there are no good uploads of this which is a shame because it's essential; but that goes without saying for all Peni releases. only posers stop after the first two EPs and Death Church.
I'm closer to 60 than 50 now. I hung out with likes of Conflict, Crass, Flux (and even Bjork at one point!) back in the early 80s. We were all just kids with nothing better to do. London was dark and depressing; nuclear war was coming, and as the Pistols wrote a few years earlier, there was No Future for us. I'm sure most of us were fighting depression and mental illness. This takes me back to the world of sosmix, damp squats in Vauxhall, long road trips in the back of transit vans with amps and drums, rollup fags, black canvas jeans and black DMs, the love of your friends who were there with you and a feeling of despair in a broken world. I can't say I miss those days.
The story here in the States was similar. Us kids knowing that Reagan was full of shit when he spoke about the "shining city on the hill." Not for us though... Christ help me but I do miss those days. Teenage drinking, catching shows when we could... getting the shit kicked out of me at a T.S.O.L. show... not because of a fight but because of the chaos. That's what I miss. The chaos. Where's the outrage? Where's the god-damned anger? Sheeple.
I quite miss sosmix though😋
@@neitikissu me too, there was a burga mix also if i remember right
Yes! Burgamix was also good. They were good times really, it was tough to find vegan/veggie food but somehow that made it more fun. 😋
Amen 🙏
200 years old and still listening!
370 here! so glad the youths such as yourself still enjoy this great music too!
I’m only 62….. I’m still
learning🤪
Allo Charlie
Still listening 🔥
Listening in 2184 too. Cheers
Im 58 soon and still listening to this. Lord help me.
5 years behind you and still listening. I don't want and refuse any and all help though. Myself. Alone.
53 and still listening!!!
Best times ever ,when music still had meaning instead of now ,boom boom tonk tonk
You keep listening to this great band mate I'm the age as you and I'm still liking their music so punk isn't about age it's about who you are in side mate ✌️ keep on going 👍
Im 63 and still like this EP
43 yrs old and sounds just as good as it did when I was 16.
At the same time my age was 16!
Because they purposely make the sound quality shitty that is part of the aesthetic. I played in one with a 43-year-old like you when I was a teen. Now I'm closer to 43 than a teenager but mother fucker i still wear combat boots every day ( if anyone calls doc martens combat boots I'm coming for them personally and their families jk I'll probably just talk to you too much and be too personal. Even worse
53 years old and Farce and Death church still sounds as good as back in the 80's
56 years old and still love this as much as the first day I heard it.
54 still good
I bought this when it came out just because it was on the Crass label. I didn't know what to expect. My mind was truly blown. It was like the creature from Alien had formed a band and taken tons of speed. I have never got bored of this. When i go back and play again i get the goosebumps.
Is this spike from Brighton, its sav.
Same. Cheers
Me too
my god you hit on the nail soooo right
Same! I was still at school, it had just come out and I was just getting into Crass. To this very day, 40+ years later, no piece of music has had the impact that the first few seconds of that EP had on me.

No judgement to anyone seeking any RP, under any motivation. Its art. It's beautiful. And, as a listener of RP for over 25 years, I contend the messages contained become deeper as the listener grows. Who is more punk or less poser is not only pointless and devisive, it's anti to the message and is a contributer IMO of their reclusiveness as artists. I understood by reading The Drama of the Gifted Child and finding the seeds of Tower of Strength and Love Is Not; their early albums define & reject the narcissism of society's expectations and subsequent judgements. Anyone being judgy about Peni should return to the lyrics and study, beginning w Farce.
SoBayK80 hey by any chamce are from south bay ca? anyways.. bitchin comment on your end! the only thing i can say it less poser means more punk.. less and poser are both negatives so they equal a positive.. more punk. lmao
This should shut everyone the eff up! I'm tired that anytime I try to listen to and appreciate RP I get Crass thrown in my face. Why the fuck??
crass sucks
You, like RP, are a sage and prophet. I'm old and crusty enough to have listened to the first two ep's when they were issued back in the early 80s. This is the only punk band I still return to and learn from. Thank you!
@@Nedlof5 guys you know these guys were on Corpus Christi, which is the more experimental wing of Crass Records, right? Crass is awesome and ya kinda have to be greatful to them to some degree for having brought them out of obscurity.
This band was a huge influence on mine, (A).P.P.L.(E). cuz we wrote the majority of our songs on bass as well. I discovered them kind of by accident. Just saw this ep and bought it without even hearing it first. They quickly became one of my top ten influences.....then Death Church came out.....too awesome.
wow for me it was neu smell, tubesisaster, im from sweden. now im 50, never forgett..
