People really underestimate low ELO players. "Oh but you were able to calculate 4 moves ahead. There's no way you're 600.". My brother in Christ, just because we're low ELO doesn't mean we don't have a functioning brain.
I’ve coached a lot of low elo players. They’re all able to calculate four moves ahead and can see some of the easier lines to follow. What separates a 600 from a 1200 is how often those calculations miss hanging something obvious. I’m 1900, and in about 80% of my moves, I don’t think about what the other player will do. I don’t recommend that. I’m not saying it’s normal to do, but it shows how much people overvalue calculations. Simple positional moves and not making egregious blunders are the only skills you need to beat pretty much anyone.
Honestly that's the biggest thing holding you back imo. It's not uncommon at your ELO level. You see a threat, you recognize a threat, then something else happens and you forget the first threat. Avoid tunnel vision, keep those long term plans in mind. I think you could rise to 900 on just getting better at that. Then I think you need better opening or positional play to rise above 1000.
The way to get better about that btw: when every piece moves, ask what changes. Ask it for your own pieces too before you move them. You'll get better at it over time, and it helps avoid blunders. And the biggest difference between a 700 and a 1500 is how much you blunder. A 1500 still blunders, but not multiple pieces per game like a 700.

You want a few free tips, bro? I just crossed 1400 elo. Do as many puzzles as possible to train yourself on tactics. Lichess lets you do as many as you want for free. Lock the center when you want to attack the enemy king on the flank. Open up the center when your opponent leaves their king uncastled. Only trade when it benefits you. Trading just to trade is bad. Try to break up pawn chains. Try to maintain your own pawn chains. Bishops are better than knights in open positions. Knights are better than bishops in closed positions. Always check that the square you’re about to move to isn’t guarded by an enemy piece. This helps stop blunders if you always scan the board before you move. Move your king in the endgame. Push pawns in the endgame. Openings don’t really matter until 1000 elo or higher. 3 digit elo players play weird moves so openings don’t really account for that. Develop your knights before bishops. If you don’t know what to do, you can literally shuffle your king back and forth until your opponent gets annoyed and starts attacking. Then you’ll know what to do: defend and counter. Worst case your opponent shuffles back and forth and you get a draw. Better than a loss.
Benefitting you (from a trade) means you either put your pieces in the center or attacking the center. Additionally trading is typically good when you're up material and bad when you're down material. Especially the queen, who represents the biggest comeback threat. The other thing I'd add is don't trade pieces when it lets them take with the pawn in front of their rook. You're developing their rook for free. He's supposed to suck early game but without that shitty end pawn blocking him he's a beast.
As a fellow 700 elo this is exactly what my games look like, I don't know why everyone's accusing you of being a smurf. Do they think 3 digit elo means we are drooling sub-humans that can't string 3 thoughts together every once in a while

There's lots of components to any skill of this complexity, and they develop at different speeds and in a different order for everyone. And it's actually quite authentic that someone would start to plan ahead before they stop blundering. The former is positively reinforced while the other is punished. Positive reinforcement works better on the brain. Perhaps the 1800 person is made insecure by the fact that 600 ELOs aren't consistently miles behind them on every metric. I only discovered your channel yesterday and it's as fun as Huskey's Bronze League Heroes back in the day, with the added bonus of first-person narrative. Keep it up and good luck!
Exactly. Some people just learn in different orders, especially if they play the game very casually. When I was like 800, I had several openings memorized. I knew multiple lines and many of the longterm ideas. My tactics were godawful though, hence the low rating. If you take the game seriously, you start by improving at what you are bad at. Yeah some people don't get how deeply some low level players think. There's usually just some blunder problem preventing a 700 from sky-rocketing to 1200
I'm 1600 elo in rapid. I got curious and skimmed through a few games of other random 600 and 700 rated players (all ten minute games). I easily found games where people played 4 move combos that lead to checkmate. I also found two games where players didn't immediately take back, but added more pressure to a pinned piece or comparable scenario. So basically this commenter is accusing practically every 600 rated player of smurfing. Which is basically absurd.
bro missed mate in one in game two lol. Really cool to see you getting better at chess i myself started the year at 240 elo and now im slightly above you are currently.
