    Very inspirational words of wisdom, I like how he expresses the shadow and light being something of knowledge and something that is of the unknown and yes its very true what he says that your always a student which is always learning no matter your age, that's something my grandfather said to.

      @AlterCineYT  3 года назад +1

      Yes! That was some incredible knowledge that we have never heard anyone else say before!

      @@AlterCineYT Yes definitely, I just loved it and tried to absorb as much of it as possible. I'm not a filmmaker but have been interested in filmmaking for over 20 years since I was 19, I first wanted to become an actor but got very interested behind the scenes of movies, I just been struggling with a couple of issues since I was a teenager that has set me back from getting in the film industry.

    We often tend to forget that we are the sum of our experiences, our relationship with time is a crucial element in the making of a narrative.
    In many ways I also find it to be true for films, sometimes a movie doesn’t resonate with you until you’ve arrived to a certain point in your life.
    One great & inspiring content!
    Him talking directly to the camera is very effective!
    Thank you guys for sharing this.

    A really passionate guy. His mise en scène doesn’t really speak to me, but his light and shadow work can be fantastic. Colonel Kurtz’s lighting and color temp in Apocalypse Now is just phenomenal.

    You can clearly feel the artist and the man experience and the wisdom gain in time.
    I also find fascinating when watching a movie both layers of visual story told over the script manifesting on screen.
    Visual philosophy &/or Poetry are an integral part of the viewing experience in my opinion.
    Thank you so much for (to me) this deep meaningful video!

    Vitorio always leaves most of us with a self concious little laugh that disguises a little insecurity. But living with his idealism, his extreemism, his focused emotional intensity for a long time makes us realize that the impression is intentional, and the intent is good. He wants us all to experience life more clearly, more intentionally, and more directly, in both an abstract intelectual way, and a direct hedonistic vital way. Hedonism gets a bad name because it is often acompanied with abandonment of consequences, modesty, and or civility. But Hedonism in Storaro is fundumentally honest and self revealing. Once self revealed, he negotiates a path with the character, with the story, to a new and ususally better level. And when you listen to him, you understand that that better level is always concious. It must always be reached for, and merely assuming it will come either denies it, or if you are extreemly fortunate merely makes it a shadow of what it might have been. Reach for the light. And always know that todays' light is tomorrows darkness. Reach again for the light.

    Increíble toda la sabiduría de este hombre, la poesía y el conocimiento de la vida misma aplicada a la cinematografía de esta forma es llevar al cine a su escencia divina. Habla de grandes genios de la historia como Da Vinci y el sin duda posee esta misma conexión divina, el ojo de Dios para ver la verdadera belleza que se encuentra en todo. Maravilloso vídeo muchas gracias por compartirlo!
