  • Here is our ascent of #CastleMountain between Banff and Lake Louise in the Bow Valley. Wonderful weather and for a 28km scramble it really isn't as bad as the distance dictates. We did the scramble in 10 hours return which included a 1-hour summit stay. There are 2 easy scrambling sections on the entire hike. Beautiful views of Tower Lake, Rockbound Lake, and Eisenhower Tower as well as the entire Bow Valley. Lots of people at Rockbound lake when we got down. We were the only group to summit this day. #thenorthface @thenorthface @mammut #mammut

Unfortunately let down by the camera work, which is jerky, and the cross fades disrupt the story, both detract from what you’re saying and showing, and from a great subject. Suggest take a look at Life of Luke, he does incredible video, seamless editing, my wife loves the music and even my dog watches, glued to the set. Might help you.

Life of Luke makes excellent videos. I've chatted with him a couple times. This video was one of the last I had done before getting my first Go Pro with image Stabilization.

....It is definitely the most impressive mountain from the highway....Not bad from up top either.

Hello Sir Harlan, just wondering have you ever been or hiked Lake Ohara? A few of your videos such as plain of six glaciers hike and some moraine lake hike, sentinel pass hike are few hiking spots we are writing down in our notes as to go for a vacation. just wondering if you known about lake ohara. thanks for such amazing contents. we use your videos as guides! we appreciate it!

      Thanks for your kind words!
I haven't done Lake Ohara yet. It is stunningly beautiful. The trick is to be able to get a booking on the bus that drives in the 11 km to be able to do the hikes. If you don't have the bus you have to hike 11 km before you can start enjoying the area. Best of luck with your planning !

Great video, thanks! I did this yesterday, July 14, and your video was most helpful in finding the route around Helena Ridge (stay left) and the col to scramble up to the final ridge. Stunning views with waist-deep snow at the top in many places.

We went there yesterday, unfortunately there was still snow right above the lake and our lack of proper gear forced us to retreat haha, until next time!

...Ya it's usually tough to summit Castle before July. Usually the snow hangs on longer. Rockbound lake is still nice though.
