long weekend there and stayed at Palazzo Baldi which had a lot of character e non troppo costoso. The local coffee - Quarta Caffe Oro - is superb. It has a hint of chocolate - almost as if the bean is coated with a layer of cocoa (I don't think it is). Try it if you can.
My pleasure! I was happy to see more activity going on. This is truly very typical of this community. It would have been interesting to see it during lockdown.
Very nice video. Beautiful place. Your camera work is improving. You have good subjects and the right personality for blogging. It is good for the low light , definitely worth doing.
Thanks Joe! I need to pick up a working gimbal for my phone since I do Live pretty often. After 9 months I've watched enough of my videos to know how my movements can be a problem for film haha
Hi DauvO, the whole city is made of tuff (Tufo), including the amphitheater, remember this when you go around Italy and find tuff constructions. As in Monferrato.
Thanks Giuseppe. Here they often call it Pietra di Lecce since it is specific to their area. I've learned a lot about Tufo recently since it was in Zungoli as well. Appreciate your comment!
I've visited Lecce a few times, love it. One of your chats asked about Air B&B i Lecce--there are some great ones and not just in the "downtown" area. I stayed at one about a 10-12 minute walk about NW of where you are filming, and it was fantastic with a small equipped kitchen. Go to Lecce for a 3-4 days and take your time eating, shopping, walking around--stay another day or two and make trips out to the beaches or other towns a small train or car ride.
Thanks. She is ok, she asked 1000 questions about what the jellyfish didn't want her in the sea, but I don't think it will really stop her from getting back in. She's a fish herself!
Hey Dave. I think Lecce is beautiful. I love it. I thought the quality was fine. Your getting more steady. Hahaha Caio Francesca Its very different than other parts of Italy. I like it very much. I will put it on my to do list. Thanks Francesca
Can you do a video on how you learned Italian? I think you speak it pretty well. I have been trying to learn it and would like any tips or pointers you could give. I am working on getting citizenship through marriage but need to learn language first. Grazie!
@@DauvO Thank you! Also one more question. Can you layout how you legally stay there? My wife and children are citizens but i am not as I cant apply until I can speak at B1 level.
Yes beautiful place! Know I am late but quality was good. Tell your daughter that jelly fish just wanted too kiss her, 🐳🐟🐠🐡🐙. When will Italy open up for us? Yes I still want to know how much a house would cost if it has to be totally renovated. Thank you like always very informative and a beautiful place!
Good idea! Wish I had thought about that at the time. When she was crying in the water, I assumed it was fish nipping at ther legs and she panicked and jumped on my back at the thought of it. I think if it was up to Italy, they would have already let you in. The EU seems to be the driving factor behind the block. I hope it is soon!
@@DauvO Thank you David, we just move to lockdown level 2, so level one should be in a few months! Don't worry about your reaction, a person never knows what to say or do in situations when you're children are involved, you did wonderful, she's lucky too have a daddy like you.
Hi Dauv0! Thank you for the nice video, I haven't been to the south of Italy only in the north. It is expensive there? It looks really nice. That would be my next destination.
Hi Katherine. Products and services are typically cheaper here. Some people come down here to save money during the sales period since they'll be coming down for the beach anyway. Milan has a lot more options during the sales though.
It depends on which part of Italy you're in and your income level, right? If you don't need to live in Milan or another large city, rent is not bad at all. Food tends to be more fresh, but with 500 euro per month we feed my family. Less than 1000 euros for all our fixed costs due to not having a rent or mortgage payment isn't all that expensive. In south Italy, it can be even less. There are certain things that cost more due to high taxes for sure, but if you live a minimalistic lifestyle and don't need to buy every new thing that is available, I think it's actually less expensive at times. It really depends on what area of the world you're comparing it to.
Beautiful place, but it looks like a COVID superspreader heaven. I would not want to be there in those crowds and people everywhere with no masks. Just crazy.
It looked like a big mix of people who are being cautious and others that aren't afraid of the consequences. Either way, it's good to get some fresh air. I prefer a secluded beach to the downtown historical district.
LOVE Lecce..go every year and stay around the corner from the amphitheatre in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II

We were supposed to be there last month. Beautiful part of Italy. Thanks for filming this great to see life out and about again.

Oh it looks soooooo amazing 🌹🌹💜
There is plenty more that we didn't see! So much history in Lecce!
Hi DauvO, missed you live, because living in Australia you were live very early, it looks beautiful. Stay safe.
No worries, Joyce. I try to move the live time around since we do have a pretty international audience.

Winter average of 12 C or 53 F. In the summer 27 C or 80 F.
