Little historic trivia: There's a bit gloomy reason why Rovaniemi doesn't have any buildings older than 75 years. In the WW2 the German troops burnt Rovaniemi down completely, luckily the people were evacuated.
as a Finn this made me smile, its July and its the warmest time of the year and you guys look like you are going to swim in subzero temperatures and icy water x)
Whoooaa!!! My skin busts out in hives in cold water/air so this would be sooo perfect for me! Thanks for sharing! I'm falling in love with your Nordic Summer series and one day want to do a mini one :)
Geographers pet peeve: When people say that the scandinavian mainland is the arctic :D What a cool experience floating in that lake! But the best is always sitting at the fire in the bright subarctic summer nights, love it! Looking foreward to more!!
@@WAYAWAYWithAsh I think it is just a marketing thing, tons of places call themselfes "arctic something" in that region, technically the arctic beginns where the 10°C isotherme is in summer, and that is only the case in maybe the last 10 northermost km of scandinavia. But I should probably stop nerding out :D
Oh boy, how many memories this brings back. As I've mentioned in other posts, I lived there for 7 years. I've been to that Angry Birds park as well, which is actually very near to your hotel (on Valtakatu if I recall correctly), And how many times I have walked along that river as well. You guys sure had a blast at the lake, lol! Looking forward to the next episode(s), which sure must include the Santa Village! And hopefully also that hiking area I also mentioned once. We will wait in agony to find out :)
@@WAYAWAYWithAsh Indeed it was. As you've seen for yourself, the nature is absolutely breathtaking. As a kid or even teenager, I never would have imagined that I would be living there. Nor did I imagine I would now be living in Odessa, Ukraine, which is a gorgeous city by the Black Sea. But very different from Rovaniemi. Though for such a big city (some 1 million inhabitants), it is very green! Maybe some day you will come all the way here ;)
I have always wanted to travel to the States but I must say that Finnish summer is beautiful. Especially in Northern parts, where I'm at. Just beautiful midnight :)
Hey! Welcome to Rovaniemi! Have you tasted sauteed reindeer yet? If you havent and want to try it I could cook it for you and could warm up wooden sauna for you guys to enjoy aswell. I live opposite side of the river at the start. Anyways love your videos and your positive attidute!
The polar bear in the bathroom is awesome! And we literally pissed ourselves when ashley transformed into that sexy drysuit.. actually that whole lake segment was hilarious! Nice vlog guys.. looking forward to seeing you soon
Another awesome video 😊👍, but a question why are the live stream videos unavailable to watch anymore. I have missed the last 2 due to the time difference and I used to be able to watch them but now cannot as they are gone 😢
Did you stay there until 01:00 oclock? Because that's the darkest hour, now that the clocks are in the summer time. Without that change, the midnight would be in 24:00/0:00.
@@WAYAWAYWithAsh Yeah - but in summertime: isn't it June in these videos? May would be the same in the clock - but not for you in the water :) So the same applies for the darkest hour - it's 01:00.
"Don't fart before going in" LOL LOL Did Ash really say that ! You guys kinda reminded me of the Teletubbies. I mean that in the most endearing sense :) The midnight sunshine is so wild! Chills alert @8:50...brilliant stuff...music spot on. Hitting on all the right notes, once again. So enjoying Finland Way Away style :) (never slept in a water I don't think)
That swimming clothes remind me old kids program name is "Teletubbies" 😜 i dont know if you guys remember this but is looks same ❤ love it 👍🏻👌🏻 much love keep safe ❤❤
love your outfit Ashley! not crazy about the living area though. you look like you are ready to walk the moon in those suits! This is hysterical!!! HOW on earth did you film this???? Love the shot of Ashley floating from above!!! This was a most enjoyable watch!!! Laughed a lot!!! Lovely photography!!! 1,498th view, 209th like and 45 comment😃 Halo Josh and Ashley!! Such a fun video! I am curious as to what temp the lake water is you were floating in. With Europe in a heat wave you guys certainly made the right decision as to spend summer. The music for the lake was so soothing. Looking forward to more adventures!! ❤️ From central Illinois.
Please do not advertise airbnb on Rovaniemi. Airbnb in Rovaniemi is getting huge, and residents are getting kicked out of the apartments, since owners want to turn their apartments into airbnb for more money. The rent prices are getting higher constantly and students and locals cannot soon afford to live here.
That looks like such a cool experience! I always wonder if I would enjoy just floating around or if I would be bored. Pretty sure my head sinks a bit lower like Ashley's and noticed that Josh's head floated a bit higher. The experience itself seems like something to do, if only for a little bit! What was the air and water temp while you were doing this?
I truly just enjoyed floating! The air was maybe 60* F and the water was a bit colder, but the suit insulated it very well. Only after 30-40 minutes did we begin feeling the cold.
Haha, yes they sleep. Good blinds helps a lot. But anecdotally we heard that many people get less sleep overall because they are just up enjoying the sun.
Ashley in a dry suit that looked about three sizes too big for her made me laugh (sorry Ashley). I think my body clock would be completely screwed up if I lived where the sun doesn't really set, but I'm enjoying the Finland videos.
Protect your precious SKIN! Use a sunscreen (especially when there is 24 hours of sunlight). And check out skjncares.com for more!
When you go to Norway, visit Neseblod and Fantoft 😎