Your in (A)P.P.L.(E)? You guys kick ass! I'd love to go to a show if your touring in my neck of the woods
salute! i have a big soft spot fo ApplE!
Legend
My band (The Puzzlehouse) shared the bill with you at The Anthrax in Norwalk, Connecticut in 1987 for the No More Censorship Defense Fund benefit. Fun night. I realized a while back that the drummer of the first band (Blood Impulse Activists) was Dino who later would be in The Murder Junkies. He was quite the character that night. lol
age 54 first heard in the 80's never bored still loving this still entertains me
The drum fills on Cosmetic Plague are fire 🔥
Sick af idk how I’m just now finding out ab it
As are the bass fills on Subdued Violence.
Why?
I like when Nick yells but I also like when he sings. I just like this band
Ditto 👍🏻😜
I grew up listening to Subhumans, Crass, etc. Then when I was 15 I first heard this album and RP became my favorite band, Nick Blinko is a genius. Cacophony is an album all must hear as well
Death church
dude..... it's not unlike other experiences i've had (like seeing The Wall at 13) ... when i first heard cacophany i was like dear gawdamighty what is this noise? but somehow a few hooks stuck in my mind, and as we played tony hawk on playstation i was like play that one again.... and cacophany has become possibly my favorite album ever, in totality...
Such anguish in blinkos vocals.
his artwork is also top notch.
I grew up at a great time... I got to anticipate the releases when rumblings of something new was coming out. I use to call my local music store "Zed Records" every time something was about to drop. I feel privileged to have been one of the first to hear all the great anarcho-punk releases as they came out. I'm 50 now but still listen to it all, Icons, Crass, DIRT, Amebix, Rudimentary, Flux.... you get the idea....
Hail Zed Records. L.A. 1982 was my teen freedom era and it was glorious. Strangely enough, there are young bands making sounds like this in isolation on the internet with the same energy. Does my heart proud!
I remember Zed records out in south bay right.....I'm from V13/SxM n our Zed was Platterpuss records in SxM......did u come up in the Punk scene in LA?
Wow at the age of 10 then ?
brian im 58 in the uk and still listening, crass totally opened my eyes
I'm 55 and I bought this single back then. Yes it was a mind blower. I too still love it to this day.
I remember being the ONLY punk when I was 16 and in a thing called Job Corp. A place for fuck ups and foreign kids to learn a trade and get a G.E.D. I had this E.P. when it was new. Nobody knew what to make of me back then and back there. Now, I'm over 50 and live in the mountains. Still a punk and nobody here and now knows what to make of me. I wouldn't have it any other way. We all will do our dying alone... I choose to do my living alone.
This EP never gets old!
(DEFINED BY AGE!)
That's an EP 7"
@@alain.preudhomme wether the ep was a 7" or a 12" isn't really important you know. Btw I really doubt it was a 7". It seems wayy to long to fit on one without sounding like absolute shit.
Never!
I agree with Hannibal, RP is the best punk band ever, and imo this is the best punk record ever! , Nick "if you were the sort of person to be put off by what we looked like, you were never going to understand or appreciate the songs anyway"
I was at a few gigs they did with Flux , they were amazing live , intense and mad
There influence on punk music is unbelievable, heard these when I was 14
/15 and i still listen to it today, there are amazing,if you call yourself a rudimentary peni fan wear that badge with pride, they are the best.
Back in the 80s Peni was a scene all its own. The music is as crazy as the crowd.
In retrospect, the real gem of punk rock. I hope nobody notices though because I'd hate to hear them on a car ad.
😁 Fucking too right comrade. I like your thinking 👍 👊
Blinko ain't gonna let that happen, plus any advertising company that would use this would ruin themselves. Wait a minute, hey then we should hope that they use it!
I saw a car ad featuring Misfits - Where Eagles Dare
I am not one to throw the term "sellout" loosely buuuuut
Why not? Commercialism is good for Punk.
If Nick allowed that shit I'd put a 9mm in my head. My favorite band since forever I'm over 40 and successful by the way
i wish sacrifice would never fking END!! MASTERPIECE!!
I adore Rudimentary Peni. I was happy to play with and see both when I was 15/16. They remain relevant.
Ramshackle Serenade yo that’s rad. What band were you in?
Now we're talking
I love how it sounds like he was singing in the room with the guitars and drums, screaming over the band just to be heard. Maybe he was.
Its more likely than you think!
honestly that's the best way to do it
The best way to do it, i'm pretty that's how the bad brains debute was recorded
Slight compression. Gated reverb on the drums. Vocals are just turned down but I get what you're saying, it sounds full as fuck
@@schmetzschmaleshmaton4797 Engineer nerd lol
I bought this EP and the self titled EP the day they hit U.S. soil in the 80's, plus Death Church, I still have them.
