I do think that Magalor's experience in the other dimension helped open his eyes to what he was doing. As for one he got a second chance at life, and two he got to see the evil of the Master Crown manifested. I'm sure being on the receiving end up that probably did a number on him, probably realized how much he hurt Kirby as, just like what he did to the puffball, he collected things in order to do something important and then it got turned back on him.

He also shows up in Star Allies and Fighters 2 to help Kirby, and he builds the Dream Collection park as a way to apologize. Does he find a way to return to the main universe somehow? I'm honestly super happy that this remaster exists, because now I can finally finish this game. I have the original version, but the save file I have for it is special to me. My mom & I played the original briefly back when it was new-ish and we made it a decent way through. I always wanted to go back & finish it with her, but never did, & she passed away 4 years ago, so now I'll never get the chance to finish it with her. My mom & I would play a few games like that, play together on the weekend & just have fun. She could kick my ass at Pokemon Puzzle League quite often.
To be fair, Kirby is controlled by Hal, it's really one of the few instances where Nintendo is more or less exclusively a publisher rather than a developer, same goes for Pokemon, at any rate we've had seemingly random dev teams pop up and make solid entries into Mario, Zelda and Metroid fairly recently so it's safe to assume that the option is there for some random dev team to pop up and make an amazing F-Zero and/or Starfox title, good luck getting an official Mother 3 translation though :T
The Magolor Epilogue (alongside the Star Allies Dream Friends in general) just makes me want unique adventures for every major Kirby character now. Taranza, Susie, Hyness and the Mage Sisters, even Daroach, I want it all baby.

