Wow this is a real "Master class" that we have as a present from your channel. Would like to say thank you. People like me who is not able to get formal, proper and guitar college education is grateful for what you share here. I am glad I had the chance to learn english also because I can cherish this kind of videos and learn from it. So grateful guys! Thans again and over and over.
OMG! This teaches us all that you don't have to be a shameless vitiated and arrogant person to be a great and one of a kind guitar player, and you can teach also things to other people too! In peaceful kindness! God bless you Tommy! Thank you so very much for your explanation!
I woke up this morning with a whole list of things to do. Then I watched this video. Change of plans...bye bye list, I'll take care of you another day.
So here I am, a metal and progressive rock kind of guy, and yet I could watch and listen to Tommy play all day long. What he can do with a guitar is nothing short of amazing. Sure, he probably can't play as fast as John Petrucci, but man can he PLAY!
If you guys could get Alan Gogoll on here, then that would just add another level of expertise to this technique. He's absolutely insane at harp harmonics
Tommy mentioned Stevie Ray Vaughan at the end. ....he is my favorite guitar player of all. What a beast he was. And it just kept on flowing from him with no end to it. Amazing he was.
@@JulkoCarp Do not forget the main drive that is love, once you have it just keep going. Tommy Emmanuel is such heartwarming when he's on stage, not cheating in any way.
Hi folks! Maybe someone happens to have an idea what is Tommy's fifth string tuning at the beginning of the video where he shows the harmonics? It sounds half tone higher so it gets me confused. I mean why his fifth string in the 6th fret sounds like played on the 7th?
Maybe he's endorsed by a different brand and isn't supposed to be seen using other equipment. People do that at live shows, but it seems possible brands would require their artists to do the same in RUclips videos as there is even more visibility than a live show.
Yes he does. Place your fingertip inbetween 2 adjacent strings so that, in effect, you fret the two strings simultaneously. Try it with a Em chord and then a C chord where you fret the third fret of the 5th and 6th strings with your ring finger.
He seems very cool and relaxed but I get the impression he has worked very hard for a long time to reach the level of success he has....he's just a cool ass old dude.

14:25 "When i was 16 i would go ********"
Me when i was 16: *sloppy sweet child intro
good, you were doing something musical as early as 16, while he just did scale runs which arent musical. you were way better
In fact ..... you're a magician !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The use of the thumb pick seems to be what helps him achieve that clean harp sound.
Excellent playing and great advice.
Wonderful! Thanks!

Great video very informative. Thanks a lot Tommy
What a player Tommy is....Awesome

Tommy is a GREAT Player
Lets practice! A lot...
tommy has been training more hours in his life than everybody here combined.
Yes, but it also takes a great deal of talent.
@@musket-hc1fc Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
@@denisguillard1247 And when both are combined, you have such a guitarrist like Tommy emmanuel

You're a king !!!

Thank you for your talent, and thank you for mentioning Lenny Breau.

Stevie Ray meets Joe Pass!!! Wow!!! There's nothing else to add!!!
The Greatest
Nice hard work
How am I supposed to fret 5th and 6th string with 1 finger ? And I'm also playing on a classical guitar...
Great video..
This is great. Still can’t do it but great lesson.
Phil Keaggy plays like you at times. Does the Harmonics too.
Is there a locking nut on the acoustic guitar? If so how do you fine tune the strings? Or is it just a capo hanging there?
Do you liie earl klugh?
Super cool dude

beyond world class
Where can you get the tab for the “Figures x” referenced in the video?
Does the the chord at 2:30 have a b as root note? So is it still a normal e9 or is there a different name? And damn it's one hard chord
It's still an E9
Wonderful sounds! Why would he be putting tape over the brandname of the amp and speaker cab? (What brand is it anyway?)

at 2:29 playing the e9. Is he fretting both low notes with his middle finger!?
Yes he does. Place your fingertip inbetween 2 adjacent strings so that, in effect, you fret the two strings simultaneously.
Try it with a Em chord and then a C chord where you fret the third fret of the 5th and 6th strings with your ring finger.
so gud
Super lick at 12:42
Find someone who loves you like Tommy loves Chet
11:55 how did he do that, I m trying every f***ing day to do that and nothing => he´s GOD
8:02 that sounds like a queen's song
Julolo opcgdkagagabgk'hejuqt
Tommy could give Lenny Breau a run for his money!
sounds like i heard george benson doing this sort of sound, also
Ah ha I finally got it! Nope I lied
"You see how it all makes sense naow?" No. No Tommy, I don't and I never will.
You should make a paul gilbert one
Tommy seems like he hasn't worked a day in his life. Great series GW.
Conan O'Brien waiting on your tutorial lessons
He seems very cool and relaxed but I get the impression he has worked very hard for a long time to reach the level of success he has....he's just a cool ass old dude.

THIS NOISE GATE IS KILLING MY EARS
Nome agreed
Anyone know what’s that thing he has next to the nut of the guitar?
Is he only using his ring finger?
