Hi Ken. The statue is of the Scandinavian immigrant itinerant logger Anywun Updah, the builder of Updah Creek's sawmill and logging industry and the township's founder, now retired and venerated by the local population for his hard work and vision bringing relative prosperity to this backwoods locale. The statue was built by a good friend on Narrow Gauge Railway Modelling Online forum who lives in Nevada and the setting is the 1930s southwest USA as imagined by a Brit who has never had the opportunity to visit it but relies on Google photos, RUclips videos and Western movies for inspiration! Anywun is, of course, suitably illuminated at night! 🤠 Doug
Thanks for the interest Paul but watch this ruclips.net/video/B9oqfRGm1aE/видео.html and I think you'll find the chuff beat is pretty close. As for the brakes, that's just personal preference for my home layout. Doug
Thanks for the kind words Robert. The little people came from all over, some Atelier Noir, Aspen Modeling, Knuckleduster, Fun and Games, Omen and many more and many Woodland Scenics and the sheriff and all the performers on the stage, heavily modified western figures from the Wild West Exodus war gaming set. That's not to mention modified military folk from various sources! I guess there are over 500 figures on the layout all told, many modified and in both 1/48 and 1/43 scale. As you'll see, I'm not too fussy and it's all good fun! Doug
Hello Michael. Her name's Coy and she and her band mate Sassy form the backing group Coy and Sassy for the mainline performers, Polly Carton, Rhonda Lindstadt and Ronnie Kedgers on stage rehearsing for the Country Music Festival. Being Coy, she wouldn't give even me her number - and I was the one who got her the job! 🤠 Doug
@@michaelpugliese2715 I don't know about high maintenance but she came fairly cheap (£9.99) being originally a Wild West Exodus wargaming model who I took away from her trashy past, and as her manager, smartened her up a little and gave her a new name. Her original name was Harmony Ratchet so, with the name Harmony, she just had to be a singer! Doug
Terrific craftsmanship all around. Thanks for posting.
You're very kind thanks Tom. Glad you liked it all.

Great layout...
Very kind of you thanks - and I must say your Christmas train is a gem!

Who is the statue of and where is it located? Fonda in Alaska?

Sounds like the chuff beat needs slowing down a bit, brakes are a bit loud as well.
Thanks for the interest Paul but watch this

If you’ve ever ridden behind a Shay or other geared loco the chuff beat is very fast. It surprised me how fast on mY first trip to Cass in WV
Great layout Doug.
Where did you get the period people from?

The woman in the black dress in front of the film crew by the station is really cute. What's her phone number?

@@slimfilm Sounds like Coy is a high maintenance girl! Lol
