As a local, we never buy anything at the fish market! It’s way pricey! But the grosery store across the street from the tourist information (REMA 1000) you get super fresh seafood for the third of the price!
Mom’s hometown. She says it was a great place to grow up, but the years 1940-1945 were kind of rough. She lived at the last stop before the top of Fløibanen, Skansemyren.
Our trip this summer started in beautiful Bergen. We spent $40 in Daugavpils, Latvia for the same or more food in Bergen that cost us $100. So happy for you that you didn't get much rain while at Europe's rainiest city.
Hope you are wide awake on the next train ride on the Bergen rail! I sat gazing out the windows and taking photos for like five hours straight when we took the trip some weeks ago. Absolutely stunning to watch the landscape shift during the trip. I recommend a detour to Flåm, even though there is a lot (really: a lot) of tourists there. Breathtaking place. Love your videos! Excited to see what you are up to next.
The two door concept is not for safety. You will find this in many Norwegian homes, and it's for protection against weather. When there's lots of snow, freezing temperature and really windy outside you can open the outer door and not chill down the entire house (and not get snow in the rest of the house).

Bergen looks wonderful in the summer months. I have only ever visited in the winter months, which is equally beautiful. I really like that fish market, and I wouldn't be surprised if thats whale meat at 8:08. Also, I love how Bergensers speak English. Excellent diction and amazing pronounciation, possibly my favourite English pronounication in the world.

FYI Bergen is not between 7 mountains. The city Center is. It was called the city between the 7 mountains in the 1700s by Ludwig Holberg. A lot has changed since then...Today the city center is probably like 10% of the total city. Most of it is outside of the mountains. Actually Bergen is larger than Oslo in size
