I think this is one of Ozzy’s most underrated songs. For me it’s my personal favorite song from the album. Randy’s playing here is so great
What moron underrated it ?
Agreed!
💯
I never understood why this song went under the radar
This album might be a top 1-20 for many.
At 52 this is still rocking!
S. A. P. O. ..Me !!!!! Salud y Vida Pa'lante !!! Cheers and Life On !!!
Wind is high, so am i❤
For my money the best hard rock song of the 80s
I always playing this song very loudly in my Porsche when I driving...
Diary of a Madman kicks ass 🔥🔥
The ozzy.
Happy birthday Ozzy
underrated album
The best there ever was.
Maybe my favorite Ozzy song (love me some Killer of Giants). Dairy of a Madman is just an amazing album, so good!
RANDY RULES!
How you know you're an old-school guitarist So you can play Randy Rhoads? Sure doesn't everyone
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Recently ive learned a bands 4 album makes or breaks a band. We know what Randy DID. What could have been??? RRR
62 years old and I'm still headbanging around my house to this song. GOOD METAL NEVER DIES!!!🤘
Unfortunately, it's on life support right now unless you're talking about some of that new metal or emo metal or goth metal or whatever the fuck they call some of that shit where they're singing all harmonically like an insecure bitch one minute and then screaming the next. All interchangeable drum parts and solos. It's as if everybody phoned in their parts and they threw it in a blender
I was in 12 grade when I went to this concert. Def leopard warmed up. I'm 58 now. Time has flown by.
keep it going you old ass headbanging sumbitch!!...{im 56...still headbanging too!!}CHEERS!!
50 here. Still Banging like my skull il on a swivel
@@GH-kt5fe Right behind you brother, 57 and still kickin'/rockin'!
I played every instrument on this track...."air guitar", "air drums", "air bass" hell even "air vocals" . lol. For a brief moment in time these four individuals created the best rock band on planet earth. Period.
Fuck yeah rock on🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
*RANDY JUDAH TORREZ* ❤️ <
😆 🤣 😂
I literally really do play and sing but you are my hero.👍🏼
🥁 🎸 🎸 🎹 🎤= *RANDY J TORREZ* Rocking it ......!!
Hell Yeah! Doing the same thing! Lmao 🤣
FUCKING AWESOME!!YOU PROBABLY DID BETTER THAN I DID!!
Fuckin ayy brother same here if you ain't grabbing something hard as fuck or getting goosebumps to this song there's a problem 🍻🍻🍻🍻
R.I.P. Randy Rhoads (1956-1982)
R.I.P. Lee Kerslake (1947-2020)
From a fifty-year-old man, this album takes me back to my early teenage years jamming to this in my bedroom dreaming of rock-and-roll greatness.... thank you Ozzy!
I´m in my 40s, and yeah, as you, I knew this masterpiece at my childhood (12s) i feel the same as you listening this jewel.
Ozzy gave me strength to grow old enough to love life and respect what I have ! Nothing comes easy ! He taught me that !
Im 19 and I just bought the album. Having a great time rocking out in my room.
16 here jamming out in my bedroom
51 had this album on 8 track.
Now I'll find peace of mind
Finally found a way of thinking
Tried the rest, found the best
Stormy day won't see me sinking
I can't conceal it like I knew I did before
I got to tell you now, the ship is ready
Waiting on the shore
Dare to look, face the test
On the eve when you set sailing
What you've learned, what you've earned
Ship of joy will stop you failing
I can't conceal it like I knew I did before
I got to tell you now, the ship is ready
Waiting on the shore
Wind is high, so am I
As the shore sinks in the distance
Dreams unfold, seek the gold
Gold that's brighter than the sunlight
Sail away, see the day
Dawning on a new horizon
Gold's in sight, shining bright
Brighter than the sun that's rising
Three thousand sails on high are straining in the wind
A raging sea below
Is this voyage coming to an end?
This master of lyrics is so underrated. Like he has said.
"Their not blind, it's just that they can't see."
@@josephgaulin112'master of lyrics' !?