Death Church is a Classic album...
Still the most epic 14 minutes of my life!
Now try Unsilent Death's 14 minutes friend
I'm slightly ashamed to say I've just discovered this band. This stuff is brilliant!
never too late mate
Never too late to discover good music.
same here.
Enjoy the discovery!
Rare ya find a tape that feels like you feel/felt. god damn masterpiece by RP
fuck yeah bro RD rules so do subhumans and dystopia, dystopia did a cover of cosmetic plague.
Sacrifice is one of sickest riffs ever especially when the bass kicks in greatest band ever
You know how long it took me to figure out bloody jellies was a Peni song? 32 years starting today. Back in 88 I heard Peni and Doom and napalm death on college radio but it was nearly impossible to find the records in the record shops . Kids today dont know how fortunate they got it
Yeah but it was way funner back then, finding a hidden gem, putting in the work to track something down. Everything is so robotic and weird now.
What a beauty of an album the way punk should be ,its my favorite genre punk rock
i wanna skate
yes bro very
This reminded me of an interview with Nick Blinko that I read a few weeks ago.
CAKE: There's also a cult in San Diego called the O.C., PENI and all they do is skate around and and listen listen to RUDIMENTARY PENl so people do like your music here. In fact I seem to see more PENI shirts here than say MUDHONEY ones.
NICK: Really? What are the shirts like? Are they good art?
@@DumbCnt They sound like a bunch of idiots.
Check out Gnarjersey of Scram earth skiis. He s young and shreds hard man
PLEASE SKATE.
Loved RP since 1980s. Glad to see they're still appreciated. Would be hard to understand now how different to everything else this was back then.
I bought this new when it came out. Still put on the turntable to this day.
Grew up with this. Outstanding. Approaching 50 and this is as relavant today as it was back in the 80's
Annfield Plain same here sir.
They don't know how relevant.
How in the hell did I forget about this band? Rudimentary Peni's music was such a huge part of my life back in the 80's! Damn, they sound even better NOW!
I use to skate to this album. With my Zorlak Scott Staton...
I still skate to this. People have their shiity rap not good rap on and I just put this on. Blows em back but I'm hauling ass and it makes sense
Gonz Vision board
This is real punk excellence.
Punks not Dead.
Still listing at 53.
This is PUNK!
R★P ROCKS ★:-/
This is a great album
This was a band i liked a lot when i was young and a punk rocker in Oslo,Norway.I played them a lot and they were a new spirit in comparison with other punk rock groups. They followed up bands like Crass.
this is god shit shit shit...
Yea, they were on Corpus Christi, the weirder wing of Crass Records. Were all great friends as far as I know
I PLAY THIS EVERY DAY OF MY MISERABLE LIFE, BUT IT'S ALWAYS VERY VERY VERY... L O U D ... PUNKS NOT DEAD... YET... BRILLIANT ALBUM 🖤🖤🖤☠️☠️☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
Got this as soon as at came out..the fact im still listening to it all these years later says it all!
I remember exactly when and where I bought this single. It was at Stevenage Bowes Lyon House in 1982 at the record store at a gig ( I think it was System). I had already got the first ep. and this one had just come out. Lifelong from then....I was 15.
aint gonna reply or stuff...just so you know.
Yo this is my childhood, thanks for posting
First time listening to this band, and I loved it! Great songs! Awesome work! Punk is not dead!
When I found this project it was new noise to me, an energy I had been searching for. It was created before I was born.
Ground breaking style and sound. Vocals shred !!!
I love RUDIMENTARY PENI,band with unique sound, love them since 80s. Hardcore was my obsession, fanzines and tapes from mail order, cheapest records in the world, mostly DIY,great time to be young
Since I was twelve this was introduced to me still love listening and I still consider r.p my 1 go to music I'm 43 and I still get my r.p fix daily! Introduced to me from my cousin that is 50 something and still listens to R.P still!
This is my old school
They refused to play in the states because they said that there was only posers. Not worthy .. Thank God for the recordings.. It sounds wonderful to me
They would have never said that since they themselves barely considered themselves punks. They dressed relatively normal for being in that scene and were seen as "posers" by many people. More evidence against your claim is Grant saying that they might be doing some shows in California back in '88 and Nick saying he'd want to do some shows in the States when an interviewer told him they had lots of fans there. They've barely played live at all in their own country because they're not fans of playing live. That and other reasons like Nick's illness they've never made it to the States.
yeah yr full of shit man. they def didn't say that
You may be thinking of the craptastic Uk Decay saying that.
truth
youuu made that shit up, dork
Questo EP è meraviglioso. Lo adoro da quando ero ragazzo ❤
one of the wickedest drummers in the world ! well wicked band !!
