As soon as he peeked the roaches it’s confirmed. The odds of doing that randomly are basically non existent. If I see that, I’d need to watch multiple games to prove someone is NOT hacking. The reason for “oh he wasn’t in position for this” or “oh he’s not making the right units to deal with this” is because he’s just bad at the game and not fast enough to keep up with everything. But when the game slows down, you see the screen peeks and the army movements start to come back
8:49 that's not "kind of weird" that is a smoking gun. Those situations demonstrate map hacking even if it was the only suspicious thing in the entire game, let alone when combined with other (previous) things.

i feel like if you're going to position a unit down the path of an enemy, then wait for them to come to you, taking care not to react until a few seconds have passed so you can act all surprised; you're really undermining the act by stopping all actions and leaving your camera pointed at the units until they've met, then going back to normal gameplay again. unless you wanna make it seem like you were AFK, but you can see them adjusting their camera so that wouldn't work. the interaction was only a few seconds long but still. i found it revealing.
Can you do a bgmwss where you pretend to be a hacker and screen peak randomly around the map, pretend you see stuff coming, and then react to it? Surely it’ll work once by coincidence and be hilarious
3:00 I mean, if you don't think he's aware of any timings is it not a factor in favour of him pulling back from lings that are unlikely to exist just on a basis of "eh, let's play it safe"?
The first google search suggestion I get when I type "starcraft 2" is cheats. I would assume a very large fraction of all the players are using some cheats. And map hacks can compensate for a lot of player incompetence as the outcome of this game very heavily depends on the information you give and get. You also have to consider that cheaters try not to make it too obvious. That's why this guy waited for the overlord to come out of the fog of war while staring at it. To make it less "obvious" that he knew it was there. But in the heat of the moment the hackers would slip a lot more.
That’s interesting, because going onto a freshly made account on Incognito, the results for googling “Starcraft 2” don’t include any cheats whatsoever in the first 3 pages of Google. It sounds like you were shown what the algorithm expects you to want, which means that you’re probably whining about hacking quite frequently. Or are searching for hack clients, but that’s less likely.
This hacker probably would have gotten away with it if he hadn't BMed. Our submitter was mad about losing and being BMed, checked the replay hoping the guy he was mad at was a cheater and got lucky.
2:15 i'm not a SC2 player, just watching a tonn of videos, BUT I would've thought there "Oh maan, they have to go aaaall the way around?? Nah lets go back."
While this isn't the highest level, someone at dia2 should know 100% of the time what the pathing of the marines is going to be and the player did in fact click on the lowground 2 times before retreating them.
I think if player tie-hacks, you can be sure that he map hacks as well, and maybe using something else. It's always a double-deal, like aimbot+maphack in shooters
Harstem is already at the level where he vs' the top 20 players fairly regularly - giving him map hacks would almost certainly mean a win.. kind of pointless. One of the best way to win in SC2 at the high levels (or really any level) is having map vision - a full understanding of what you need to do to either counter, defend or win. At the highest level, it's like a free win card. At the lower levels, they often just aren't able to capitilise on the benefits as much.
i actually cant tell if harstem is trolling. this dude makes peeks multiple times which would be 1 in ~15,000,000 to get them all (product random indep events), and then says "hm i wouldnt have taken this fight, so yeah i'm not sure". like what? how are those two things even comparable from a math or logical perspective.
one of the most memorable cases of BM I've had was when a guy randomly accused me of maphacking after he lost the game. It was really bizarre, he said he looked at the replay and I looked past the fog of war but honestly I still had no idea what he was talking about. Plus he kept going. Sounded rude and very entitled for like 15 minutes before I finally blocked him.
For example a player has stalkers, but no minerals and no probes, but has buildings and the Terran opponent floats their bases into the corner of the map where they cant be destroyed. Both those scenarios would end in a draw.
@@b189126 The draw offer appears automatically after such a stalemate. I think its like 2 minutes after the stalemate has been reached but dont quote me on that
Video idea: Best of 5/7, but each Player can have map hack for one map (no idea if there are modded maps that have such option though) . If opponent guesses which map it was, he gets a win for that map.
Yeah the imbastarcraft mod has that as one of its many options. From playing with that mod vs GMs I know just how insane it is to have maphack if you don't have goldleague mechanics like these hackers.
Not sure why the marine not gonig to the ovie at the start seemed not-hacker-ish - gonig there straight away means the ovie is likely to get pulled back and be safe, letting it get deeper makes it more likely to die. Honestly waiting longer would have been better though.
more like calling a guy that build a house in minecraft an architect: context is key my dear EDIT: better wording on your part, thanks ;) they prolly should be called cheaters instead
@@OldSpaghettifactory89I think you misunderstood. You should read slower. He's saying hackers have hacking skills. He is saying calling them a hacker is to glorifying. What he is saying is this is the equivalent of getting take out and passing it off to a date at your home as if you can cook. Is it clear now?
I think some hackers have gotten to the level they are with hacking. Meaning that maybe they really are just really bad at making calls, even when they do have full information.