Haha. TBF it was really cozy in those suits!
Wow Ashley's positivity is just infectious, she's so full of life and joy. Josh you are one lucky man.
Wow! That looked like such a fun, while also relaxing, experience! I couldn’t stop grinning!
That looks so relaxing, I like it. The drone shot going up with only Ashley in the water is awesome.
🤗 it was like a big water hug! Or like being in an isolation chamber.
Your drone shots in this video, Josh! Like Wooow! Also, those shots of the fire, smoke and the tea, that's Chef's Table all over.
I'm visiting in Summer can't wait.

I laughed when you laughed in the water. That drone shot was very cool! By the way, I was impressed how well Josh pronounced Rovaniemi.
That looks incredible. Your drone footage was awesome!
The swim in the lake looked absolutely wonderful. Also the nice hot tea afterwards.
Haha! That looks so much fun! I bet that place looks completely different and just-as/more beautiful in the winter. Loved this vlog :)
That foot tap...warmed my cold cold heart💚
You guys rock those suits! Floating jelly babies! Loved the drone footage too x
Thanks Selina!
Wow! Just absolutely gorgeous there. So tranquil.
8:51 onwards - potential shot of the year territory.
That fire/tea montage is amazing. The editing is so on point.
this is amazing !
Was covered in Ice and Snow when I was there. I Love Suomi!
Oh wow that sounds lovely!
@@WAYAWAYWithAsh we spent two months in Finland, obviously during winter. We had snow the whole time there.
I smiled during this video so much that it made my jaw hurt. lol! What a beautiful, fun video and unique experience.
That drone footage was epic! 👀
To pronounce the word "oulu" as we finns do you must pronounce the first syllable like the english word "oh".

Others consider the Arctic to be where the tree line ends so 🤷♀️
This looks sooooo fun! The hotel looks really nice and cozy. I want to swim in those suits!
Aw what a cool video, you guys were having a blast like a bunch of kids! :D What a cool way to enjoy a lake.
How cool! Bright sun 🌞 at 1:30 in the morning!

The water suits look super cool to be in, and you guys looked like orange fluffy penguins. Such a fun video! :)

Wow. Would love to do that!!

Oh hay girl hay. The water was around mid 50s if I recall
Wow! Amazing Aerial shot of Ashely. And no night time?!
Well it's vice versa in the winter. In the middle of the winter the sun doesn't come up at all :D
I would love to hear about your cell phone use in regards to data and cost while traveling. Love ya.
Jep, Angry Birds is Finnish, made by Rovio which means pyre, or big fire.

Cool.. literally?
Rovaniemi is also called "Rollo", because Finns can't be bothered to pronounce all those long names all the time.
Oh and how u doing?
I quess floating and farting on a lake beats flipping a rally car at 200km/h mr.Brown? 😁 Aahhahaa! I'm just f:n with ya 😋 You do you girl! 😝
IDK I would have liked to get it sideways.
