One of the things I appreciate about this channel, is that despite the fact that there would be a motivation to promote jumping rope here (and selling associated products), the health advice is grounded in helping people achieve their goals outside of a sales pitch. This video is grounded advice that "technically" goes counter to selling products. And I appreciate that. What will help people lose weight is "whatever it takes to get a person moving and motivated to do SOMETHING". Jump rope is great for that, for sure. I'm now over a month in on jumping rope, and I love it, and it's why I'm here, but I'm "staying" here because Dan's message is grounded in practical advice. On July 12th, I set a goal for myself, I wanted to go from my weight of 213, which I've been stuck at for the last several years, and get down to 199 by September 16th (a date related to a trip I'm taking). It's August 29th and I'm 197lbs. I got there because I ensured I'm at a calorie deficit. Jump rope helped, but if I had done ANY regular calorie burning activity, and ate to keep me in a deficit, I would be at this goal. Jumping rope isn't magic, a certain product isn't magic, and I'm glad this channel isn't promoting guru styled bullshit. I want to be motived, and watching these videos about jumping rope motivates me, but I'm glad it's not being peddled as some magic solution. Count your calories, get moving, find some joy in it, and keep going. I set a goal of September 16th. I beat it. I'm not stopping. And channels like this help.
Walking is what led to 50 of my 60 pounds lost this past year. I agree, there is no “mental barrier” there when it comes time to doing a workout. I found it super meditative too, as I was always able to gather my thoughts while walking. It’s super good for your joints too. The one thing is, and still is to this day, my Apple Watch says I have traveled a distance of 10 miles most days between my job and walks I still take.
DAAAAAAN! and this video... just certified this channel as one of the best movementarian channels on RUclips? walking, jump rope, bodyweight exercise = the trifecta 👌🏾
Plzz keep this channel alive cause I’ve been watching you guys since early 2018…. I hope you’re doing great dan!! Love this channel ❤ And your passion towards it aswell ❤❤❤!!!
I jump rope for 15 minutes at 6am every morning. At 7.30am i walk 3km to the gym for a 30 minutes workout After 3km back Most days do 20k steps Never lost muscle Im 56
Lost 25 pounds since April and visited home and gained 5 pounds, getting back walking everyday and jumping at least two times a week! Thanks for encouraging us!❤
I think it’s cool that you’re saying this and not saying that all you need to do is jump rope. I jump rope using my beloved cross rope as often as I can and I kinda suck at it. However I’m 100% better than 4 months ago. Now however I walk a minimum of 10k steps daily. I see jump rope as a fast and intense exercise that clearly is good for you even if I can still only do the basic skip. Walking is key and I appreciate you saying this. Motivating for sure.
Me and my partner have been walking along the canal that goes as far and Leeds which is 83 miles! Of course we do not walk 83 miles but its a lovely scenic route to walk along. Our little one loves walking with us also. We leave our phones at home so we can walk and concentrate on family time. I also have been doing jump rope for 5 weeks now and i incorporate that and then go for a walk. I am trying to get my bf to do jump rope however you either like it or you do not imo, I love it ❤
Thank you for letting us know that we can burn glucose more quickly by jumping rope! Those of us who are dealing with insulin resistance, pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes can really use this type of workout. Fat loss would be a fabulous side benefit. Time to push beyond my inability to not trip or be able to get more than 3 jumps per attempt. Don’t even get me started on trying to stop the hop!
Reminds me of the old French Foreign Legion adage, "march or die." Aside from the physical benefit of walking, there is a positive psychological and venture to say a spiritual benefit as well. Things open up and slow down, finding out the map is not necessarily the territory.
I have learned a lot of tricks from Rush athletic , especially the double unders.........I do single jumps for 5 minutes in the beginning ( for warm up) and then Double unders ( almost every style of DU ) for 15 mints........sweat a lot after finishing workout 😵🤫..........Also it took me 2 years to learn every double unders trick ❤.....
I’ve recently (3 days ago) started going to sleep earlier around 9-10 and waking up between 5-530 this allows me to get a morning walk in and so far I’ve maintained all three days at 15,000 steps hoping I can keep it going with my diet and make some nice weight loss
I couldn't agree more.. in fact my results almost doubled since I've been getting my minimum steps in. I do half an hour of intense jumping 4-5 days a week and get at least 12,000 steps I watch what I eat but I'm rarely starving., been losing 1-2 lbs a week. Without walking I'm sure I'd have to restrict my calories a lot more to achieve my goals and it's just not sustainable for me.
I did walking for a month and from 102kg im now 90kg and i suddenly feel tired because i wake up at 3:40am and 10k steps a day, im now looking for motivatio to wake up and not get lazy
@@JumpRopeDudes i woke up today it 3:45 am in philippines and i saw a notification that you replied to me and i think it is a good sign! Me and my brother is going to walk 12k steps a day! And doing a 1k jump rope every evening omg thank you so much!
Why majority of the influencers are saying walking is a negative exercise. Like if we walk 30 minutes and burn few calories the next meal replaces the calories we burn. I don't understand the theory.
They are Selling protein powder and muscle building. In that approach more muscle = more calories burned. So they try to get you to lift weights (and buy their protein powder and supplements) instead of walking/running/skipping etc. Pick what you want/enjoy ❤
Everybody says that. But I lost all my muscle walking 20,000 steps a day last summer. Jump rope is the only way I can burn fat. I’ve proven this to myself.
@@MrTagoe-xw8yg I did push-ups and shoulder presses with dumbbells as always. Some pull-ups. Even light jump rope. I never stopped doing that. The family I visited in January, when I saw them in July they were like damn you lost all your body . I watched my shoulders, just narrow and narrow. It was impossible to keep the weight on.
@@JumpRopeDudes i know thanks man, I have been using your workouts for about a year now, I love jump roping so much. I will say though I started running 3-5 miles 3-4 times a week a month ago and I've been losing weight way faster. I guess I wasn't pushing hard enough on the jump roping. Also, I just love you workouts and wanna see more but dont have the $$ for subscriptions right now. Thanks for everything man

Losing weight is about consistency, not perfection...
💯
I walk an average of 20k steps daily and it really helps with the diet

I think it was Frederick the Great who said words to the effect that we are creatures of action, and that physical exercise is the cure for most ills.

I figure if 10 min jumping rope is equivalent to 30 min jogging. Than I rather jump rope for 5 min than walk for an hr.
sure, but it depends on the goal. for calorie burn its jump rope all day

Should we start a power walking league / channel?