Aside from the lack of online multiplayer, my only other disappointment with this remaster is that Player 1 is still restricted to playing as Kirby in story mode. Meta Knight is my favorite character, but I can't really play as him in story mode without having someone else available to control Kirby. And I don't always have someone else available, let alone in person to play the game with me. :/
Not being able to play as other characters as player 1 along with not being able to replay extra mode without deleting the whole file were things I wanted fixed in this remake, but they didn't fix them
@@smashmaster521 That doesn't always work because not only will Kirby fall off the character upon taking damage, but the characters also can't pick up certain objects like keys or candles whenever Kirby is riding on that character's back. (not to mention the underwater sections)
@@ZeroKnight95 And that's why World 3 is my least favorite world. Besides, I always put Player 2 away when I need to carry something or ride in the cleat.
HAL doesn't do remasters, it does remakes. Even Super Star Stacker adds content upon Star Stacker. Not much, but NiDL had Meta Knightmare and maybe Boss Endurance, SSU added: •the ability to drop your ability without making a helper •Helper to Hero •Revenge of the King •Meta Knightmare •True Arena •rendered cutscenes •new icons for helpers and abilities (most noticeable in Milky Way Wishes) •touchscreen support Extra Epic Yarn doesn't change the graphics or music at all, instead getting rid of multiplayer and adding Ravel Abilities. Kirby Fighters Deluxe, Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe, and Team Kirby Clash Deluxe are more of the same appeal their original subgames had. This changes the Dededesign more than a simple remaster, adds more music tracks for old bosses (i.e. Roar of Dedede for HR-D3), lets you actually see some of the lengths he went to for forgiveness, lets you take Kirby and friends to (one of) his amusement park(s), added Mecha and Sand, and made an unfair Magolor Soul for True Arena separate from Magolor EX. Let's try and ignore them porting Festival over as well.
this game is honestly incredible. There are very few remakes I think go above and beyond to make the original game even better but this is easily one of them. Unless you really like ddd's old design or the scope shot minigame, I really don't know why you would ever go back to the original krtd. It's got so much content it's actually almost worth 60 usd (80 cad). I wish it was a bit cheaper but otherwise this game is basically perfect and easily in my top 5 favorite kirby games of all time.
I mean I like it a lot, but while I agree with it blowing the original out of the water, I still think it's held back by a lot of the game design carried over from the original, and it's still kinda lacking in replay value compared to some other titles, (that being said the original was always held back a lot by its lack of content which was at the very least improved a lot here with the new mode and lots of sub games.) In particular, while the new Magolor mode is fun, as well as the new True Arena the game is held back by some of the intrusive gimmicks of the original game, in particular the Super Copy Abilities being really uninteresting, the alternate dimensional holes being meh and the game not allowing you to play as any character other than Kirby as first player (largely because of the super copy abilities.)
@@Robbie_Haruna lacking in replay value??? I understand the extra mode being kinda tedious cus it's just the same game but harder with 2 new bosses, but there's also magolorland, both arena modes, challenge stages and magolor epilogue so idk what you mean there's a ton of content. I'll agree super copy abilities are pretty lame, idk I like the dimensional rifts but I agree they can be excessive and not changing them for extra mode was a odd choice. Not being allowed to play as another other character besides kirby, you mean like every kirby game? I understand wanting to play as other characters and you probably should be able too eventually but idk this is a thing in most of the games. The new side modes like ddd tour, metaknight returns, magolor epilogue are hal's answer to rectify that. At least you can play as other characters in arena and true arena after beating them both at least once, but complaining about playing the main character in a series about that character is very strange indeed. Especially when every super ability section is completley optional and if you really wanted you could invite friends and play as a character besides player 1 (ik not everyone has a lot of free time but still, it's a option).
My one critique with this game; as amazing as it is, the Challenge Stages from Kirby's Dream Collection (and Smash Kirby) would have been perfect additions, as you said. But also, there are enemies that could have easily given Cleaning, Spider, and Archer. And I just feel like that was a missed opportunity.
I am SO SAD we didn't get Smash, it 100% should've been here instead of Festival Imagine being a special reward for unlocking the 5th copy ability room!
Oh, absolutely. I love the game, but I felt such inner disappointment when I swallowed an Archer enemy and didn't get the ability. Archer is just still my favourite copy ability of them all!
I'm so sad that out of all the abilities from later games they could've brought in, they chose Festival. *Festival,* a on time use ability that's massively overshadowed by it's 2 older brothers, Mike and Crash. Like, not having Cleaning isn't near the end of the world. Just would've been nice along with some more challenge stages.
@@castform7 it's probably solely because this game is part of the 30th anniversary celebration. Star allies had it for the 25th so it makes sense it was here. Though surely it couldn't have been hard to port the other star allies abilities
Magolor's Epilogue was such a nice addition to this remake. It left me hoping that other Kirby characters will get their own side games in the future, not just Meta Knight and King Dedede. Imagine how fun an adventure with Adeline would be with her paint ability.
Random Kirby Fun Fact! The devs at Hal love Kirby so much to the point where they don't wanna see him get hurt, so they end up putting little to no enemies into the game as possible. This has gotten them in trouble muiltple times as Nintedo yelled at them for the lack of enemies in the levels.
Honestly when I first started playing RtDLDX I wanted to try and defeat as little “enemies” as possible because they’re all just as adorable as Kirby. Especially the Waddle Dees, you had to save them to progress in The Forgotten Land. Super Copy Abilities make that nigh impossible.
