What a treasure. RIP Geoff
Sometimes making or watching simple things gets you right back on track
Love hearing Geoff speak. Once chatted with him for a couple hours at a trade show in Mumbai. Such a wealth of information.
Better than film school...👌thanks for sharing all this content!
RIP Geoff, thank you for this
Its simple. I see a video with Geoff Boyle. I click on it, watch it and learn something.
This man needs to narrate audiobooks. Such a good voice!
It's really swell that somebody made this film, as Geoff has a unique understanding of his era of Cinematography; besides being a real character, as if that's not part of the job! A lot of shows like this bill themselves to be "Masterclass" but this one is for real. I was fortunate enough to know him a bit, and seeing him in this context really burnishes his memory.
Boyle is great. so much wisdom. so much fun to listen to him. I crave every word. he did some great vids for cooke optics, too.
The whole session was great ! Thank you for the people who are responsible for making this happen. The end of the session when he talked about the loss of zeal in young ppl is something imp and he stood as an inspiration. It’s never late to start. Thank you Geoff. A small request, if you decide to put it on any public platform please let us see what you are able to on the live class as there were shots we missed as someone was in front of camera as such.
AMAZING Geoff Boyle !!! Love listening to you
RIP Geoff Boyle
Great knowledge sir ji
❤️❤️
Yes
Beautifully done honestly, however what are the students there for if not attentive. Thank you so much
I thoroughly agree! I could use a workshop like that
No extra light on dark skins. There you go, Mr. Hurlbut...
RIGHT
My god... This is free?
You did a great job on wallender.
Love the light on wallander.
Nice
Love Geoff! No faffing about.
the voice activating option, lol
At 47:33 looking at this chairs-case „construction” next to a bunch of c-stands with heads able to hold the frame made me scream 😂
but the knowledge is superb
Has to be the worst room in the world to teach lighting :) ..
Using f/stops for ratio setting is OK but what about using foot candles for a more accurate lighting ratio measurement w/o needing to set an ISO & shutter speed? This foot candle technique seems to have fallen out of favor....
He's a master of his craft, these are his personal techniques.
@@GhostintheBand i agree
The difference between measuring for foot candles and f stops (when your light meter is set to thirds) is imperceptible to the naked eye and redundant when something moves more than a few cm. Using f stops is significantly better because you can change the iso and the light meter will account for it. Not to mention it’s quicker to know when your key is where it needs to be and then measure the ratios to it. Foot Candles is only really useful when measuring total brightness of a light and natural light of a space when on a recce.
Voice activated option. lol lol . they didn't laugh ? lol I thought it was funny.
the workshop on lighting is very badly lit
0:16 seconds into the video is a shot of the students of the class, and one of them feeling BEING ON HIS PHONE is more important that the opportunity he has to be in the presence of this man. The young generation loves to interact with people....just not the ones they are with. They need to be somewhere far enough that an electronic communication device is needed. Someone who is in the same room? Apparently, "no thank you." This is why so many of this young generation have so little interpersonal skills.
Lol, he is making notes
Watching these scrubs raise a c-stand is funny.
Yeah, its almost like they are there to learn!
Yes, why don’t these students know everything yet? 😏 Mr. Expert… I’m sure you knew everything when you started out.
Vaguely embarrassing.
MIC the damn people if they are to ask questions.... or at least repeat the question before one answers.... JESUS!
Right!!!
And also there’s no car chase either!