Game 1 he was playing the French Defense (my favorite opening as Black). Really good in lower ELO if your opponent isn't familiar with it. The only major downside of the opening is your light squared bishop stays passive for most of the game, so a more experienced player can take advantage of it. Also, congrats on getting to 700 ELO! I can't wait to see your climb to 800
lol bro you’re just getting your first taste of people caring what you’re doing. Just ignore it, you’ll never convince people otherwise. This has been happening to humans where the tribe doesn’t believe you for thousands of years. Look up hawks vs doves evolution. And you’re just worried because our ancestors who were denied by the tribe got kicked out of the group and died. But this is the modern world all these “haters” in modern terms literally don’t matter so don’t engage. You’re killing it, love your content
Bro I'm like 1300 and every time you explain why you are going to play a blunder I'm like "Oooo he's cooking, he's a genius. I would have never seen that move but it's so good :000" and then they take your hanging piece ToT. It's rough out here ;w;
As a fellow 600 ELO player I can assure everyone that is 600s do play games that the postgame estimates the ELO at 1400 and can immediately follow that game with an estimate of 400. I think it's a mix of how much you want to concentrate and not knowing all the patterns and lines.
Mate, you should know what a French defence is. If you're an E4 player, it'd take you like 15 minutes to look up the names of the major openings. If you stay the same ELO forever - which you will, if you don't put time in - you're just going to get bored. Trust me, look up some openings!
Any chance you would/do live stream? Definitely the most entertaining chess player. Anyone that thinks it is a troll has never tried to teach a low elo adult. Their ideas have logic, and can be several moves ahead, but it's just misguided and/or miscalculated. Either that or this guy does a fantastic emulation of how lower elo players think.
A lot of people say you need at least 3 pieces for an attack. A lot of beginners make this mistake of thinking that 3 pieces against an open king is always an attack. But it isn't that black and white. If you play against competent enough opponents and sacrifice because you believe there is a way to win material or checkmate and there isn't, you will lose. If you want to do sacrifices I suggest doing unrated instead.

It looks exactly like 1650 resolution. You can change your settings to 1650 and see what I see
Something about the second game: you can usually get away with bringing your queen out to d4 early if it can’t be attacked by a Knight.
That's a lot of Elo talk, and who knows, maybe one day you'll be a GrandMaster.
5:47 red brilliant move
10:14 my brother in christ you traded 2 bishops and a pawn for 2 pawns and said "perfect"😂😭
Nah his thought process is the most relatable experience ever i don’t think he’s a smurf
I swear higher elo players be thinking we some sort of Neanderthals or somn
What people forget about low elo players is that sometimes we play brilliant chess
"he plays some kind of reverse caro khan"
the french defense 😂😂😂😂🤘
SAY IT AINT SO?? AT 3:06?? WEEZER REF??? LOVE THIS CHANNEL EVEN MORE 🔥🔥🔥 ALSO IK THIS IS A 5 MONTH OLD VID BUT I'M HAPPY TO SEE THE THICK BOARD 💯💯💯💯
Did you miss mate in one at around 8:50? With the queen like you said?
His king was under a check
Rook takes the queen
Black takes knight with bishop with check
7:30 not the silly defense (Sicilian Defense)
the goat back at it again
Don't worry, he's just salty because he's invested 10s of thousands of hours playing and has topped out at 1800.
Really can't wait for the next episode
Not the daily game review lmaoooo
Don’t forget you can also beat your opponent if his timer reaches 0 so delay him or make him think
Yeah some people don't get how deeply some low level players think. There's usually just some blunder problem preventing a 700 from sky-rocketing to 1200
As a 900-1000, this is how all chess players think, it's simply the way they act it out that causes them to lose
Its hilarious, a smurf would plainly beat him in move 3 of the opening and torture would just ensue.
bro missed mate in one in game two lol. Really cool to see you getting better at chess i myself started the year at 240 elo and now im slightly above you are currently.
