Ok First of all Before you put a video with wrong info, Tell me if im wrong anyone, 3 Security Checkpoints 1. There is a security check up when you enter the airport from out side. 2. Another Baggage check up just before get to the check-in area (That's where they put the "security Checked sticker") 3. Each and every single gate has an individual security checks. (That's where you have to remove shoes, Belts etc) When you are in an airport, just look around for a sign or notice board for restaurants or ask any airport staff. After you cleared the immi stuff you entering to the gates, Shops and Restaurant area. 1st floor has few gates and rest of the gates are upstairs. (Again Open your eyes and look around or ask from a staff) I'm from Australia and I've visited sri lankan airport more than 10 times last 10 years time. you can pay with any currency you want for the shops and restaurants. (I have paid with LKR many times) They priced with US$ because any passenger can understand the price easy because its kind of a common currency. So, again Open your eyes or ask from staff before you make a video and post. Thank you.
U guys have choosen the hardest way to get to the airport. You just could have get a n AC bus to the airport from Colombo just around 250LKR. it uses highway and its just around 40min ride.
M Viv you are checked three times before u go to check in two metal detectors and one scanner. And then before ur flight ur carry on is specifically checked with metal detectors and scanners. We good!

You Still Need To Remove Your Belt And Footwear For Screening Before Entering The Boarding Room. Now You Only Have Your Luggage X-RayBefore Checking In Counters. You Do Not Need Have Luggage Go Through X-Ray Machine Before Entering The Departure Hall.

On the opposite side of Colombo railway station, you will find busses (A/C) which will cost less than Rs.150/- (LKR )each, get to the airport via highway, travel time less than 40min
Such cheap traveling... each country has its pluses and minuses... there is no LRT system yet as we went through war for 30 years. We take a taxi which will cost you about 15 dollars or less. Why did u do 2 dollar train ride... phew

I used to sleep like that on planes too. And if the plane was packed, i used to spread myself across the lap of my mom, dad and brother and sleep. Back then, i just weighed 16.

Tourism is an industry in Sri Lanka and it is not a charity service.You need five star luxury at backpacker rates. I know you will be really happy to enjoy a club sandwich and a cappuccino at Rs100 at the airport. Expect the same at other destinations as well. May be an overnight stay at Burj Al Arab in the presidential suite for Rs2500.🙈 Be realistic dude.Learn to see the positivity. Even we natives have to pay in dollars at some shops in Sri Lanka.

I flew through Kuala Lumpur twice last month and the security at every gate was interesting. It did seem like a very expensive way to do it. They did get you through the line fast which was good since it did not open until boarding time however the pat downs and bag checks were not up to US standards. One other strange thing, Malaysia Airlines sprayed a mosquito killer through out the cabin shortly before landing on all four flights I took with them.

You could’ve taken the expressway bus direct to the airport - it’s always on time and with air conditioning and space , the train is often slow , crowded and always delayed .

For the record, most locals get a direct bus to the airport or a taxi (USD 10 from central Colombo to the airport). Definitely NOT a train. Who told you guys to get a train? 😝

Security check at each gate is also in Changi airport, Singapore. That's one of the largest airports in the world.

Ok First of all
There is 3 Security Checkpoints
1. There is a security check up when you enter the airport from out side.
2. Another Baggage check up just before get to the check-in area (That's where they put the "security Checked sticker")
3. Each and every single gate has an individual security checks. (That's where you have to remove shoes, Belts etc)
When you are in an airport, just look around for a sign or notice board for restaurants or ask any airport staff.
After you cleared the immi stuff you entering to the gates, Shops and Restaurant area. 1st floor has few gates and rest of the gates are upstairs. (Again Open your eyes and look around or ask from a staff)
I'm from Australia and I've visited sri lankan airport more than 10 times last 10 years time. you can pay with any currency you want for the shops and restaurants. (I have paid with LKR many times) They priced with US$ because any passenger can understand the price easy because its kind of a common currency.
