There was one moment during 2003 when I probably could’ve bought this synthesizer for a comparatively low price when one was on the floor of my favorite retailer. What stopped me? Aside from not having that many pennies to spend, everybody I knew was trying to talk me out of getting too much gear. It’s as though they all knew gear acquisition syndrome was a real thing for me.
Beautiful sounds! JD-800 is a monster. It sounds so good and refreshingly digital today when analog sound is the thing. I love playing my JD thru a Strymon Big Sky.
I had this synth in the '90s. Created a fairly realistic sounding strings patch on it (with 3 oscillators) which I used it extensively for a library music album. I regret that I sold it.
I have no idea, as I don't know the memory structure and the import options of the JD990. The soundpack "DAWN" is available as *.syx for the JD-800 synth and *.bin for the JD-800 VST plugin.
