    What's up with wanting to break horrible things down to a percentage? If 1% is 100,000 kids getting abused or sold, that's a problem. Issues that are this morally deviant have no acceptable level of tolerance.

  • @aaronadamson7463
    @aaronadamson7463 День назад +2

    Here is one thing that's being overlooked or at the very least minimized (so far in the video). Laws often inform out morality/ethics. There are many people out there without solid grounding for what is right or wrong, but look to what is legal or illegal to guide what is acceptable behavior in society. Society will begin to normalize those things and they will no longer be seen as "bad". Cannabis is a great example of this. 30 or 40 years ago a lot more people would have thought of it as a much bigger issue than they do today. It's an indicator of societal drift that it becomes more legal in the states.

    • @randal3122
      @randal3122 12 часов назад

      you are absolutely right. most people only think something is wrong if its illegal. if someone is immoral, but legal, a huge amount of our population wont even see it as immoral. so if it is legal, more people would see it as acceptable to do

    Even though it won't make it go away, I believe that p should still be illegal. Just like making drugs illegal didn't make it go away it still allows for consequences to be levied against it and those consequences will keep some people away who may not have if it were legal.

    I like how Alex claims, "Big porn companies DO care about the CP and trafficking issues" as if 1- he knows the hearts of these corporate executives who profit off of sex and degeneracy, and 2- these companies are out organizing and funding studies or investigations into stopping the CP and trafficking problem, rather than just avoiding it from popping up on their own platforms. The more likely assumption is that they care more about money than stopping CP/trafficking, and could care less about those things happening as a result of the industry behind the scenes as long as they limit the number of CP videos getting through their security
    Which is the better path- allowing men to have quick, easy, unfettered access to sexual gratification and masterbation because "well, CP and trafficking is gonna happen regardless" or regulating/limiting that access to sexual gratification because it can (and logically would) prevent or at least lower the occurrence of CP/trafficking? Even as a utilitarian or consequentialist, that has to be the better path/outcome.

    Prohibition is the PERFECT example of what banning something does for it. I know you’re Australian so you don’t have the American attitude towards the government trying to ban things and taking your rights away. Look what you people let your government do with your gun rights. And if you think banning something will make it go away or even just lessen it you’re sadly mistaken.

  • @chrisbr1969
    @chrisbr1969 День назад +4

    Almost nothing should be banned unless it violates someone’s natural rights. Just because you believe something is immoral doesn’t make it illegal. We don’t want the government determining what you can or can’t do, say, watch, etc. That’s not a function of government nor should it be.

      We ban many things in society, and even have consequences for things we don't allow in our society. Your point is just absurd. We have even gone so far, as to abolish things. So go ahead, and call it authoritarian. I guess not allowing a k(LL(ng spree is authoritarian with your logic. Healthy society shouldn't be overrun by demoralized values. That's how societies fall. It's ok to say no to an evil if it's negative affects are harmful to all humans child or adult.

    I agree with Mr. Toprightcorner. I guess your old worldview. I don't personally consume it, I think it is harmful and generally bad for society.. but I don't think it should be banned. I don't want to see any more regulatory authority go to the Fed Bois. I think the answer for that, and many other problems, is getting back to our cultural roots. Having pride in your country and being inspired to be a paragon of Western values. I believe in freedom.. but freedom without morality won't work. If my opinion changes by the end of the debate, I'll throw in an edit.

    I think that porn and sex work of all kinds needs to be made illegal. I almost think that dating apps/websites should be made illegal as well.
    My reasoning would be that its incredibly damaging to society, has no virtues to individuals engaged in it or watching it. Its the definition of giving in to temptation, which is not virtuous. One problem in society is a lack of emotional temperence, including sexual exitment and appropriate approaches to how to handle that. We are living in a base, degenerate, exploititive society, that seems to want to reduce us to our base desires and strip us of our control and autonomy and make us dependant and addicted to some of these services.
    The consequntial arguments that Alex give are so poor, as he could have sex with his sister and its a victimless crime, doesn't mean it is moral or good for the world. I also think the do no harm principal is extremely flawed and really just an excuse to do what you like to yourself. We are all nodes on a network, and every negative thing we do to ourselves, negatively effects our network.
    If I become porn addicted, that will almost certainly have a negative impact on my relationship with my mrs and possibly my 3 daughters. It could certainly change my view of women in a negative way. So why risk having such a detremental product available to young and old minds. Theres a reason that we dont give free heroin to everyone (or we shouldn't), even though it will only hurt them in the same technical way.

      I 1000% agree with you. unfortunately we can only raise awareness and help educate people so they can reach their own conclusions and become their own advocate. telling people what they can and cant do or can and cant watch will never work and will only anger people and radicalize them against us.

      That’s literally the dumbest comment I’ve ever heard. You can’t deport someone from a country where they’re a natural citizen just for cheating on their spouse. A quarter of the country would be gone for Christ sake. What country are you going to deport them to, the one where they were born and raised? You sound like some sorry excuse of a butthurt person who was cheated on, so just get over it and get on with your life.
