There is lots to love here. The thing I want to work on and master is his total control of palm muting so that every note is not ringing out all the time over all the other notes that are ringing out, which is pretty much how I do it when I am screwing up. I am working on it and can mute the bass notes somewhat well, but he just has total control of it and so can turn it on and off instantly to provide dynamics.
Lewis and Clark, Harpmonics, boom-chick, Chet, I love it all....btw, one may tune down a step and capo back up to be in standard tuning yielding easier action....why not? My capo lives at the 2nd fret!
Tommy is doing 4 dates in New Zealand this September 2017 . Get your ticket before they sell out. He is playing smaller venues so you will be up close and personal.
Woah! I am revisiting this video I can follow it lot better as I have progressed little bit, melody is so lovely! I love your gentle and smooth playing, which is what I am working towards. I can't follow it with out Tabs. Lovely to listen, thanks😃
the skill here is just unbelievable. I taught myself guitar a little over two and a half years ago. Through natural skill and very hard work I'm one of the better guitarists I know. But the sheer volume of subtle techniques here to pull this song together humbles me greatly. Walking those bass notes with the thumb, the "bubbling", the palm mutes, it's just so much for an intermediate player. No amount of knowledge on modes, scales, melodies, or natural ear is going to replace hard work and practice to get these subtle hand movements down all at the same time. Thanks for producing this. I think I'll need to revisit this song in a year or two..
Open low E bass? But in the key you choose to play it in with the capo, the low open string would be F sharp or G flat in standard tuning would it not? Is he in a lower tuning? It doesn't sound so to me.
"Folks, you gotta listen to your instincts. That's why you have them". Great piece of advice!
The legendary Tommy E! ...... He talks a good a game as he plays! ....And so humble with it! ... Brilliant.
Almost all great players are humble

Tommy is a true master of guitar.

RE capo 2nd fret.
It has been written about somewhere that each key has it's own inherent character.
Thank you Tommy!
Thank you Tommy very much!!!
That is just beautiful man. Fantastic stuff.
Beautiful.
I feel the music, thank you
Thank you so much for all of this info and insight :) So happy you did these lesson videos recently
😮👏🏼🎶👍🏼😎✌🏼 what a beautiful piece
A lot of Tommy's guitars seem to have taken a battering behind the bridge, but when I watch him he doesn't go near the area. Does anyone know why?
Hardtop Harry - check him out when he plays "Mombasa". That should answer your question.
He makes the snare scatching sound with his fingers on that area
Hardtop Harry He uses sandpaper to get down to the wood, because it gives a better drum-tune when he brushes the wood with his finger.
the legendary cut lip

He explains that in the video. He knows it isn’t technically E but he thinks of it as such due to using the same shapes
What kind of capo is he using here?
There is at least one asshole who dislikes every video no matter how great it is...
Can i respawn as a Tommy Emmanuel son?!
hey
He lasts about 4 mouths with the lip cuted, what's going on?
Haha, they record all the takes in one day and upload each one month.
Luke Kerr ik, I was just kidding.
Damn no dislikes holy
Sadly one idiot - oh well :)
4 dislikes now, and they're probably in their backyard roasting marshmallows over their guitars.
hey
