I am a huge advocate of the right hand only drill. I can make 100 in a row from about 6 feet. But the real secret is to release UNDER and not around. This is what is really teaches you to do. Most people come around or rotate the shaft. Once you start going under you are staying PERPENTICULAR to the tilted plane of the shaft. Most people do not understand that there is a difference to square to the target and square to the plane. In a proper stroke the blade is only square to the target at impact. Also. using a long putter for practice it is easy to keep the putter from rotating through. You do it with your left hand and arm. Top putting instructors teach this. In a proper stroke the putter both arcs and the blade appears to rotate relative to the target. But is is NOT rotating relative to the tilted plane it is riding on. It is staying perpendicular to it. This is easy to prove and several newer training devices are now made to reveal this. The people who make the PUTTIN ARC actually sell a clip on device for the shaft which will keep the shaft from rotating. But the blade is still rotating in your eyes relative to the target. Also remember, the shaft does NOT get longer during the stroke. It can't. SBST putting hacks do not understand this. SBST is all luck. And some days you are lucky and some days you are not.

I love what this one handed drill has done for my scoring on the golf course. I've been searching for years for a right sided feel like this. A lot of things besides release have improved. Putting one handed has taught me to feel the correct shoulder alignment at setup. Confidence with short putts is way up. I'm much better now with any putt inside 30 feet. I don't use one handed putting while playing on the course but use it a lot on the practice green. Talk about putting under pressure! Lot's of people are curious about what I'm doing, so I often end up explaining and demonstrating.

Thanks for this great tip. My one-handed putting may now be better than two-handed. I'm using my lead hand on the trail shoulder. I always like to use my proprioceptors when I can for various parts of the golf game. Applying a light pressure with the lead thumb near the trail shoulder and right chest gives me a spot to focus on when making a one -handed stroke. It is easy to repeat this feel when making a two- handed stroke and get this covering feel that you describe.

I've watched Brad's videos too. 8 wins, not 13. What I got from his videos was straight back and through, the arc does not happen until after contact. The release happens when he stops forward motion of the grip end, as I remember he concentrates on his left elbow as his left wrist goes into extention; there can not be a "release" if everything keeps moving. For a release to happen, the club head has to outrun the grip end at some point.

Great feel, will try it out when in Killeen Castle golf school. If you want to team up with another You Tuber, why not do some step-by-step putting videos with Danny (Maude) ?

Jon- I have asked numerous pros this question, and no one has figured it out. Maybe you have some thoughts. For years I have been unable to do this drill! I try often, but my right wrist yips into impact. It quivers badly. I can practice with a conventional putting grip, but I cannot do so on the course without the yips. I can’t figure out why I can’t practice putt with just my right hand since there’s no pressure. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

A reaction to the ball I guess. Often a mental issue, golfers over the years have made big changes to grip to make the action feel completely different.

Can you imagine thinking of covering the ball during your putting stroke - NNNNOOOOO
