    is it ok if i hyperextend it while i wash my finger? cuz i have done it a couple of time now as i am treating my mallet pinky injury

      No problem at all if the joint hyperextends while it is being pressed on the table or held up by the other hand. Passive extension like this is very safe. It is only active extension that puts the tendon at risk - lifting or holding the finger straight with muscle power! All the best with your recovery.
