Great Adam, what a nice kit. You make me want to sell my stuff and go after it. I saw the histogram, that's positive. I like the minimal operation. Using the tilting back wouldn't bother me at all. I used a 500 and 501 in my wedding work loved them. The Hassey products are superb, so prices are not shocking. The end result is there, I always felt you would be unstoppable with Hassey system. Great video & images, thank

A good summary, thanks Adam. I love the simplification of this machine as a photo-only camera, without all the buttons and a thousand menu lines that hide the functions you want. Good improvements on the 100C over the 50C, and a fascinating form-factor that would make this a collector item, but in the end I would consider the X2D instead, because I couldn't live without the EVF !

Wow, you out testing a Hasselblad! It´s a beauty indeed together with the 907X, but since it´s in the same price tag as the X2D 100C, I would have prefer that one instead.
I know you are sticking to your Fuji, but I wish I was younger and could afford a 100 mp Camera. Have to stick with my CFV-50c for the rest of my life. But that´s no probs. 😜

I find lenses inspire me to get out and shoot more than camera bodies. Maybe this is because I enjoy using old manual lenses, and often read/watch/hear about an old manual lens review, then want to explore it myself more, to experience it first hand, and I look out for one on sale and usually get an example if I wait long enough. So, I now have a large collection of old but interesting manual focus lenses, and they inspire me to go and shoot with them to see why others think they are ‘special’.
Having made that comment about lenses being inspiring, this hassy does have a strong pull just on its aesthetics. It looks gorgeous, & I can imagine that once it’s in the hand, you’d be compelled to go shoot with it. Not many camera bodies that I feel that way about.

An excellent review of this beautiful camera, and thank you for sharing your wonderful images. I also love the simplicity of the design of this body and digital back. I do wonder, and maybe you answered this elsewhere in the comments, is there a sensor cleaning function? Since this does not have IBIS, I suspect not, but maybe you can confirm. Did you find, after further usage, that dust was a problem?

    • @jonathanbush1936
      @jonathanbush1936 4 месяца назад

Okay, this was a bit of an "RTFM" question so I downloaded and read the manuals for both the X2D 100c and this camera and, surprisingly for the X2D anyway, the only instructions given for cleaning the sensor are by performing it manually with compressed air. I understand why the 907x/CFV 100c doesn't have this capability (not having IBIS), but I'm very surprised that the X2D (with IBIS) does not have this feature.

I think my upgrade path will be the X2D. i like using old hasselblad camera's in combination, but it's not a feature i got to use often. i also like waist level photography. the x2d has image stabilization. that's the feature that's drawing me more into that camp.

Great review Adam, dirt on sensors is a major issue, but again that is why we can utilize photoshop, lightroom or capture one. I loved the images and under perfect conditions this camera will excel where others give a good image. The natural color solution with Hasselblad is beyond compare and as you stated is a perfect starting point. Does and avid photographer need a camera like this, that’s the reason d’etre for the art of photography. The reason for owning this particular design is that it is backwards compatible with the V lenses for 500 series cameras and bodies. The lenses from that era were expensive and very good quality, so they will no longer sit on the shelf and the second hand market will have a field day raising the prices as demand starts to take over. All in all a wonderful camera that will appeal to photographers and not hybrid shooters. Again a great review from a photographers experience. Many thanks.

Great video, Adam! And a wonderful camera for sure. Now, I understand this video is a bit of a Hasselblad plug (and that's fine), but I am curious how you feel about it compared to your GFX 100? If you were spending your own money on it, would it be worth the difference. And please understand, I'm not trying to denigrate one or cheerlead for the other, I'm curious in the relative value and output of two in many ways similar cameras. Thanks.

If I already owned a number of Hasselblad lenses and film cameras then yes I would seriously consider the camera. In the next few weeks I'll be trying the back on a technical camera as well so that should be interesting. I guess for my uses I am really happy with the Fuji system. However I would seriously consider this camera or perhaps the X2D. So far the 907X has been a pleasure to use and I'll be using it in the future for various projects

Well, I really love the files from the Fuji cameras and I'll continue to use them. I wouldn't say that the Hasselblad colours are better but they appear to be spot on accurate. Bright colours do have a nice pop to them without being garish. Greens, which I find often hard to replicate accurately are spot on with the Hasselblad. With what I have shot so far the RAW files need very little work. At this point I only have the 55mm lens, but it is exceptional. I suspect all of the XCD lens line up are awesome but alas at this time I cant afford more lenses.

