If you had to chose: Wise ADX GMT or this Strat-O-Timer. I placed an order for the Wise (green varian) after watching your video. Looking forward to it!
Thanks for reviewing this Strat-O-Timer. It brings me a little closer to pulling the trigger as I’m a Jack Mason fan with 3 already. Still kicking myself a bit for not grabbing their limited release Dr. Pepper. 😊
I like the looks, the bracelet seems fantastic and I love the miyota 9075. It's definitely pricey but way better than any Seiko in the same price range. I wonder how's their customer service.
To your point, Peter, I also think that WISE has a clearer brand design footprint as well. Their brand design is a differentiator for me compared to a brand like Jake Mason (or another U.S. brand like Vaer). Thanks for another great video!
I love this color combination (white dial with black hands, indicies, and bezel). The price is high, but the hardness coating is a real plus. Seems like an awesome watch, overall. But I agree, as an owner of a WISE (the AD7), it's really hard to compete with their price-to-value. I prefer this case shape and color over any of the WISE ADXs. If you weren't going for this particular look/color, the WISE is definitely the better value, and you can customize the color of the GMT hand on the WISE (which is awesome).
Peter I just bought the Bulova Devil Diver GMT in rose gold for a very good price of equivalent $588 USD. It uses the Miyota 9075. Very happy with it!👍🏻😎 The pricing in general of Jack Mason has stopped me in the past from buying.
I grabbed their recent USA Limited-edition release. I also have their Dr Pepper and Candy Corn and couldn't be happier with all three of these watches. 🎉😊
Thanks for the great review. And it’s a terrific watch, but every time I see it, I think about the Wise. Now I know it’s probably cheaper overall to make something in Thailand versus here in the U.S. but it is a fairly substantial price difference. Thanks again!
Thank you for another great video. Great point for extra removable links, thanks for speaking out for the smaller wrist guys. I hope they listen to your advice, and I can't wait for your next video. Cheers!
Great upload but I have to really challenge you on the pricing comment. I think this is the best value GMT on the market, I said as much in my review. Wise is based in Thailand, their overheads are significantly less than a company trading out of the US. I have been to the Jack Mason offices in Dallas, they are based there. They carryout the QC assembly and regulation in the US, that has a cost. If anything I think they could charge more for these, evidenced by the fact that they sell out so quick. I have reviewed both Wise and JM on my channel. Wise make a great watch but in hand they are not the same. The fit finish and wearability of the stratotimer is excellent. JM's 7 link bracelet (not the one in the review) is one of the best non-rolex/tudor jubalees I have ever handled. They are not a Microbrand either, they never have been, just to address some of the other commenters here. Maybe we could debate on a livetsream if you don't agree Peter or just come on the Sunday show for a chat?
Hi Sam, Not saying the JM is a bad watch, in fact I really like it as you saw in the video. I just feel the end user, the consumer looks closely at things like price carefully...do they care whether it's made in US or Thailand or Swiss or Japan?..most who are buying at this pricepoint are concerned about the back pocket and value I like you hear what the general public and viewers are saying and they seem to agree on costing brother Nonetheless, as for the bracelet, personally I really like this three link they sent down with this watch..superb in so many ways Thanks for the offer for Sunday, I will try to join in if I can 👍👍 Cheers
It's a great watch design, I find the design very pleasing, they've got the proportions spot on including the crown. The specs are great as well. The scratch resistant coating is a great feature. I wonder why only Seiko and a couple of microbrands use it by the way But I agree with you on the pricing. The price they're asking is a bit deterrent.
It's a nice watch. I'm not a GMT guy really, but I like the look of it overall. They're releasing a new version in DLC coating and I'm tempted to try that out.
I love the addition of the fun colors, but they need to do more. They say they want to move away from being a fashion brand and be more of a serious watchmaker. This is a great step, and so is the Ellum, but they need to do more. They need more legit, winning references and they need them yesterday. The micro space is moving quickly and they're going to get left behind if they don't get it in gear.
I was recently looking to buy a traveller gmt and one of the options I looked at was the Jack Mason. In the end I purchased the Henry Archer Verden gmt on pre-order. I know they are very different as the the Verden does mot have a gmt bezel and is more dressy but it has great specs, the same movement and was £549 with the 10% discount that they offered new customers. So I agree with you that the price could be a bit lower on the Jack Mason.