It'd be fun to consider how best to play against a (suspected) hacker. You can't surprise him, but your fundamentals are probably better. So I guess just play a safe and solid macro game, maybe with a lot of multi-tasking?
At low lvl play we dont understand resourses at all, heck i wanted to mass hydra against carriers in 2v2, so i were out of gas the whole game, till i started floating minerals(
Bad plays aren't evidence that someone isn't a hacker. If anything, bad plays are minor evidence that someone is a hacker. Hackers will look worse because they're playing above their true league; so, they don't have many of the skills that are expected at their level. I appreciate the high-bar for reporting someone; but, you should at least be suspicious the first time someone looks at something in the fog of war.
There's a book called "Peak" by K. Anders Ericsson that describes how time spent into something or innate talent isn't as important as specific types of practice. It outlines how you need to practice with the goal of getting better. It's probably why all hackers are terrible at the game.
You may not get the reference to his name -- KeyTesla. Keying a car is where a person takes out his car keys and walks by a car he is jealous of not having and runs his key non-chalantly down the body of the car leaving a long scratch mark in the paint. Evidently he is jealous of Tesla owners. Turds that do this should be punished in some manner but most get away with it.
"jealous" hahahahaha. Yeah it is a crime, but you're getting mad at a silly nickname. Most people with a brain hate Tesla owners for supporting a white supremacist, not because of any jealousy.
Harstem has made content using mods (in custom games) that provide maphacks and other benefits (super powered units). Using the actual hacks probably disqualifies you from pro tournaments, regardless of the reason you did so.
Harstem is the worst at looking for hackers. Misses half of the moments. Tries to frame himself into the "hacker perspective" while having literaly 0 understanding of hacker's mindset. Expects good moves from hackers which is stupid from every possible angle. At first hackers usually are very bad and worse than their league opponents in terms of skillset. Second is that doing best calls from maphack info is just giving yourself 100% away which some hackers at least try not to do. This is just plain stupid and painful to watch.
Wtf is this zerg doing, one or 2 fungals and you get all enemy cyclones, i mean he is cheating so you probably wouldn't get it, but damn, 18 minutes and 0 infestors as zerg? You asked for a lose.
@Harstem I belive that these videos are wildly irresponsible. Please can you stop this series? It's really going to increase the amount of hackers in the game by a lot. You're really bringing so much attention to maphacking, how easy it is to do, and raising how much people think about hacking in the SC2 community. So far, Hacking has not been a huge problem in the SC2 community for no other reason than it's just not that popular among the older RTS audience. There is no other defence against hacking, other than people just don't consider doing it. This series is getting thousands of potential hackers, who don't even actively play the game (Average amount of games played per week of your audience is Zero) to think about hacking. It creates the idea of "Well, if people are hacking then I may as well do it too". Not to mention, when people watch these videos they may think "Oh, that looks fun, I want to try that" and their curiosity will get the better of them. ESPECIALLY because this series is saying "If you hack, then you might get to be on your favourite youtuber's Channel!" "If you want to be on youtube and have a whole video dedicated to you, then just hack!" "Hacking, the easiest way onto Harstem's youtube Channel" "Do you want to get attention and have Harstem talk about you for an entire video? Just hack!" Look at how many people send you IODIS complaints just to get on your videos, and now you're giving this opportunity to anyone who's willing to download a maphack. Please just replace this series with more IODIS videos. Right now, the only thing that's stopping hackers from making SC2 unplayable is that most people just aren't motivated to hack, just haven't considered doing it or don't know how easy it is. This video threatens that and could contribute towards the game being killed forever. Please consider what I'm saying

At the highest level, it's like a free win card. At the lower levels, they often just aren't able to capitilise on the benefits as much.
The paradox of this series is that, the better it get, the fewer hackers we will have to get content from 😅
"All hackers are bad hackers" might be a reverse survivorship bias.
he fog peeked the lings incoming and then braced his marines up against the depot just before they hit
I'd bet that most hackers just don't care enough to hide that they are hacking. I mean, what's going to happen to them if they are caught?
He never scanned until he decided to clear those 2 creep tumors towards the end. Peeks, moves into position and doesn't even scan there. Obvious.
Imagine peaking diamond while having full vision of the map 🤣
You should host a MapHacks tournament so you can flex ur hacking-comp knowledge
It was pretty obvious he was a hacker 😂
I still feel we need a map hack test run, see how strong it is. Harstem vs Serral but with map hacks. See how strong it is.
i actually cant tell if harstem is trolling. this dude makes peeks multiple times which would be 1 in ~15,000,000 to get them all (product random indep events), and then says "hm i wouldnt have taken this fight, so yeah i'm not sure". like what? how are those two things even comparable from a math or logical perspective.
Not Sure if this has been asked before, but did the terran even use a single scan for scouting purposes? 🤔 Or scout at all without his cheats/Hacks?
one of the most memorable cases of BM I've had was when a guy randomly accused me of maphacking after he lost the game. It was really bizarre, he said he looked at the replay and I looked past the fog of war but honestly I still had no idea what he was talking about. Plus he kept going. Sounded rude and very entitled for like 15 minutes before I finally blocked him.
how do you draw in starcraft2?