31:3034:30 Biblically Accurate Whispy Woods is possibly the best nickname for a Kirby boss I’ve ever heard. I personally would’ve went with “The unholy amalgamation of Whispy Woods and Zero 2 from Kirby 64” but hey, to each your own.
About the changes to the music in Nutty Noon 5's mini boss tower, the Wii remix of Dedede's theme still plays in the normal route on the normal version of the campaign. In Extra mode though, that normal route instead plays the Star Allies rendition of Dedede's theme. I imagine this detail being easily overlooked by players familiar with the game who exclusively take the secret route and were confused by the music changes there.
Three things. 1) Not long after this dropped as I'm sure you're aware, Dream Land 2 dropped on NSO. So they really aren't giving you a break 2) I also referred to the new boss as God Whispy and a friend (who happened to be on the couch in that GDQ clip you showed of Tilt 'n Tumble) calls him Biblically Accurate Whispy Woods. Hilarious! 3) Those double black holes during Magolor Soul also ate my Sand ability. Did not expect that. I also used the Souvenirs cause you can totally use them in True Arena (at the cost of a mark on the best times but idc) and used up all my healing along with many many random abilities just to get Sand back so that one attempt wasn't for naught.
can confirm that dying to magolor soul's double black holes after half an hour of the true arena causes complete ego death other than that though i absolutely loved this remake
I’m so happy this game has got a Deluxe release, love how it looks and all the new stuff is so neat. This is one my most favourites. Insane how much we Kirby fans we have been getting recently. 💫
I think that the new visual style Return To Dream Land Deluxe introduced should be the style for all Kirby games going forward, it really helps make the game stand out more visually, as well as keeping the Forgotten Land Dedede design, which is kind of the peak for me. As for the new abilities, Mecha kind of reminds me of the UFO ability, and for Sand, well, it's coarse, and rough, and it gets everywhere, no wonder it's so powerful. One question remains, however, is Bandana Waddle Dee still able to defy all known laws of aviation in this remake?
yeah there is no way a Waddle Dee should be able to fly. it doesn't have wings to get its fat little body off the ground. The Waddle Dee, of course, flies anyway, because Waddle Dees don't care what humans think is impossible.
Given pretty much any Helper that can't normally fly/levitate (also Flamberge) can infinitely jump, I just assume defying the laws of aviation and gravity is just a common thing in Kirbys world
Am I seriously the only one who would've never even REALIZED Dedede's appearance changing between games, were the internet not constantly talking about it? Like, for real, to my eyes the changes are so subtle that I don't get it.
21:18 While yes, in the original about 70% was needed in main mode to unlock ex, that barrier was removed in Deluxe, literally just requiring a main mode clear. For fun I beat it with barely 40% and *2* energy spheres and it still unlocked along with the epilogue.
Fun fact there is some concept art for kirby planet robobot that sugested that originally kirby was gonna be mechanized its possible that mecha was simply based on that idea
I wonder what this means for Magolor now for post-Super Kirby Clash. Like will he return to the main canon proper with his green robes to indicate him turning over a new leaf? And if so, what does that mean for his blue outfit or any of his past appearances using it?
I think he already returned to the main canon and switched back to his old blue outfit. Star Allies and Fighters 2 show him using some of the abilities he learned in Epilogue, plus he uses the Gem Apples he acquired in Clash, so they clearly occurred after he returned from Clash.
Gotcha. Feel like it would have been nice to see it be represented by him keeping at least the green color pallet even if his outfit went back to the previous design.
This remaster was everything i ever wanted. Nostalgia done right and damn is that Magolor fight in True Arena fun. I play True Arena daily just because it is that fun to better my time in.
Gonna be incredibly pedantic, but fun fact, the tower music specifically depends on if you're doing the hidden entrance or regular mode. In extra mode the music is still changed but to macho of dedede
Actually love the little details, like the title changes in the original and other stuff. Also found pretty interesting the fact that the final boss in Magolor Epilogue is the Super Kirby Clash/Team Kirby Clash Deluxe tree that you could make grow with microtransactions.
The Kirby Guy woooo X3 I'm currently having a lot of fun doing co-op in this game and I sure hope it continues :D I believe it will :D awesome to hear your happy thoughts too :D
The Master Crown boss fight isn't the crown turning the Apple evil: There was already something evil sealed within the Master Crown, and that evil... Entity (probably a fragment of Dark Matter) used the power of the Gem Apple to form a new body for itself. Hence the Eldritch Tree. Had Magolor not redeemed himself in defeating the Crown... well Kirby would've had to defeat it for a third time. Though I do appreciate how they not only explained how Magolor was able to return and help Kirby in Star Allies, but also confirming where he was during the in between: He was in the Dream Kingdom helping out there.
25:08 Scope shot wasn't scrapped entirely. Egg catcher brings back the mecha dedede from that mode, and the bazooka design was repurposed (and slightly redone) as the blaster design in the new booming blasters minigame, plus, add you said yourself, the scope shot title theme plays in one of the Hal rooms.
I got this game for a nice chill platformer. And I cannot understate just how powerful the outlines are for someone with poor vision. I've kind of always associated Kirby with being more accessible. Super Star Ultra was my previous favorite and go to Kirby game. This blew that out of the water in terms of how playable it is for me. Also Spear Kirby is amazing. I love it.
What’s a really neat detail is in the final phase of the Master Crown boss fight, parts of Soul of Sectonia play within the theme which makes sense as both we’re plant based horrors for final bosses.
Fun Fact: when you kill the master crown in the true arena it immediately dies, but when magolor kills it he has to use a giant sword to actually kill it. Kirby God confirmed.
Kirby's been within my dreams recently, and I couldn't be happier for it, considering what I'm wanting to get a career in my future! But I still can't believe they made a Tree the finale for Magolor, what's next from this!? Would like it if Ant did a double down in cuteness by returning to A Hat in Time alongside the next Kirby, just so we can hear how much he truly loved both games as a whole.

