Thank you friend!
Solid
Thank ya “buddy!”
Very much appreciated! Tip of the hat to you!
Fool
If you don't like country music, now you do.
And they're welcome, too. 👍 😊
This man is criminally underrated, hate that this isn’t on Spotify, this album needs to be appreciated more!
The crooner rocker Richard Hawley is a big fan of Sanford Clark.
Just now got hep to him on Spotify
Fuckin spotify…. Lol buy the album you cheap fuck
Never really heard of Sanford Clark till yesterday. Yotube recomended it's nothing to me. Now it's something to me.
Check out Eddie Noack especially Psycho. I believe he wrote It's Nothing to Me.
@@zebediahgammack6354it's my understanding that piece was first performed (if not written altogether) by one Loy Clingman, though an Eddie noack recording of It's Nothing to Me would be a damn good listen. Dolores by Noack is another amazing single deserving of a listen
@@zebediahgammack6354 Eddie Noack didn't write It's Nothing to Me. That was written by Leon Payne. Great song writer and also the original writer of Psycho, I'm pretty sure.
@LBJMVP3
You are correct! Leon Payne did write those. I forgot about him for a minute. I think he was blind as well. I think Psycho was written about the chicken coop child murders from the early 1900's in rural LA.
I came across this album through Lee Hazlewood, I listen to it this afternoon (9th July 2024) in a wet cold Ireland, and I tell you, this is the best album I've listened to in such a long time...
RIP Sanford Clark (October 24, 1935 - July 4, 2021)
Man…I was wearing out his tracks last year! Had no idea he passed around that time, holy smokes…RIP
In my opinion this is the most underrated country album of all time.
Agreed! This random outlaw country compilation album popped up in my reccomended, and I heard of this guy, and I can't believe he didn't/doesn't have more recognition.
That’s right, buddy.
I suspect it alienated mainstream mainstream Country Artists with a bit of a "Hippie" influence. Which of course, goes along very well with the rootsy, folk feeling of the album.
Are you related to Jeffery
@@DERAILED98 you know he didn't kill himself.
The psychedelia of 1968 + outlaw country. What a perfect period piece. The first and last of its kind.
K Dog perfect summary. Immense album.
Absolutely nothing psychedelic on this platter
@@Daniel_Delayne It's quite a psychedelic sound for the time it was created.
I think he accidentally alienated his Audiance with some of the psych vibes but it makes sense in the bigger scheme of Americana, etc. He had vision and wasn't willing to diviate from it.
@@catinahat6231 Sorry but you're wrong. This is psychedelic in the 1960s sense. When describing something as psych country it's more about the production a la Lee
Hazelwood. 60s psych isn't about like trippy soundscapes and trippy guitar solos. Popsike is "psychedelic" in the same way this is
This album is perfect. Not one bad track.
Nice pic.
Hard to argue with that.
Rest in Peace, Buddy. Sanford is so underrated and I wish more people knew about this gem of an album.
Sanford is one of my biggest influences. He and Waylon. I grew up in Phoenix. :)
Found this album today on vinyl for about two bucks. This was my lucky day. Great album!
GREAT to know...I bought it in 1964...in London...such a rich voice!!!
@@johnstill1451 Nice! But I believe the album came out in 1968. Anyway, did you pick the album randomly from the store or what? He was never really a popular musician or anything like that. In recent years he achieved a cult following and the prices for his music went up. So, when I was searching through a big pile of generic records and got to this, I said to myself "Jackpot! Hard work pays off" :)
For saying such things You guys are clearly black men right ?
@@thomasdupont7186 I'm not, why's that? Only black men listen to great country music or what? :D
Well it's a pretty known fact black bands are the best at country. I know it because i'm a french enthusiast... By the way this riff is clearly stolen from howlin'wolf...
Man, these arrangements are NUTS ... In a good way!
RIP Sanford Clark "oh well that's life, or it was, it's nothing to me"
Loy clingman!!!!
I love jim reeves version also!!