The Magnus Carlsen of 700 ELO
Game 1 he was playing the French Defense (my favorite opening as Black). Really good in lower ELO if your opponent isn't familiar with it. The only major downside of the opening is your light squared bishop stays passive for most of the game, so a more experienced player can take advantage of it.
Also, congrats on getting to 700 ELO! I can't wait to see your climb to 800
I'm a 600elo player, and i can indeed confirm this guy is a fellow 600elo player
This might be my favorite chess channel
UNDERRATED CHANNEL
Yoooooooooooo I got featured in the video!!!
Lost 300 ELO reading this comment. 10/10
@@OutrightIgnite lmao
lol bro you’re just getting your first taste of people caring what you’re doing.
It’s fun watching your analysis
gained 5 elo as a 600 elo, thank yew very much, this video saved my life
bro is playing chess on stretched res 😭😭😭
I've never watched a more relatable chess RUclipsr!
how many times i completely dominate the whole game then make 1 mistake and its game over 😪
With time the mistakes get less important, like "uh oh hung a pawn" and not "uh oh hung my queen on move 4"
@@IWontBuy-RP i know hanging the queen always sucks move 4 or 34
1:00 that's called the French Defense, and 3. Bb5+ is a really bad move.
Keep up the great videos
As a 300 elo, I just missed mate in 15
You don’t look autistic and ur voice has so much aura and charisma
Look man, I watch your shit because it’s funny and insightful that’s all. I could give a fuck what ELO you are.
Bro I'm like 1300 and every time you explain why you are going to play a blunder I'm like "Oooo he's cooking, he's a genius. I would have never seen that move but it's so good :000" and then they take your hanging piece ToT. It's rough out here ;w;
Please make the board an actual square
7:46 You say "it doesn't", but it actually does. You can just take the d4 pawn with your knight, protected by the queen.
im threatening mate in one
proceeds to capture a bishop
He was in check. Therefore his only legal moves were to take the bishop or move his king.
@@chaungiddings7255sir, u are correct
It aint all piss and butterflies
As a fellow 600 ELO player I can assure everyone that is 600s do play games that the postgame estimates the ELO at 1400 and can immediately follow that game with an estimate of 400. I think it's a mix of how much you want to concentrate and not knowing all the patterns and lines.
I'm losing brain cells and brain plasticity
in second game you could still take pawn because queen would be protecting knight
Your chess makes me cringe (I'm not actually that much better), but your commentary is fun. Thanks, RUclips algorithm.
Ohh, now I get the energy behind these videos, after hearing that quiet sniffling.
❄️👃
The Snowy Slope Gambit
Lmaooo I'm glad I wasn't the only one thinking that. I was like "holy shit, this explains so much"
@@OutrightIgnite You need to patent this. Make it something like, do a line and then sac your Bishop in the first 6 moves or something lmao.
@@Taima No white girl was harmed in the making of this video
I lost a hundred elo after subbing. Don't regret it
Mate, you should know what a French defence is.
Yes sir, 700 ELO ftw 😂
I fucking love this dude. So God damn funny. I'm at 380 ELO and he would smoke me.
Another one, let's go babyy
im not exactly an adult to be telling you this and im not exactly high elo, but i am 950 elo and i can tell you, saying we will work something out from there isnt always the right way to go.
hello this is not related to the video, i just wanted to know what microphone do you use and why does it sound so good? do you use any modifications? thanks!
Well I appreciate you thinking it sounds good because I use some knock off recording software to record screen and voice 😂 But the mic itself is solid, it’s a Blue Yeti. Affordable but very good. I’ve had it for 6+ years and still doing well!
This really boosts my confidence im 550 elo and i have the same thought process as you and ppl saying your higher than 600 means that im pretty good actually
I got so happy when I saw you posted a video!! I love your videos and I'm glad the recent ones are not quite as crude and vulgar as your earliest ones. Your whole personality is hilarious.
I hope you don't feel pressure to make tons of content and get depressed like many RUclipsrs in the past. Just be authentic and be free to stop making content if you can't do it. But while you can, I will watch every single video!!