Being a Kirby fan must be one of the easiest career paths in life.

If Triple Deluxe would get a remastered it would be called "Kirby Triple Ultra Deluxe" another good reason to use "Ultra" again
honestly there isn't really much reason to remake those games right now, especially since hal is a lot less lazy with remakes then most companies. Which would mean we'd have to wait longer for krtdd, not that that would be a bad thing but I'm just saying.

Nintendo after releasing Kirby’s Dreamland 2 on gameboy: n o
Aside from the lack of online multiplayer, my only other disappointment with this remaster is that Player 1 is still restricted to playing as Kirby in story mode. Meta Knight is my favorite character, but I can't really play as him in story mode without having someone else available to control Kirby. And I don't always have someone else available, let alone in person to play the game with me. :/
Not being able to play as other characters as player 1 along with not being able to replay extra mode without deleting the whole file were things I wanted fixed in this remake, but they didn't fix them
...You have two Joy-Cons. Use them to do Solo Co-Op runs.
Not much, but NiDL had Meta Knightmare and maybe Boss Endurance, SSU added:
•the ability to drop your ability without making a helper
•Helper to Hero
•Revenge of the King
•Meta Knightmare
•True Arena
•rendered cutscenes
•new icons for helpers and abilities (most noticeable in Milky Way Wishes)
•touchscreen support
Extra Epic Yarn doesn't change the graphics or music at all, instead getting rid of multiplayer and adding Ravel Abilities.
I mean I like it a lot, but while I agree with it blowing the original out of the water, I still think it's held back by a lot of the game design carried over from the original, and it's still kinda lacking in replay value compared to some other titles, (that being said the original was always held back a lot by its lack of content which was at the very least improved a lot here with the new mode and lots of sub games.)
In particular, while the new Magolor mode is fun, as well as the new True Arena the game is held back by some of the intrusive gimmicks of the original game, in particular the Super Copy Abilities being really uninteresting, the alternate dimensional holes being meh and the game not allowing you to play as any character other than Kirby as first player (largely because of the super copy abilities.)
it's a remaster
@@jesusbarrera6916 um no it's not by defintion a remaster does not add nearly as much new stuff as this game did.
@@nascour5991 oh cool and where are you getting that definition?
Because it is not a remake if it's the base game underneath
Ant: Hopefully we can calm down with the Kirby stuff.
Kirby's Dream Land 2 on Switch: allow me to introduce myself.
I am SO SAD we didn't get Smash, it 100% should've been here instead of Festival
Imagine being a special reward for unlocking the 5th copy ability room!
I want more Magalor content, like using them in more modes, way more fun than straight up Kirby IMO
Magolor's Epilogue was such a nice addition to this remake. It left me hoping that other Kirby characters will get their own side games in the future, not just Meta Knight and King Dedede. Imagine how fun an adventure with Adeline would be with her paint ability.
The Sand Ability was helpful in the true arena
17:49 Magolor on the Star Cutter/Lor was actually also in Star Allies
Random Kirby Fun Fact! The devs at Hal love Kirby so much to the point where they don't wanna see him get hurt, so they end up putting little to no enemies into the game as possible. This has gotten them in trouble muiltple times as Nintedo yelled at them for the lack of enemies in the levels.
Also here’s a fun fact: nobody cares you need to shut up
That is hilariously great
Honestly when I first started playing RtDLDX I wanted to try and defeat as little “enemies” as possible because they’re all just as adorable as Kirby. Especially the Waddle Dees, you had to save them to progress in The Forgotten Land. Super Copy Abilities make that nigh impossible.