The Wise would get my vote, and my money, if I was looking. I never was on board with the hype for this one, and pricing is baffling for what is on offer. For significantly less money, my Mido Ocean Star GMT is the one I chose, 80h PR, and another true GMT option. Great review as always. 👍
@@DrDjDD You can get a Mido Oceanstar GMT in black/orange on a bracelet for $900 , and $880 for a blue/black on a strap on Jomashop pretty much any day of the week.
@PeterKotsa On my first gen Strat-O-Timer, the lume was good enough, but the hands were too narrow not allowing enough lume but I could still read all night. The hands should be brighter than the indices. Still it's a fantastic watch.
That’s a fun looking watch, it’s definitely been added to my list of potential GMTs to buy. I’d like to ask: Between the Wise ADX110 and this Strat-o-timer; what would you choose? Thanks Mr. Kotsa, have a nice one. Cheers!
Both are very good in their own right I suppose if it came down to price, I’d pick the Wise as both watches offer the same benefits The only advantage the Jm has is the hardness coating (which in real world scenarios might prove to be quite handy) Is it worth the extra $$? That’s the question 👍
It is a very nice looking watch. However, it's not the price of the Strato-Timer that will have me leaning towards the Wise Adamascus GMT. It's the Wise GMT itself. If the Strato-Timer were the same price, I would pick it, because I do like that bracelet. Enjoyed the review
Move the star to 12 and enlarge and lume it. Put strato timer to the northern hemisphere. There is no differentiation of the cardinal marker currently. Just my thoughts
It’s great to see your face on these videos bro 😊 The watch, unfortunately for me it’s a mehhh, it’s expensive and somewhat generic looking. But hey horses for courses I’m sure they’ll sell a bunch anyway. Thanks for sharing my friend 🙏🏻👍
This a general question and not a criticism of this particular watch. On a GMT, why have a rotating bezel? I have a CW C63 GMT with a fixed bezel, so what am i missing out on?
You can track a 3rd time zone with a rotating bezel. If you don’t need or want that functionality, a fixed bezel is perfectly fine. It’s more of a function for someone like an airline pilot that may want to set the local hour hand to their current location, have the GMT hand set to Zulu time as the default and use the rotating bezel to track something like their home time when away.
and 200m .... Although most diver's don't get in the deep stuff at least they sell on potential, 100-150m at a lower cost and or thinner seems a better choice for a GMT.
I really like this watch but that price is just too high with all the similar spec micros that are available always appreciate and enjoy your professional content my friend Be well and God Bless 👍
While I love the fact that this is Texas brand ( I am a Texan), they are charging way too much for a standard GMT made in Asia. Wise Adamascus is currently at $720 and offers similar features for half the price.
Looks nice, but i agree with the price point for a watch most likely made in Chine with a Japanese movement. I prefer the Traska Venturere GMT, which just seems more original. At this price point, you can start looking a Cristopher Ward watches....
No doubt a very nice watch, Pete. However, I think I like the WISE Adamascus ADX130 True GMT (120 / 130 / 140 depending on color) better, and it also comes at a much better price 😉
Saw it in person this past weekend at Intersect LA. It's...fine. Nothing drives it over the huge wall of divers in this price range. And, personally, not a fan of all that polishing, but just one man's 2 cents on that.
I don’t see the value proposition in purchasing this watch at its retail price. Too much competition I’m afraid from similar and big brands and doesn’t stand out.
Sorry but looks like a Seiko to me. Not spending the serious bucks for a fashion watch with no heritage like a Hamilton or even a lowly Seiko. Half the price and maybe maybe I take a second look
Once you pull the trigger you have to remember if you don't like it the value of it will be the half in a matter of week, and you'd be lucky to get 30% if you put on internet. Just too many watches and brands nobody wants to have it. If you like like it go for it, I've no objections.
Looks nice, but the branding kills it for me. I'm not going to pay to wear someone elses name on my wrist. They didnt fall into the christopher ward trap and put it on the dial, but on the clasp isn't much better.
Personally I have no issues with someones name on a watch For example Moritz Grossmann or Louis-François CARTIER or Antoni Patek and Adrien Philippe….(Patek Philippe)
These watches are stunning - that they are assembled in the USA is a major plus - a definite addition to my collection!
If you had to chose: Wise ADX GMT or this Strat-O-Timer. I placed an order for the Wise (green varian) after watching your video. Looking forward to it!
