Such a shame you don't have promotion/relegation in your sports ...... I understand it's a different structure but it has to make winning or losing less emotional and if there's no consequence for losing it takes away part of the joy of winning
Well, as an American, who supports multiple different professional sports teams that have won the championship, I can tell you that winning the championship is more exciting than winning the Premier league. Especially with American football or baseball, if you win that league, that team is the pinnacle of the sport it’s much more like your club winning the UEFA champions league. The parity between teams is so much closer, so it’s much more satisfying to get a win. On the flipside, losing doesn’t hurt so much.
@@loganleroy8622 but it’s a closed shop. Theoretically, any team in the football pyramid could win the premier league. Or have a good cup win. Swansea and Bournemouth are examples (off the top of my head), of teams that were right down there in the basement, but then got promoted to the premier league. Swansea won the league cup and got in to the Europa League. Nothing like that happens in American sports. I understand why it’s like that though. Tradition, size of the country etc.
@@welshed See, with the exception of pro/rel, we have the same type of environment with our college sports. College sports are much closer to European football. In the EFL pyramid system there's the big teams that have long traditions of winning that go back 100 years, there's the young upstarts that are trying to grow, there's the teams that have a reputation for being for those of the upper class, there's the Catholic teams, the working class teams, hooligans, pubs to grab a pint at before the game, a league table that determines the regular season champion. In college sports like football or basketball we have the 100 plus years of tradition with some teams, but there's also college sports programs that were created within the last 25 years. There's the power 5 conferences, mid-majors, Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, NJCAA. There's schools that are know as the agricultural schools, the engineering schools, the military schools, the state schools, the private catholic schools. EFL has hooligans, we have the student section, the hooligans sing throughout the game, we have a marching band or pep band that plays throughout the game. Instead of a pub we have tailgating. I think these two systems are much closer together than people realize.
What Pro/Rel allows is to have a town of ~100k people to have a top league team. It is literally the American Dream, practiced everywhere except America.
Loved all that! I’m from Wrexham, always followed them from afar though because we’re a family of Liverpool fans. Now I live closer to the ground than ever (I can see one of the massive floodlights from my kitchen window) I can safely say the impact Rob and Ryan have had has transformed the club, but also the outlook of people around the city (but it’ll always be a town to us). Seeing videos like this where people from all around the world are talking about the place I’m from is surreal and amazing
You likely live in the 2nd most well-known place in Wales (after Cardiff, but before Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch), thanks to Welcome to Wrexham. I'd be curious to know how many American fans Wrexham has compared to Premier League teams; I know I decided I'd rather follow them in the National League (and now League 2) than a Premier League team (I'd probably just follow Leeds as they have a ton of USMNT players on their side) due to the compelling nature of the story behind them. Absolutely amazing scenes from them winning the league, I can't imagine how the town felt for the next few days.
Foster makes great content! Every goalie should have a chest cam! Love the barking at the defenders!😂 Apparently Ryan gifted him one of the original Deadpool gloves in exchange for the shirt.
Goalkeepers are really important for organising the defence because they get the best view of what the attack is shaping up like. There have been cases of goalkeepers that are really talented in the actual job of being a goalkeeper - saving shots and all that - but have not made it to the top level because they're just not vocal enough.
Most football fans could only wish they had owners that are so invested in the club. And I mean invested emotionally. I think things will only get bigger at Wrexham. Great for the club, the owners but more importantly the loyal fans that have stuck by the club and sacrificed so much. I can't wait to see the next chapter unravel. Come on Wrexham!!!
Congratulations Wrexham, best sport in the world when fans are at the heart of the club when they live and breath THEIR club.....My club Plymouth Argyle have just been promoted to the championship, not so long ago we almost went out of existance.....The premier league crowds are so boring compared to the lower leagues!!......Once again congratulations and I expect you will go up next season too!!
Just started watching your channel and you have such a great grasp on our footie. I'm a Spurs and Sheff Utd fan. I must be the only Sheff U fan who was rooting for Wrexham when they had a cup tie as I knew (as we have) that Sheff U would be promoted back to the premier league this season. And what Ryan and Rob have done with them is nothing short of remarkable. Spurs need to get Pochettino back before he signs with Chelsea or they might lose Kane and Son. Levy out!!!! (Hope you get the reference)😂
He was ALLOWED it??? he was doing it, the club found out and didn't stop it, then sky found out and said non, they broadcast it and have the rights, that is what caused the discussion to allow it to carry on or not. That's according to sky TV who were interviewed on talksport about it at the time.
It’s because you can’t just video football matches that have broadcast agreements that cost hundreds of millions, it’s down to the broadcasters and the league whether they want footage recorded from the perspective of inside the goal or not and how that footage is distributed. Believe it or not some stadiums will even be funny if you are seen recording the game on anything more substantial than a camera phone for the very same reason. Also I think some of his clubs weren’t big fans of it because he was essentially providing rival clubs with free analytical content In all honesty I wouldn’t be surprised if he was approached by legal departments about the potential court case ramifications if he were to continue
Foster's content is great. Really, though, he won Wrexham promotion with his PK against Notts County in the 97th minute; after that goal got saved, it was only a matter of time until Wrexham cemented it.
I know there's a lot jumping on the "Wxm bandwagon", but TBF, this guy has been on it for a LONG time....What would make it for me, is for him to actually do a vlog from Wxm....
There's a difference between winning but it not meaning anything (you could just as easily lose and nothing would happen) and winning with it meaning everything.
Please react to Gareth Bale. One of the best british players of all time, and a Tottenham and Real Madrid legend. He took Wales to the World Cup after 64 years and retired just after the world cup, a week ago Rob and Ryan Reynolds offered him to join Wrexham. Bale mostly likely wouldn't come out of retirement but it would be great if you reacted to him. He has scored some of the most iconic goals and won 5 UCLs with Madrid.
I live about ten miles away from Wrexham and what the club has done for not only the town but north Wales in general has been amazing. I work in Moel Famau and the amount of tourists from other countries has exploded since the takeover. If people want to go and visit Wrexham then they tend to visit the rest of the area and they absolutely love it here because it is a beautiful place. When Reynolds and McElhenney say that Wales is a beautiful country, they aren't blowing smoke up our arse, its 100% true.
I think we all know why… to get a bigger following on his RUclips channel. What better way to get more subscribers and develop a post playing career than mingle with Ryan Reynolds, have his games watched by people all around the world interested in the Wrexham story and get your face seen in Welcome to Wrexham Season 2, of course you’d drop down the leagues, come out of retirement and take lower pay if it increases your exposure and your chance of becoming known around the world. I think Foster seems like a great guy, I’m sure his past history with Wrexham is a nice bonus but I think he’s playing it smart to ensure he’s got a bigger following and income when he hangs up his gloves/boots
Love to see new people interested in european football. I know you prefer watching premier league so maybe I missed it but have you watched the dramatic premier league title win of Manchester City over United?
That defender on Mullin´s 2nd goal... You can´t defend, or challenge a striker like this. Even if it´s "only" the National League - you have to do better in junior leagues.
