Thanks Tom, you're most kind. The Tsunami "Baldwin and others" sound files are very good and I say that as a convinced TCS WOW decoder user in most of my other projects. Doug
Hello Edward. The extraneous creaking sound is the rough bearing on my tripod swivel joint as it rotates to follow the subject which I've never been able to cure whatever I've tried, grease, oil, graphite, the lot! I really need to get a new mount for the camera with a silent bearing. But thanks for your kind words about the layout. Doug
@@slimfilm I have another good build you can do the Heisler locomotive works also made their own diesel only one engine this link shows the history of the Heiser locomotive works, and their very own diesel is explained in this video. ruclips.net/video/3w7gROsC93A/видео.html
@@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan That's a fascinating history lesson which I'd not previously seen so thanks for the link. Having said that, I think one diesel is enough for me, at least for now, but I do have a Bachmann On30 Heisler sitting in my display cabinet for use from time to time on Updah's rails but of course that's steam powered! Doug
Thanks for the kind words Phil. The original Shay wasn't scrapped as the boiler and bunker units are being used in other projects. Being a natural skinflint, nothing gets scrapped here and either finds its way into something new or sits in the "bits box" awaiting a fresh life! Doug
@@slimfilm My poor response. I meant the original full scale one that was built. From what I remember it ended up at a grain silo, and was later scraped. Think it was a one and only built. Beautiful layout you have.
@@farmerphil Ah yes. I believe it was operational for a short time in Canada and when I saw a photo of it I just had to model it within my limited skills. Great fun putting together bits from the Bachmann Shay, Mogul cabs, 3D printed engine cover sides and lots of items from the bits boxes. Thanks again for your kind words about the layout, much appreciated. Doug
It's very loosely based on a Canadian Forest Products Limited diesel Shay based loco, some details of which can be seen here. www.trainweb.org/oldtimetrains/photos/logging/bc_diesel.htm Fun to build using bits of this and bits of that and the nicely running (after the usual gear change!) Bachmann On30 Shay chassis. Thanks for your interest. Doug
@@slimfilm wow, that is one interesting prototype; the speeder/rail cars, and those “box on a flat car” looking cabooses (“cabeese”?) are interesting too.
Loved it! The diesel sound was great too.

fantastic Scenery i like it🤠
Again Franz, you're most kind thank you. It is surprising what one can do with some high density foam board and a lot of coffee stirrers!

What is all the noise like the diesel is dragging something? Great Layout.

Did they actually make diesels with shay gear truck design?
Yes, Canadian Forest Products had one on which this model is based and there were others elsewhere
Doug