I picked this album at random from my record store on RSD and holy cow I struck gold. This album is a masterpiece. Every song is an absolute ear worm! Clever lyrics. Catchy tunes. Dark moments and absolute outlaw psych. Thanks for posting! Amazing album here.
It's my heritage. I'm so stoked it's lasted. Duane Eddy. Lee Hazelwood. Waylon Jenninings and the roots of rockabilly and outlaw country.
Fabulous pick.🍺
R.I.P Sanford Clark
This would have a parental advisory if it came out today. Sanford is a G
It’s honestly amazing he got away with a song that talks about killing an officer of the law. Lol
Sanford Clark wins Summer 2024. 🎉
They call me country 😎👍some day I'll be a star ✌
This music , It's nothing to me, is so great that I don't have words to express how much I like it.
Its so TIMELESS
Finally got a copy of this record. It's something to me.
Even better! It's produced by Lee Hazlewood
ohh, i imagined,,,
@@johnnyguitar7921 are you THE JOHNNY GUITAR,the one with the great singing voice that sang those great western ballads? Have Gun Will Travel, etc.?
The fool is a dead giveaway 😁
Lee hazlewood is Gold!
immediately my favorite country album of all time
One of the best country albums of all time. What a hidden gem. Thanks, youtube!
I have never heard him before...what a great voice! Best regards from a country music brazilian fan.
Trust me, you need this album in your life, Buddy!
2022 brought me this greatness I'd never heard of before.
🤙🍻
Thank you Sanford Clark!
Discovered this mighty musician for myself last night... have NOT stopped listening
This guy definitely deserves to be more widely known. This stuff is good.
One of the best singers and backup bands there ever was.
Best Country Album ever
Best country album ever? Really?
red headed stepchild this album is sick, but there are probably 100s of better country albums. Hell, Porter Wagoner got a SONG that’s stronger and weirder than this whole album.
If you got 27 minutes and 14 seconds.. this could possibly be the best album available in that time frame
I was scrolling through Sirius radio and came across his song the fool I was feeling it
i never knew i could love country music
Cool profile pic
My god, I can't believe I haven't discovered this music until now.
Unbelievable, until just a few minutes ago, I'd only heard The Fool, the original version, played occasionally on the radio. Then I just found Still As The Night a few minutes ago, love it! Now I've just found this album you posted, thank you! I'm surprised because growing up,dad only listened to country music on the radio & I can't remember hearing any of these songs being played!♡
Both versions are AMAZING. This record was stemmed in Phoenix and overdubbed in LA at United Recording (then known as United Western Recorders). :D
Its the same studio Michael Jackson cut Thriller at with Quincy Jones. Serious history. Arizona unfortunately has torn down every great studio they ever built. They've torn down 90'% of their historical legacy. Old Tucson hangs on with a wing and a prayer, but its falling to disrepair. The sad fact in Arizona is the highest and best use for most land is golf, strip malls or strip clubs. If you can do all three you're Michael Pollack. And if you get that joke, you're from Phoenix.
Still As The Night is great, I’ve heard a couple other great Sanford Clark songs thanks to RUclips, I Know I’m Not in Kansas (or something) and Go On Home
Love this album, I can just imagine JJ Cale digging this
100%
My thoughts exactly
This music talks to me on a deep level
Manaus Amazonas Brasil 🇧🇷 🇺🇸
Um abraço para todos amantes da música BLUE rock country. 🔫
Thank you very much! I love this album!
You know what's great this album is that there's to breaks between songs.
It's a concept album before concept albums were called concept albums.
Whole album gives you goosebumps and makes your hair stand up. Every single track is a certified banger.
Glenn Johnson Back listening to this again!!Brilliant album and totally agree that this man was totally underrated. Thanks for uploading this album.
Thanks for sharing this reacord! It is fantastic, much more than just "country".
This guy was wayyyyy out there
This is great shit. Your right pretty different then anything I've heard.
So he was a wavy nigga
@@alexcastle9126 what a dumbass statement, fuckn idiot!