The turd didn't even write his lyrics hahaha
i heard this is about Sharon Arden & Thelma Osbourne; the lyrics say it all! Love it
@@josephgaulin112 Dumbo ! He didn't even write it ! It was written by the bass player!
Ozzy didn't write any lyrics in his own band or sabbath ! Do your homework before gushing!
"master of lyrics' lol
@@julianp4787 You're a bit of a shithead aren't you? You think I'm just talking about one song?
His entire discography is ripe with intellect and insight.
Something I'm certain you have no frame of reference to.
Bob Daisley is very underrated in Ozzys solo career. Also Lee Kerslake's drumming was awesome on this album. RiP
Bob wrote all the songs with Randy and wrote all the lyrics. This album does not exist without him.
He didn't write all the lyrics......those 2 albums were "conducted" by Randy. Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge were awesome on the tour and the Tribute LP. Bob was good but stop it......
Lee..😊 in the words of Randy "now we have a drummer".
I prefer actual history. They were exceptional. But the touring American band will always be the Blizzard of Ozz for me......Tommy and Randy were GREAT together and everyone knows how awesome Rudy is onstage......
S.A.T.O. then it rolls into Diary. Holy shit. Its almost unbelievable the guitar genius on display. My favorite forever!
Holy shit exactly what I said.saw it live.they played all the tracts in the proper order. Blew my mind and had me yelling my ass off😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Sail Away To Oz!
Randy is great, but don't forget glorious bass line! 👍
R.Rhoads/B.Daisley = Ozzy's greatest composers 🤘
The bass line is SICK!
@@Spookje09 if this is a recent recording then it Robert Turillio playing bass. Sharon had them to re-record the original bass playing to avoid paying Daisley residual payments.
@@Evilize666 Point being it's Daisley's original bass lines played/heard here. Trujillo didn't change a thing in the re-recording - he simply duplicated it.
@@Evilize666 chicken shit and so many ozzy fans have no clue.
This is my all time favorite Ozzy and Randy album. I love this song. Randy's playing on S.A.T.O. is just mind blowing!
Same!
Randy went off on this one ☝️
60 years old and I still remember the first time I heard this song. Timeless metal that will rock forever!
I just turned 18 a couple days ago and this Album was one of my Birthday presents, and this was the first song I put on. This song from beginning to end is just Perfection. Thank you Ozzy and Randy.
Edit: Now I'm 20, and this song still rocks.
Timeless!!
Rock on
Congratulations. You hit the jackpot.
And give thanks to Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake too.
Right on, man! Dig it.
Randy is the GOAT
Those 1st 2 albums were far superior to anything (that I've heard) that he's done since.
Yes the first two albums were the best but Ozzy had some other great albums to No More Tears was a great album and so was the Utimate Sin and Bark at the Moon
Only album to come close since was no rest for the wicked and if you know that was Daisely work again... Undersold in the history of things, Rhandy takes all the spotlight with Ozzy and no beef but never forget Bob
@@abelmontalvo4052
Good sound production but very boring dull and soulless
I like Blizzard and diary because they remind me of ozzy era Black Sabbath in which blizzard of Oz was recorded a year after ozzy left sabbath
@@abelmontalvo4052 Blizzard, Diary and Bark At the Moon are light years ahead of anything else Ozzy did on his own. He should have called his band "White Sabbath".
I bought the first copy of the vinyl at the local record shop here, back in 81. I got a paper cross with the blizzard of oz logo on it, with the record. There was even a huge cardboard cutout of Ozzy out in front on the street. Great memories. Man, my buddies and I were crushed when Randy passed. Nobody saw that coming. And when Ozzy got back on track, when he played 2 nights at the ritz in NYC, we brought a huge WE LOVE YOU OZZY banner and he acknowledged it and said "I love you guys, too"
I nearly died when he released "Speak of the devil", knowing we were there.
Best "daze" ever.
I used to crank this album with a car stereo, car battery, speakers , in my room. ( Had a motorcycle , but no car those days)
Timeless metal , unique rhythm section , works perfectly with Randys' stellar playing
I cranked this in the car just a couple of weeks ago. This is a fantastic song.
