Their facial expressions alone break me. It's so clear that Ben is in love but just can't admit it. Whether that's because of the Phil situation or his own fear of falling for someone again like Callum said, I'm not sure. Most likely a mix of the two. I'm so glad that Callum is refusing to give up on him though, it gives my little shipper heart hope.

Rheinmeister09 it's hard to know. As much as I blame Phil and believe me I do, I still think the reaction may have been the same. Callum is right that Ben is afraid to be in love even though he already is. But saying it makes it real. And Ben is afraid of losing another man he loves. Hence the whole protection thing, which was to protect him from the Mitchell grip but also from himself. We'll never know but Ben needs to be ready to say it and he will be down the road.

You don't choose who to fall in love with, like everyone knows. What actually Callum meant / wanted to say here - and it's definitely the truth - is that Ben is afraid to show he is in love, as the only thing you can choose about that matter is whether you will express your feelings or not. Callum touch Ben and confessed he is in love with him. Ben is a coward. He hurt Callum, so Callum should take his time to feel the pain, as it's something you can't avoid after that and then move on with someone else. Someone who will return back the love!

Ballum parting scene made my heart ache! If only Ben followed his heart, Callum would've embraced him in a heartbeat. And although Callum doesn't know the exact situation, he was right about Ben being scared of falling in love. Ben is trying to protect Callum, but there's also an element of fear as well.
Whatever happens, Ben won't be able to stay away from Callum for long and Callum will eventually get to the bottom of things. Here's hoping for a reunion early new year because I can't take the heart ache ! 💔

Ballum Ship I know. I think it was because Friday was so shattering, but tonight gave my hope because Callum can see right through him. Thank you. Poor Callum on the road for Christmas. I’d invite him to my house. Ben is not on my good side right now. Phil shows a little interest in him and he throws love to the wind. He’s so wanting to please his dad, but let Ben make a decision Phil doesn’t like, he’ll turn on Ben. Ben’s thrown Callum to the wind and Callum is still trying to impress Ben. Now which is the most healthy love for Ben: Callum’s love or Phil’s love?

Add the manipulative control and you get a man who’s desperate to be one of the in crowd. Phil Treated Jay more like a son than he did Ben. And that’s a hard pill for anyone to swallow.

Marcel Noonan But Ben needs to wake up to what his Dad is doing to his life. He needs to seek help/counseling/therapy on how to break free of his Dad’s hold. He can, he just has to want to bad enough. He’s been at a point where he almost killed Phil himself. He needs to have that same strong desire to escape Phil, but not the desire to kill. Callum and Stuart got away from their dad, who was in some ways, worse than Phil. I believe Callum could help Ben, but he has pushed him away. Ben needs the love Callum has to give him to possibly break free from Phil.IMO

Pink Plum Callum’s. That’s a given. Ben, doesn’t see that. He’s blinded by his desperation to seen as a Mitchell. I had the same issue. It took me years to overcome that. If had not been for my partner, I’d have never gotten past that. Since Ben is Callum’s first serious Relationship he’s never experienced the death of his boyfriend. Although he came Damn close when Hunter shot Ben a few months back.

Marcel Noonan I’m not so sure Ben is as blinded like you said as much as not wanting to see or accept what he needs to do. Ben’s been through this long enough to realize he needs to get away from Phil. He gets away but he always go back. He has to want it bad enough and like I said, Callum may be the answer. I’m trying to give character Ben some hope here. No the situation he’s in is not all his fault, but he has to realize if he wants out, he needs to accept that being a Mitchell ( in a Phil Mitchell way) is nothing to hold on to. Hopefully you weren’t in this exact situation that Ben is in because in his case, the writers of his story will keep the trouble/drama going at all cost. In real life, I would hope a Ben would be smarter and get away and stay away from a toxic Phil, but that probably won’t happen in this story. Hope you have a great life. I’m done here I don’t like to invest too much time in fictional stories.

Kylie 96 Have you ever heard the term “Batters Wives Syndrome”. All victims of Psychological/Emotional/Sexual/Physical Abuse exhibit certain behaviors. One of which is Prioritizing in a way that is odd. For Example Ben is married with Kids. Rather than put his family, Callum, first it’s his Dad. You would be frustrated “Why do women stay with an abusive husband” Because they still love that person. Ben has left before. He was gone three years prior to his coming back the last time.

@@theglowup9623 Yeah, and I get the fact that the writers need to keep the storyline interesting. And I have it said to me all the time. "...well straight couples go through the same stuff..." However, I don't think that there is equity when it comes to conflict in the lives of a couple when it comes down to STRAIGHT and GAY. We seem to have a much greater % of tragedy, at least as it is portrayed on TV soaps...drug addiction, alcohol addiction, suicide, break-ups, cheating, threesomes, open relationships. REALLY, when is the last time you saw a soap with a straight couple in an open relationship or a threesome? Or one of the straight couples committing suicide because of the rejection of family or religion? To the writers of these soaps, being a gay couple seems to be ALL about CONFLICT, INSECURITY, and SEX. Yet more LGBTQ people are getting married and having kids (the traditional thing) than ever.

Let's look on the bright side. Ben and Callum splitting up postpones their inevitable marriage and inevitable divorce six months later. This way we get to string out the agonized longing we think Ben is feeling, the anticipation for reconciliation, the bliss of their eventual reunion etc. Who knows, we might get 18 months out of this Ballum malarkey if it is not too rushed.