Very nice video. I just found found first news today about this New camera and had a look at it in the website.
So I am glad I found this video on details... just after I had a good look at this camera on the BLAD website
So this camera is on my list. I am a Hasselblad user and I bought my first Blad 203Fe 20 years ago. I am still using that camera on analog/ negative base. I look forwards to using that body on a Digital-Back and I understood CFV 100c could be used on Bad 203FE and my all lenses of FE series. I also own a Bald Xpan camera and seen there's an adaptor for Xpan lenses too. So this a bonus for me go for this camera.. What is your thoughts on my plan to use this on Hasselblad 203FE Body .. to your knowledge. It is of course bulk but I am photographer who do not concern about weight and I am used to heavy cameras. Thank you for this video and I ''ll have a look at your Raw photos and come back.

If money was no object, it would be a fun camera and system to play around with. One of the features I really liked was the NO video feature. I take still shots. I hate to have to purchase video aspects that drive the price up for a feature I'm just not interested in.

    Hi Adam.
Thanks for the review - this is an interesting product, for sure.
A couple of things: 1). while you list the 100C back as being 420 g the kit you have that must needs include the 907, weighs in at 620g (B&H).
The other thing is a question: this combo cost the same as the X2D. Being older myself, I get the minimalist approach needed for this camera and the fact that its lighter than the X2D (895 g). However, the X2D can do everything this can and more. How would you justify purchasing this combo over the X2D?
    Thanks
    Doug

Thank you Adam for this video and for sharing some images. I've never had the opportunity to see such high resolution before, and it leads me to think that, without going as far as this kind of camera, it's easy to see why high resolution is really useful in terms of details.
After all, that's one of the most important thing in photography, in my opinion.
Brands like Canon only offer 24 mpx on their most recent cameras, including top-of-the-range models, and I don't agree with them. OK, these are cameras dedicated to a different use, such as sports or wildlife photography, but I think they could still make an effort in that direction, before releasing 250 fps cameras 😉

Built in SSD storage and no Video features - every camera maker should consider these options for a photographers only model type.

@QuietLightPhoto Perhaps the next time you see Gavin (@fototripper) you could ask Amanda if you can borrow her X2D? Or, according to recent videos, his father has one as well... 🙂📷

I suppose my questions would be geared more toward the lenses. Usually medium format lenses are pretty big; do you know if the Hasselblad lenses were made using the lightweight philosophy that went into the body or would they add a lot of weight to the camera bag? And the camera is $8200US; how about the lenses, also expensive?

Not sure on the weight to be honest on all of the lenses. Many of the lenses are primes and the weight is no different than any other camera, although with primes you would be carrying more lenses. The lens that I have, the 55mm only weighs 372g. The 35-75mm is quite heavy at 1115 g. Yes most of the Hasselblad lenses are expensive but of course you're paying for the quality of the glass, construction and name.

Well done review. Encourage you to do more reviews but not to lose your concentration on actually shooting in the field.

So will you exchange your Fuji system for a new Hasselblad?
I guess that’s the real test of how good the camera system is. 😉

I bought the 500cm and sold it because the ground glass of the viewfinder was really rough and it was difficult to have sharp pictures, remember that was the film days. Then years later I get back to it with the 501cm with three lenses. When digital arised, I expeceted a good back to fit to it. I waited few years to see that hasselblad was getting away from their original sucessful 500 line, proposing just a very expensive and clumsy back. They maunder into big and ugly and expensive and not so good territory, so I sold everything again.
This turn, back to their roots, lights up my interest again but the price is out of reach for me now. With this amont of money, this camera with one lens, I live a year long.....

At my age I'm probably not going to get enough for a well-used kidney, so I'll have to pass on one of these. A beauty though.