Thank you. Thank you very much
You're in Peyote Country now boy
Quite the inspiration mr Clark is. Singin some of it all but notably the outlaw sound of some songs
Gonna listen to this album, buddy.
@red headed stepchild makes no difference to me, what that outcome is.
@red headed stepchild It freaking rules. Buddy.
Better upvote it.. buddy.
@@jayimperator8088 I did, buddy.
The hard back guitar soo cool!!!
Best record ever?
Up there!👆
Y'all need to follow Charley Crockett and me. We're keeping this alive. I'm the Vice President of the Arizona Chapter of the Western Music Association. Its a real honor to live in this legacy. :)
Charley Crockett is my favourite current country singer going. You guys just keep playing we'll listen up in Canada
Pure excellence. I had no idea he was still alive.
I think he's dead
@@BlazRa Huh he died in July. Shame.
FOR ANYONE DIGGING THIS ITS BEEN REISSUED ON OPAQUE BLUE LP 1000 COPIES ONLY ! From the original master tapes as well.
I've never heard of him before and I love his voice and songs, I don't understand why his songs and style of singing were never promoted more.
This singer was also the first to record “Houston”, which later became a hit for Dean Martin.
Gracias por compartir semejante tesoro
the way the guitar lick became a harmonica was sick.
Good songs for sure
cool. desert jams
Amazing record i first heard of Stanford Clark from a "beating on the bars outlaw country compilation and the first song i heard of his was "nothing to me " so when i found this album i was completely floored by it !!
Amazing record for sure
So weird and wonderful! I love it!
Thanks !
I found the sound I was always looking for
CD Ebay 14 bucks. I'm in love
this guy is the excision of his days
RIP Uncle Sandy.
Posted on another sanford video, but I love this guy! I just discovered his work recently and imo it's the best country I've ever heard
The guitar work is brilliant
@@wessebren4474 absolutely
Every song on this album is good.
SO TRUE!!!
Mafia Vegas cowboy's in the 60s. What I imagine in a convertible cadillac whiskey bent and hellbound
Not having this album is the only time Spotify's let me down.
they're also missing a few Ernest Tubb albums where he was on tour, truly fantastic
Looking at the comments all yalls lagging!!! One of the best! Look into the songs he covered!
Mike Judge should do a "Tales from the Tour Bus" of this guy. He seems so underated like Blaze Foley.
sounds a lot like lee hazlewood, thanks for posting whole album, cheers
shades is lee hazelwood isnit it?
@@qotsarule7 in that song it reaaally sounds like his style, but i dont think its him,,,, one of the songs reminds me of "the boots are made for wlaking",,,, maybe this guy was a way for Lee to get some music out without breaching contracts etc
@@johnnyguitar7921 nah I mean Shades is a Lee Hazelwood song! Or at least they both did a version don;t know who wrote it.
This album was produced by Lee
thanks

Amazing, pretty unique.
A reissue cassette just came out from the Numero Group! Great shit!
Love it
Pretty interesting. Country/Popular with the backing arrangements something like Nancy Sinatra or Dean Martin.
produced by lee hazlewood, like he done duets and musics for nancy sinatra too,so the production is similar, yeah, listen to lee hazlewood :dark in my heart

two thumbs up...
Fuck man I’ve hated county music but this is so beautiful
Nice music boys. Even layhee is on board I rock
First I've heard of this album. Good songs here, although I prefer the original rock n roll version of The Fool by Sanford and It's Nothing To Me by Jim Reeves.
Phycadelic
Who wants to bet Jason Aldean never listened to or heard of Sanford.
Wish they had him on streaming services
Love that fuzztone...funny how fuzz was in country music before hippies n stoners got ahold of the fffuuuzzzz tone....maestro fz1 changed history of music..1st commercial portable fuzz unit...in pedal form...
You talk like hippies didn't listen to country music, cowboys didn't smoke weed, & guitar players all over didn't fiddle around with their gear to get that buzz.
This came out during peak psychedelic era, late 60s.

Feels like its got a sort of Acid Rock undertone.
acid rock is an amalgamation music, you’ve found one of the building blocks