One of the greatest tracks ever recorded, indeed.
That bass line and drumming with Randy's playing is just EPIC!!
Rudy Sarzo has already said he never played a note on this album. Bob Daisley played the bass and helped write, I believe, every song on this album but he and Lee Kerslake were never paid royalties. They sued Ozzy. Depending on which print of the album you have, Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo are given credit for the studio recording even though neither of them played one note. And if you have the 2002 remasters, they cut Lee and Bob's tracks out just so they wouldn't have to pay them future royalties. Real dick move and it didn't sound like the original. The second I played it, I knew something was wrong. Actually had a class action lawsuit because of it. However because of consumer backlash and being sued, they eventually restored the original tracks and remastered them. Not sure of the year you just don't want the 2002 copies. They are dog shit and Shannon will smoke a turd in hell if she doesn't repent. Ozzy claims he knew nothing about it
@@Cognitively_m_paired_4_Kamala the magic of daisley and kerslake cannot be replicated.
@@sjcaraga you ain't lying. Just like the original lineup of Dio. Wendy had to blow up his head and make him think he was worth more than the rest of the guys, and that they could hire any guitarists.
@@sjcaraga of every interview I've seen with former band members as well as the producers in the studio, they almost said the same thing about Dio and Ozzy's original bands. They all said the lineup they had should not have been changed. Like it was magic. The record sales and the songs say it all
(S)ail (A)cross (T)he (O)cean 🤘
I used to think it was Ships across the ocean.
Thank you, always wondered what the acronym stood for!
"Keep on smoking those joints " ! ozzy zigg needs a gig.
✊🏻🙌🏻🎶🎵🖤🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻✌🏻
Save All the Osbournes ❤❤❤
I bought this CD over one of his greatest hits, and this song is why I never regretted it. Tought me to always get the full albums because there are so many gems that didn't become hits but are still amazing songs
Favorite underrated classic from Dio's 1st album: Invisible. That tune is just sick
In my opinion Randy's best solo work is in the song.
@@litchqueenasenath5995 Evil Eyes is another great underrated classic from Dio.
Same for me, I just love this song ever since an old friend of mine played it while hanging out with him, ever since I heard it, I just bought the full album, and it's sure been worth the money...
Side 2 song 1 of most albums was always a great song...song 7 for the CD generation.....hits are hits....but masterpieces aren't always the hits
We must never let this type of music die 😤
Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake are absolute madness on this song.
A classic that I can't believe Ozzy never did live. One of my favorites from "Diary Of A Madman"..
This may be a challenging song to sing live, or even in the studio. Not much time to breathe in some places. I'll be finding out soon
R.I.P. Randy! One of the greatest musicians to walk the earth!
My fav Rhodes solo. Great motifs, call/response, structured but still wild and free. What a player.
RANDY JUDAH TORREZ ❤️ <
RANDY Rhoads you mean
Rhodes is how you spell NICK Rhodes from *DURAN DURAN* 👍🏼
...no...seriously...what do you think Eddie thought when he heard that...?
"He copies everything I do" (in my opinion their styles are totally diff)
It ruled in 1981& it rule 💯 in July 2024🤘🤘🤘🤘im still listening @ ager 57🤘🤘🤘 RIP Randy 🎸🎸🎸 & lee kerslake 🥁🥁🥁🥁
Hell yeah! You're not alone, friend... 11 years old the first time I heard Ozzy. HBO used to show rock concerts on Saturday nights (back when it was just a weekend movie service). Rocked me then... rocks today
I remember when I was 13 in 83 leaving school with a friend to go to his house to check out his drum set and he introduced me to Ozzy and played this album and I was blown the fck away! Every song is absolutely phenomenal on this album. I absolutely was hypnotized by Randy Rhoads style of playing and the lyrics and talent of Ozzy. This album is a masterpiece of rock n roll. Love u Ozzy and God bless Randy!
Fuck yea!