They were a heavy band
SO fucking legend! Thanks for uploading this!
Im a friend of thee account holder but this band is not only timeless but just as Good as the 1st time I heard them over 30 years ago
The years fly by too fast but RP never get old. This ep and their other releases never grow old and keep us grounded....
First time I’ve heard it. Fucking brilliant
This fella and Kool Keith are on the SAME PAGE! Love 'em BOTH all day, EVERY DAY! LOL... NEWCRUST!!!
One of my fav punk bands of all time, bloody love em
my favorite band when I was a young punk!
chamaleon1963 and lets hope there still your favourite band now you is older.
What’s your fav punk band now? If this band didn’t exist I’d have to say Litmus Green, Dystopia or The Screamers.

the fuckin anxiety of it all. I’m in love with these fucking cuts. Sounds like a handsaw through dry bone 🦴
One of my all time favorites...
It's weird but how could I exist without rudimentary peni, seriously is it even possible?
What an EP !!!!!!! thank you for sharing.
Truly brilliant record. Icons of Filth are my fav Anarcho punk band
I bought this new at records on wheels
Portage Ave Winnipeg around '84
Ended up selling it to Warren Zee for $1
It had acquired a tragic scratch
C J Parrott i still have this one at home
Wow warren zevon liked rudi
I thought tragic scratch was Buzzcocks follow up single. Cheers
Anyone remember the Flux gig at in the Co-Op hall above Crystal Rooms studio in Portsmouth? Around ‘82. Now an ASDAs car park.
So raw this style of singing. Love the energy!!! The whole band has anazing music. Like the sounds of bass and drums were already in our head but rudimentary brought it out for us. The whole band is great. Some lyrics are a bit strange but...
This record is one of the best ever in the genre of Real Punk Rock, I cant imagine what this sounded like fo people way back in 1982! It must have knocked people's heads back!
thanks for the upload , WHY THE XXXX DID I SELL THIS 7" ? Its one fab piece of hot wax !
For drugs

I ❤ THIS ALBUM IT'S BRILLIANT. I PLAY IT ALL THE TIME FULL BLAST FROM MY HUGE JAMMO'S... I LOVE IT ❤️❤️❤️
By far one of my favorites😄
54 and stil love this band
one of their best and there were many!
I like how the singer is basically screaming as aggressively and as loudly as he can, for basically the entire record.
LMFAOOOOOOO
I was so inspired by Blinko’s art expo at Abbots Langley that I started to write and released an album named Collective Dissonance by Aggviral B3nbow.
Great f n album
best of the best
This album is always with me in my time of need. Better than Jesus!
Palabra
It's a 7" single.
Cacophony is definitely the peace of music IV ever heard... Along wi. Yes sir I will.. This changed my life.. I would probably ended up I jail if not for punk.
I got DEATH CHURCH LP first and got the double EP later back to back favorites nothing to beat ,MARTIN CHURCH IS ONE OF FAVORITES!@
Metally sounding guitar tones
Is it weird that I’m into RP because of its musicianship? The songwriting here is nuts, even in Deathchurch, I really love it. But yeah at the same time I try to passionately understand each of the message Blinko spreads to balance it out.
I think the musicianship of most of these anarcho bands of the time is insane. In comparison to something like never mind the bullocks, THIS completely blows it out of the water. Lol with all due respect
Too good. I love when punk singers sound actually scared
That's schizophrenia for you.
need more bands like this. one of one
There is a band called Slimy Member (named after a peni song) they are pretty good. Altho I wouldn't say that they are able to make something as blistering and utterly unique as peni. Peni while they were technically not very different from any other punk at the time (fast tempos, distortion, shrieked or shouted vocals, galloping baselines) they also sounded completely unique and original. Somehow they created something that still to this day sounds alien and in a class completely its own.
Love the urgency!
Beautiful
Always great first heard them 1983 to this day brings me back to the years that meant the most to all my friends and the ones how aren't hear no more love ya all , keep on believing in what we did and still do 👍❤️
Im so happy I just copped an original press of this on vinyl. This shit goes unreasonably fucking hard.
Love this band ..
I've said it once and I'll say it again... FANTASTIC SAFE BRILLIANT... I LOVE THIS ALBUM, NEVER GETS BORING, PLAY THIS LOUDLY, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE NEIGHBOURS... YEAH
How did I miss this during my misspent youth? Great to jam along to on guitar. Always liked Crass stating not to pay more than what was the marked price , this is the same.
One of the greatest punk bands ever.. Nick Blinko kicks ass, great fucken' lyrics.