For example a player has stalkers, but no minerals and no probes, but has buildings and the Terran opponent floats their bases into the corner of the map where they cant be destroyed. Both those scenarios would end in a draw.
@@NedSchneebly-eh7kh I understand it's a draw, but how can you technically ofer a draw in game?
@@b189126 I don't think you can. I believe the "Hacker" in the video cheated somehow to get draws, instead of losses on the ladder stats.
Next challenge: A losing hacker
Calling some one a hacker for downloading and running a script is like calling a guy that switches on a light bulb an electrician.
more like calling a guy that build a house in minecraft an architect: context is key my dear
EDIT: better wording on your part, thanks ;)
they prolly should be called cheaters instead
awww did harstem get your account banned for hacking? poor thing
Out of curiosity, why not a transition to lurkers?
Have you considered getting a custom map where one player has full map visibility? would be fun to see a actual good player "hacking"
I think some hackers have gotten to the level they are with hacking. Meaning that maybe they really are just really bad at making calls, even when they do have full information.
It'd be fun to consider how best to play against a (suspected) hacker. You can't surprise him, but your fundamentals are probably better. So I guess just play a safe and solid macro game, maybe with a lot of multi-tasking?
thanks harstem
no hello to creatures of the sea? :P
At low lvl play we dont understand resourses at all, heck i wanted to mass hydra against carriers in 2v2, so i were out of gas the whole game, till i started floating minerals(
Is that possible to become a gm as a hacking diamond player by just be very good at covering?
HHH - harstem hunts hackers
Please make HHH a weekly episode.
I encounter hackers nearly everyday
Bad plays aren't evidence that someone isn't a hacker. If anything, bad plays are minor evidence that someone is a hacker. Hackers will look worse because they're playing above their true league; so, they don't have many of the skills that are expected at their level.
I appreciate the high-bar for reporting someone; but, you should at least be suspicious the first time someone looks at something in the fog of war.
99.99% sure he is hacking.
Harstem is really bad at finding hackers. It's so obvious when he panned over the roaches. No one fucking does that.
7:08 "The KKK wants you"
major WTF?
...what??
oh, the clan decal by the zerg's base says that. I assumed it was something in chat and wasn't sure how I missed it.
what?
surprised you're the only one pointing it out. wtf
Are hackers IMBA or do I just suck?
I was convinced at the peaks through the fog of war. I think it's only for show that Harstem tried to act like it wasn't easy. It's very annoying.
This terran was was not even that bad compared to some stuff
weve seen in hacks and iodis.
Why would he even bother hacking?
There's a book called "Peak" by K. Anders Ericsson that describes how time spent into something or innate talent isn't as important as specific types of practice.
It outlines how you need to practice with the goal of getting better. It's probably why all hackers are terrible at the game.
roaches need buffed.
more speed and damage.
also shoot up and able to fly would be nice.
and splash.
maybe storm too just because.
factz
Avilo be like
You may not get the reference to his name -- KeyTesla.
I never missclickin to the map. I dont care about the map in the fog. If you click to an enemy unit. 100% hack.
170apm is pretty average for dia 2, surprised he also hacks
Maybe a series in which you will install hacks and try to beat top pro players like Serral or Clem ?
Harstem has made content using mods (in custom games) that provide maphacks and other benefits (super powered units). Using the actual hacks probably disqualifies you from pro tournaments, regardless of the reason you did so.
damn how can I get first if there's already a comment after 1 min
That's the neat part, Marc. You can't.
Imagine how fragile an ego you must have to cheat in a game and then brag about winning.
Turbo-losers.
You asked for a lose.
tired of these AI thumbnails my dude
I like them, get owned
ESPECIALLY because this series is saying "If you hack, then you might get to be on your favourite youtuber's Channel!"
"If you want to be on youtube and have a whole video dedicated to you, then just hack!"
"Hacking, the easiest way onto Harstem's youtube Channel"
"Do you want to get attention and have Harstem talk about you for an entire video? Just hack!"
Look at how many people send you IODIS complaints just to get on your videos, and now you're giving this opportunity to anyone who's willing to download a maphack.
"It's so easy to be a good hacker" - Harstem 2024
the ai art thumbnails suck
Hey Harstem, long time viewer and fan here. Please dont use AI generated thumbnails, it is made by stealing from your fellow creators and artists. Hope you stop using them❤
then stop using art by other artists who got inspired by other astists art and learned from them.
@@Valok not even close to the same thing lol, that people like your comment is almost a bit depressing. if you ever put in hard work into something and create a product that has value you will understand.
@@genesises inspiration is just the biological name for copying someone elses work. just goes through a somewhat different process. the underlying basic principle is exactly the same.
bold of you to assume i never put any hard work into anything. i draw since i can remember. just because i notice the similarity between AI learning and how i learned, doesnt mean i am a lazy ass who never did anything myself.
way to discredit your own opinion ...
First
i'm not seeing it, hes god awful, if someone had a maphack hed make way better movements, not a hacker
Oh, it's hack