That solo from start to finish is clear, and as a orchestration perfect! This, arguably, in my opinion , is his best. One can hear his rapid progress in thought and technique since Blizzard. If he ever played one solo, only this, it would be his masterpiece. A metal masterpiece!
Agree 100%
True story!
Yup its my go - to spine chiller! Hairs up now everywhere listening to it. Love the Revelation solo but this is something else.
Love them all but they are like trying to choose one of my children over another. That said the soloing on Tonight has to be my favorite. The crazy bends and melody and fast parts and slow parts. It does it all and does it well.
These are SOLO spotlights which Randy had in EVERY song. RANDY THE BEST!
No other guitarist living or past away could play this song with it's guitar solos like the one and only Randy Rhoads, R.i.p
Actually ez it's like a puzzle
I know hard to believe but true
@@bobravenscraft5376 see...in YOUR mind...you think you are playing this exactly....trust me bro, you are NOT...
First heard this album when I was a teen in 81, it blew my mind then, and still kicks arse now..
Randy Rhoads was the greatest! RIP
This is best heard LOUD - crank it UP!!!
More loud is more good. The best metal songs are best played at minimum 66.6 decibels, ideally over 80.
Lee Kerslake's drumming on this one is superb.
Agreed, it’s too bad Ozzy and Sharon kicked him and Bob Daisley out of the band right after this record was finished.
It is so cool to hear some drumming that is not triggered!Love sampled/ triggered drum sounds but Lee is the real deal .
agreed! such an under rated drummer.
He was great in Uriah Heep, too!!!!
Cozy Powell was a fun addition, not as tight though
55... Randy is the reason I learned to play guitar... I was devastated when he died... But the Ozzman continued onto greatness.
Me too. Bro, I lived for a time in Leesburg, FL where Randy Died. Strange.
Saw Blizzard Of Ozz w/Randy St. Louis 1980... later smoked a joint with Jake E. Lee & later i became a radio DJ & hung/partied with Zach Wylde many times! Ozzy..... May You Forever Rock❤
Absolutely blazing guitar solo. I never understood why Randy felt his playing on this album wasn't to his satisfaction
main reason was he felt "rushed"..he didnt really have the time to really think about what he wanted to do. Scary good huh?..lol. But yeah, this was recorded in early 1981 and their US tour was starting in April of 1981. One track, LITTLE DOLLS , actually has the "guide solo" on it. He never got the chance to actually do a real solo.
but you are so right..the solo here absolutely just BLAZES! Id have loved to have seen all their faces when he was out there laying this sucker down in the studio.
@@randallrhoads3271 but on songs like you can't kill rock and roll, tonight, and diary, there are so many different types of guitars layered that they are PERFECT. How could they have possibly been done better?
this track was like a revelation as a child....became a fan with this album and then all brillant ozzy albums with jake e lee and zack wylde .....an then i discovered Black sabbath and my life changed forever! thanks ozzy and all the guitar gods he introduced me too....ozzy you are a legend and my hero, thanks!
Nov 7th 1981 release date of Diary of a Madman
This is a great early anniversary gift!!
Randy's awesomness just lights this track up with that guitar break before and after the solo. My god how good was this man.
The G.O.A.T. THE ALBUM OF ALL TIME.... THANK YOU MR OSBORNE 🙏🙏🙏
This Song Makes Me Want To Start Headbanging in a Crowded place full of Posers who wear Rock Shirts, but don't know one song.😠😠🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Perfect for a Friday morning!
Tied with Diary for my favorite song on the album.
Me too!!!!!!!!
Randy Rhoads… one of the all time greats. RIP
What a great song, I wish Ozzy did more of the Diary songs live but his voice probably could not hack it
he opened with Over the Mountain on this tour usually, and yes, he usually had a great deal of difficulty singing it. never heard this live, but can't imagine it went well.
Randy and Bob were on fire on this one
Please pray for Ozzy to stay alive a few more years.
Ozzy Is A Legend
Yes, Ozzy is!!
This is a hard fkn song to play! So is everything else this master guitarist layed down!!!
