  • Camper Update
    The question is to buy or build, I chose build. Building an overland pop-up truck camper or a pickup pop up as I like to call it. The plan is to have it act like a wedge camper as well as a full pop up. Not doing the vanlife or trucklife so the camper needs to be able to come on and off. It also needs come apart to store in a small space.
    More info will be here:
    campproject.com
    List of all dimensions and materials coming later with the same link
    If you need a link to anything about the build, just leave a comment and I will get it added.

    Dang, this is the best looking home build camper...BY FAR. It looks downright professionally designed and made. Also, I suspect with the proven 80/20 frame, it's amongst the best with regards to strength and durability vs weight vs the other home builds and the modular flexibility offered by building with 80/20 can't be matched. Really really nice work !

    Great to see an update. You've put so much hard work in to this really cool project. Thanks for sharing your insights. I'm getting closer to starting my own build.

    Good going. I have moved away from 80/20. The new material being 1/8” diamond plate aluminum bent, shaped and assembled with modular sections. I too am moving very slowly (-;

      Thanks for all your support throughout the build. Check out youtuber DuelEx @Dualex_Builds. Are you building yours something like he did with the diamond plate?

      Thank you. I saw DuelEx and he is terrific! I am utilizing shaped pieces of diamond plate AL for strength and modular assembly. I liked your method for its assembly/disassembly aspect…as one perfects the size and shape, it can be easily altered…. However all proof is in the pudding and i must get it completed on the Jeep Gladiator (-;

    Nice to see you back! Thank you for continuing to document your creation. Regarding the overhang…can you mount a rack (of some sort) on the roof above the driver and passenger doors to support the load? All the best! Michael

      Check out youtuber ripcord @RipcordHQ. He has a little shorty rack sherpaec.com/products/animas . I think that might be the way to go if it will fit. The camper articulates separately from the cab so there still needs to be a gap between them while driving but can attach them at night for support
