On this episode I continue with the ongoing restoration of this 1979 Kenworth W900A truck to turn it into a tribute movie truck to the one used in the 1977 classic movie Smokey and the Bandit with Burt Reynolds, Jerry Reed and Jackie Gleason. If you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for??? “We’ve come this far ain’t we … when we say we’re gonna do a job do we do a job??”
On this episode I picked up my new old tanks all polished up from Spectrum in Edmonton. Stephen and the team did an amazing job transforming a rotten old tank into something that looks almost like new. Once home, I tackled replacing the old ratty feed and return fuel lines getting new ones made up at Greenline. Then in my typical ADD fashion, I started looking at the air system I’ve been upgrading over the winter and tried to see if it would hold air. Unfortunately, it took some doing to get it to work but I eventually got there.since last winter. Finally I got dow to installing the tanks with a little surprise from a local machine shop (see link below) Thanks again Dawn!
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for all the comments, suggestions, and support!
Keep in mind, I know a little about a lot but not an expert in anything … just doing the best I can,
learning as I go ... I do all my own stunts

How I love me some twin sticks on a Thursday morning!
Absolutely brother 🇨🇦🇺🇸✝️ Amen and SALUTE
It's great to see the support coming from so many of your fans - there really are some good spirited people out there. The Snowman project is really coming along - you'll be heading out to pick up 400 cases of Coors before you know it!
Coffee and Twin Sticks, cant get much better than that!!!
Amazing how nice those tanks came out! Entire project is coming along nicely!
Marc, i have said it before, you have a great fan base who appreciates what you do for us. Those straps are excellent.
They did a nice job polishing up those old tanks. Those straps came out really nice as well
Your always blowing the fans minds by restoring these big trucks by yourself! Everything is looking amazing just the way she sits can’t wait to see the overall finish!
Oh my how things have changed, I remember going back to the Pete you didn't know a thing about the air brake system and now here you are diagnosing an air system. Great progress on both the trucks and you.
Hey Mark this is a little off topic but after watching the Jerry Reed spot I remembered that Elvis Presley recorded a song written by Jerry Reed (guitar man) in fact Elvis wasn't happy with the song until he got Jerry to play the guitar part, so if ya ever listen to guitar man by Elvis that's Jerry playing.
The song "Guitar Man" is about my hometown of Mobile Alabama. The bar that Jerry & Elvis sing about..."Big Jack's" was a real bar/night club/restaurant on the Mobile Bay Causeway that I remember well. It was still there until Hurricane Frederick came thru in 1979 & pretty much destroyed everything on the Causeway.
Jerry Reed would come back occasionally & played there before it was destroyed...it was always a packed house when he came.
Much love from Mobile Alabama.
Mark those look amazing!!!👍👍👍
i've noticed an interesting thing about restoration projects. its like "stone soup." when people see what your doing, they bring you all kinds of stuff to help out and be a little part of it:) Even if you don't know them!
yeah, exactly... it's human nature. We all wanna be part of a herd. It's a natural thing, still surviving the whole internet-age. You can't reprogram 100.000 years of community. lol, love it.
Best trucking related content on you tube, thank you for all you do.
The tanks turned out so good. This build is so sweet.
I've been subscribed to your channel from the start and out of all the others I'm still excited about a new video from you. Not only are you good at restoring these old trucks you're pretty awesome at running a RUclips channel.
I can't wait to see project snowman all done
very well done service, congratulations...
Those tanks came out great! Man having three projects on the go can swamp a guy, keep your head up twinsticks your doing a bang up job.
I worked in a machine fabrication shops for over 30+ years and I’ve tried to tell many people that if they need something and can’t find it or it cost to much to find a shop cause most of them are more then willing to help if they can
Enjoying the build.................... 👍👍👍
I said this before and will again, never doubt the TwinSticks Garage fans for digging in their horde or trying to figure out a way to help contribute to the projects, seems everyone wants to help how they can and where they can to see these projects get to the finish line, have to love it.
The tanks look awesome the guy did a great job polishing them , they look pretty spanky and the straps that shop fabbed up for you, those things look like they are from the factory, I doubt anyone would notice they weren't and I have no doubt even with getting some fabbed up, you save a heck of a lot of money that buying them at the dealer, sometimes it goes like that and when your doing restorations or rebuilds every dollar you can save is always a good thing cause guaranteed it will get used elsewhere
Hey nothing like simply fixes when it comes to air leaks, I like those, its the ones where you have to start tearing things apart and replacing parts and that seeming never end that fill the old swear jar up fast...lol
She's coming along pretty good , just think when the cold really hits, you can roll into the shop and have a nice warm place to work and no freezing cold metal and no snow to lay in, sure the Jack Daniels sales at the local liquor outlet may go down this winter, but hey you can still have a hot jack in memory of working out the cold...in the old days...