Damn this song is awesome. Actually hadn’t heard it. Thanks for posting!
I saw Randy Rhodes with Ozzy about a month before the accident (in NE Ohio)....NOBODY COMPARES...TRUST ME!!!
This album was the most influential I’ve ever heard, imagine what the next album would have sounded like if randy didn’t die and had done a third album with ozzy. randy my guitar god. I Love u randy
I still think it is the best album I ever heard, the impact on me the 1st time I heard it was friggin amazing and how many years later (please don't count them lol) I am still in love with it, S.A.T.O i think my favorite song in ever.
Underrated song one of the best tracks on this album I would of love to see them play it live mind blowing
Fantastic song🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘, love from India
This and Believer are both in my top 5 Ozzy songs. Incredible.
Yes all the randy rhoads audio/video you have please the world needs it
Randy was a gift to us from god
Randy the goat
The ending can really take you on a journey if you close your eyes..
Amazing composition
The WHOLE album was GREAT but THIS was my favorite track
Seriously this song impresses me now as much as it did in the 80'sm every detail is amazing but gee that tone on guitar and that bend man, the best ever.
Without Randy Rhoads there wouldn't have been a successful Ozzy solo career. Randy made him!!!
Great song, Ozzy and Randy are top class, and the production and sound engineering is perfect - has that late analogue/early digital sound that really suited hard rock and metal.
Makes you wonder how the hell you can create two albums in such short time.
Blizzard Of Oz, And this masterpiece. I always thought the songs were very
short, and done in a hurried fashion. But than you see Ozzy's former band with
Dio at the helm, and you understand exactly why this album was pushed. The
media did not help any with the magazines stating what band ruled. The Mob Rules
was one hellava album, but in the end, one was not going to pass up seeing Randy
Rhoads kicking out the incredible sound live at an Ozzy concert. Probably the
only other guitarist who could outplay EVH. I don't think one could copy the other's
style, or sound for that matter. That is how great they were, and worlds apart, but
with equal talent. In the end they both sold millions of record albums
One of my favourite Ozzy songs.
Kerslake is just insane on this. I don’t think he even touches the hi-hat on this tune-just the ride and crashes.
masterful call and response between the ride and crash
This is how Jesus would play
One of the best , rarely played songs off the album. Randy Rhoads just tearing it TF up, here!!! This almost like Psychedlelic Classic Heavy Metal
The only song on the album that Ozzy hates!!
When asked why, "Because I'm totally out of tune, man! I'm in the wrong key!"
Me; I Love it!!
🤘🏻
Randy just smokes in this song. Listen to what he does during the last verse - huge attitude and swagger. He plays only what is needed to acknowledge the rhythm and torquing the shit out of everything else. I like this better then Mr. Crowley.... Let the crucifying begin!
One of Ozzys and Randy's best wrks. and of course the whole crew as well.

I love, love, love this song!
It seems to me they brought the symbols down on this remaster. The 1995 remasters seem to have a lot more dynamic to them and you can hear the symbols a lot more
Sail Away to Oblivion or perhaps more simply Song About The Ocean 🤷🏿
this song is amazing! \m/
This has always been my favorite Ozzy tune! *Everyone is fuqn Wailing!* 1:55 *Randy is Outta Control! He Rules!*
Bass on this track is equal to Randy 🙌🏼
I prefer Jake E Lee but god damn if Randy wasn’t taken from us so soon imagine how he’d be today?
Rocks the hell out! Randy solo makes me feel so Fucking good! Miss him! R.ip mr Randy rhoads ( 1956-1982)
Thank you Ozzy for everything. I love other songs by other people, but no one person has so consistently and effectively affected me on so deeply personal a level. They that denounce him, that dislike the music, even display contempt; they mock themselves and display instead ignorance. They don't understand. It's not FOR them. Yet so much of what Ozzy wrote was, in a way, about those very people, to his fans.
Love him or hate him. The prince of darkness had an undeniable presence
This probably my all time favorite Ozzy song!!!