Biblically Accurate Whispy Woods is possibly the best nickname for a Kirby boss I’ve ever heard.
So they really aren't giving you a break
2) I also referred to the new boss as God Whispy and a friend (who happened to be on the couch in that GDQ clip you showed of Tilt 'n Tumble) calls him Biblically Accurate Whispy Woods. Hilarious!
3) Those double black holes during Magolor Soul also ate my Sand ability. Did not expect that. I also used the Souvenirs cause you can totally use them in True Arena (at the cost of a mark on the best times but idc) and used up all my healing along with many many random abilities just to get Sand back so that one attempt wasn't for naught.
can confirm that dying to magolor soul's double black holes after half an hour of the true arena causes complete ego death
other than that though i absolutely loved this remake
27:10 This looks the character selection menu from Lego Star Wars.
I’m so happy this game has got a Deluxe release, love how it looks and all the new stuff is so neat. This is one my most favourites. Insane how much we Kirby fans we have been getting recently. 💫
31:07 : An average Kirby game final boss
I think that the new visual style Return To Dream Land Deluxe introduced should be the style for all Kirby games going forward, it really helps make the game stand out more visually, as well as keeping the Forgotten Land Dedede design, which is kind of the peak for me. As for the new abilities, Mecha kind of reminds me of the UFO ability, and for Sand, well, it's coarse, and rough, and it gets everywhere, no wonder it's so powerful.
One question remains, however, is Bandana Waddle Dee still able to defy all known laws of aviation in this remake?
"Bandana Dee, awaaaay~!" -Antdude
Despite only seeing gameplay Sand kind of reminds me of a more powerful Leaf
Guard is invincible and in a pile, similar attacks and strong
yeah there is no way a Waddle Dee should be able to fly. it doesn't have wings to get its fat little body off the ground. The Waddle Dee, of course, flies anyway, because Waddle Dees don't care what humans think is impossible.
Given pretty much any Helper that can't normally fly/levitate (also Flamberge) can infinitely jump, I just assume defying the laws of aviation and gravity is just a common thing in Kirbys world
Well whaddya know; mere hours after you upload this video, Dream Land 2 gets shadowdropped on Switch Online! Neat.
17:55 One day you’ll come back Qbby 😢
Having only one Switch game is criminal.
Am I seriously the only one who would've never even REALIZED Dedede's appearance changing between games, were the internet not constantly talking about it? Like, for real, to my eyes the changes are so subtle that I don't get it.
21:18
While yes, in the original about 70% was needed in main mode to unlock ex, that barrier was removed in Deluxe, literally just requiring a main mode clear. For fun I beat it with barely 40% and *2* energy spheres and it still unlocked along with the epilogue.
33:40 yeah but without him we wouldn't have the funny kirby stickers
The Kirby marathon is never ending
I'm not sure if this was in the original, but Kirby moves faster when he has a Super Ability.
And of course, Dream Land 2 gets announced to be coming to the Game Boy NSO service on the same day.
Based off inference the order of events is most likely:
Returns -> The Clash Duology -> Dream Collection & onwards, as this is post redemption
Gotcha. Feel like it would have been nice to see it be represented by him keeping at least the green color pallet even if his outfit went back to the previous design.
Honestly, I dont give a damn about Kirby but I love that Antdude loves him and speak so highly of. Amusing
This remaster was everything i ever wanted. Nostalgia done right and damn is that Magolor fight in True Arena fun. I play True Arena daily just because it is that fun to better my time in.
This is probably one of the best remakes on the switch.
Currently having a blast with this game. So glad I can finally experience it after so long.
Kirby is that series that nintendo likes to experiment with, if you count spin-offs, Kirby has tons and tons of games.

I thought Dedede's new look from Forgotten Land was just from that game, and this game.
And the same day this video came out Kirby's Dreamland 2 came out in NSO

RTDL was my childhood-glad to see it getting some proper love and attention in the modern day!

I think the reason they don’t have scope shot is due to the lack of pointer controls on the switch
Kirby on the draw does have similar gameplay to scope shot, so that's probably why scope shot was scrapped.
17:32 hammer flip was in the Wii version, you just couldn't charge it