Keep up the good work and look forward to the next update... and of course the official shop move in video
Snowman is coming along nicely keep up the good work 👍🏽
Still amazes me the amount of time and effort you put into these projects ... I'm usually beat tired after just watching the videos !!! Looking SHARP !!!
I simply love the sound track on your videos (Jerry and Chet). And i also like seeing you work. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful videos I would love to stay in Canada I am from South Africa
Here I was getting mad at watching the news this morning and spilt my coffee and wasn't have a great morning when this pop up thanks for making this a lot better morning great video
Boa noite,tô acompanhando a reforma show
Looking good and as always loving the attention to the details.
I agree Simon
I think you're just confident in knowing what you're doing! Great job!!
Maybe a little too confident 😂
awsome video mark it amazes me that you can make old rusty tank look good and shiney like that again really awsome thumbs up and shared
I really love that truck. All those gauges and switches are so cool! Such an icon of the era.
So many trucks so Little time great video's
i love watching your truck projects! beside all the huge amount of money you put it's amazing to see all the tips and tricks you use with your knowledge on trucks for making it work properly and safely. i hope to start some truck projects here in Europe too, but prices are just prohibitive... i mean, for me 😂
Mark FYI you can fill your fuel filter with ATF instead of fuel. Works good and easier to carry a quart of ATF for on the road filter changes in the cubby than some fuel
Use an old glass coke bottle to pour fuel in that prime hole works great 👍👍👍
Good morning Mark, Those tanks really look good I'm really impressed with your work on Snowman that truck looks amazing can't wait to see the finished product. Sorry it took so long to watch your video this time it's a busy time of year for us tailgate slappers. See you on the next one
OK, old field guy tip. When you go to prime a Cummins, take a fuel cap and add a air chuck to the cap with a valve, plug the main draw tank vent and close the cross over line valves, apply about 20 p.s.i of air pressure to that tank and go crack the lines open and let the fuel flow till you burped the baby. That's what we did on out of fuel calls on the hwy when a truck didn't have a priming pump. This way you get all the air out of the lines completely right to the injector pump. Hope that helps.. Cheers Mark & Stay Safe!
I envy you. Thanks for posting. I grew in a trucking family. Third generation. I drove for 16 years. This would be on any real truckers bucket list.
Top.
Parabéns pelo trabalho
YA know as I watch with eager eyes and ears I am slowly learning what you have learned. Setting up a fuel line. Hey I have driven many a mile in a truck but to fix problems, well, that just was not me. Now after watching many of your vids I am learning to do all sorts of things. You are a great teacher and the joy you get from doing these trucks shine big time in every vid. It's like watching a kid in a candy store with money to burn in your pocket. I must thank you big time for taking the time to show us and bring us along on your ventures. Yup the ordinary guy can rise to the top as you have. Top of the morning to ya Twin Sticks.
When I worked road service, we always filled the filters first. We never had issues. We had many calls due to new starts. We believed that many of the company drivers would starve the filters because they would have down time and be paid hourly. Many times we were asked to investigate because there were drivers who would milk this system.
i would love to see you finish this truck 🥰 i can't wait, take your time it looks like a lot of work..
Great progress, Twin Sticks
Snow man is looking great
Awesome progress on the Snowman Mark! Regardless of the wear on the tanks, they did an amazing job bringing them back to mirrors. Thanks again for sharing and know I say it every time, but I can't wait for the next installment of Project Snowman!!!👍😎
Sweeeeeet.
You know the shop is almost done and its almost october !!!!!!!!
I have always like these trucks. Had posters on my bedroom walls back in the 70s. Thanks for all you are doing to bring these back to life and taking the time to share your adventures with us. Peace
Whenever I see your face Mark this old Dave Dudley song comes into my head
Good show. Old truck is looking better all the time. We are still watching. Take care.
Awesome thanks
Awesome job on those tanks ! Long time subscriber/ longer viewer ,great stuff ,TwinSticks Garage Fan ,Minot ,North Dakota
I always look forward to watching your next videos. Keep up the great work, stay safe and may God Bless
I look more towards this than going home after work. Well done TSTX
I’ve really enjoyed watching the truck come together. Looks like it’s gonna be very accurate aside from the lower window in the passenger door that wasn’t in the door on the movie truck. Keep up the good work.
Good eye 👀 looks like I need to find another door 😂
Just an old trucker saying THANK YOU. I’m always waiting for you videos.
Hi there, I really enjoy your video, I sure didn't know any thing about the big truck, and watching your videos I have learn a lot. I have had all my bothers in laws were all in the trucking business in California, Sure wish they were still around and all of us being younger I sure would get into restoring a truck. So keep up your videos.
those tanks look amazing
Like the Snowman T shirt👍
Looking great
Hey they look nice a lot better than they did before
I can appreciate what you go through just to have that little taste of success. Overall though, unless you have been there and drove one, its that little giggle when you did whatever it was and the slurred way of saying "Oh yeah" .... you giggle and I remember in a Minnesota second what that feeling was. Good on you
You sure do make my Thursday lunch break at work a whole lot better
Loved the music Sir good morning, God bless & SALUTE 🇨🇦🇺🇸✝️!
OOooooOOOOOooo Shiny!! Dang air leak tracking.. I get those fun jobs cause I'm little and fit in places no one should be fitting... Looking good!!!
Starting to look like a proper truck now. Keep up the good work.
projects coming along great and love the new shop! I had a 90 ih with a Cummins stc444 had the same bleeding issue. Put a Fass inline electric pump and filter so can tickle that to bled but also takes load off injection pump pulling fuel and made more horsepower due to plenty of fuel available.. I know its not movie correct but can hide a pump out of site
My grandfather went to school with Jerry reed and he was my grandfathers best man it’s crazy man the stuff you find out
Looking great 😎👍
Everyone should have a pet rock. Man I love watching your channel, it really helps me stay motivated to keep working on my old truck.
Looking good 👍
Thanks again for another Fantastic Video Mark. Truly appreciate your work and what your doing good buddy! Its keeping me sane down here in Australia in lockdown. Without your videos it would be rather dull. And yes without them I would be close to that famous line Snowman said to Fred.
"His about as crazy as your ugly"
Lil priming tip for ya on the cummins. Get an old fuel cap and put a tire valve stem in it. Pressurize the tank to about 10 psi and bleed the fuel system without ever bumping the starter
Looking great as always! Thank for uploading.
That's going to be one sharp-looking rig when you're finished. It's awesome to see it taking shape every week.
>So Mrs Twinstick and I drove out there
You are a wise man.
You could always polish those floor transitions! Looking good Mark, keep it going! Excited for the new shop too!
wow those straps look nice... I ended up buying used rusty straps and cleaning them up "like yours much better" I can't believe what KW gets for tank straps..
How do you not have a million subscribers, excellent content.
Looking good
Looking great! Only up from here now the shiny starts arriving! Great to get the brakes working! So close to a fire up now!
Awesome work as always thank you for making this truck having a wonderful life it's in great hands
One Stop Tommy from Los Angeles area
Oh Happy Thursday and a new Twin Stick Project Snowman video. Truck is looking really good Mark starting to come together.
Looks great
Your fleet is looking 👌 great Mark!!! Iron Duke is just itching to come home
A thousand bucks a tire. In the words of ol Jerry himself…. Well honey hush.
Well done mark tanks look good keep up the good work
Stanceworks was just giving a tutorial on hose fittings too. Lucky day.
when you make hoses use oil on the taper and the inside of hose will make life easier, you can remove the coolant filter and use dca which is much cheaper for the additive, use a test strip for ph level check, when pre filling filters plug the big hole with your thumb or tilt the filter sideways a bit so the oil/fuel will run in the small holes, if your putting the truck on the road make sure the tank is rolled enough so it cant be overfilled, 95 percent of tank capacity, for burst if its ever hit needs room for crush.
Looking very shiny, coming on nicely.
Coming along great! I love the Snowman's truck and the 359, but personally I can't wait til you bring the K125 cabover home and start on it.
Take the hose off of the pup on the pump side of your fuel filter and take your hand and or a rag at the filler with an air nozzle and it’ll push the fuel up to pump.
Best day of the week. Looking great Mark.
man your doing great......keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!...from the bahamas
Those tanks turned out great!! Look great too!! Enjoying the videos!
Great video
Très beau camion américain bonjour de la France Michel France Bourgogne Nièvre 44ans
if the fuel is new then it is clean. you did the right thing by pre-filling your filter with diesel
They look stunning. And that grey truck is beautiful
Outstanding! Hope the nice shiny tanks don’t get in the way when you mount the sleeper!
Nice progress on the tanks and the straps look great! Im ready to hear this thing run!
Me too 😆
Great Tee Shirt. Wish they had one of Carol Jo Hummer from White Line Fever.
