    Chris, I was like you. I just kept enjoying the music without paying close enough attention. There weren't any jarring differences which brought me back to reality. Thanks to you and Jason, Chris

      I agree.. especially when not comparing they all sound great on their own.

    I like what you guys did here, and how you went about it. I'm sure it can be improved, tweaked, etc., but since I've seen Jason's process firsthand, I think it's pretty good for directly comparing sounds in real time. 👍

    Great shootout, thanks guys! 😎
    It's really hard for me to pick a "favorite", but probably the US if I absolutely had to pick just one. The UK's are a little darker, but I personally prefer it a little brighter, but not too bright like the Rhino can be (at times). I have 3 different copies - a Rhino HiFi, US Artisan (Greenie Pitman), & UK WWA (with Vertigo stampers) pressing and enjoy them all... I wouldn't sell any of them. 🤷
    If anyone missed out on the Rhino or don't care for it, I'd say grab a clean Greenie or UK WWA, which are both pretty affordable. 👍

      hey there.. thanks for the comment.. you. the US OGs are great and still a good price point.

  • @raphaelchalhub

    US vs Rhino, so close, basically the same (only you can buy the Rhino M today.. ticks annoy me). Wizard on the Vertigo sounded better to me overall, perhaps because it's a brighter song so the Rhino's clarity doesn't contribute. But I preferred the Sleeping Village on the Rhino, the clarity added to the song here, I think it was an improvement (even if to the detriment of some low notes). Thanks for putting this together guys, great work

    The best thing by far of the video is the Modern Clix record behind Jason!!!! One of the best records in spanish. Also great job on the shootoff, thanks!

    Not sure how you are able to claim there is no digital step when the USB mixer has 24bit/48Khz converters in its USB output OR you went analog out to the FocusRite which then did the conversion. Either way you have a digital "step", but to each their own methods

    • @VinylPiper
      @VinylPiper  2 месяца назад

      Yeah.. after this whole prcoess my audio claims are crap.. I'm just going to stay in my lane and enjoy the music and lyrics the history of it all. I might as well be using a crosley cause that sounds pretty damn good too. I was sure though that #3 on your blind shootout was the Rhino.. :( ruclips.net/video/ECKHGV6FrR0/видео.html I would be interested in hearing a discussion with you and Jason about your different approaches and the pros/cons of it. Thanks for joining in on the dialog. #respect

    • @JasonRoxas
      @JasonRoxas 2 месяца назад +1

      Hey @pbthal Patrick, you can argue about the “digital step” all you want. We did the record A/B comparison live and we could hear difference between pressings. Aren’t you also using “digital” vinyl rips with a digital step?
      Instead of attacking us or my A/B method, can you hear the difference between the pressings in the video? 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @pbthal
      @pbthal 2 месяца назад +1

      @@JasonRoxas Hmm I was not attacking anyone, I was correcting the statement that there was no digital step. Of course I have a digital step, I never said otherwise, and I am not using "real records" according to some so it really does not matter because there is no "definitive pressing" and there is no "truest method", just what we as individuals like the best

    I think it’s kind of funny you stated that you’re not an audiophile Isn’t it the audiophiles stressing out over this Black Sabbath Rhino release? Making endless comparisons between all the other pressings they have???

    The rhino is probably the best reissue of this record done in the last 20 years but it doesn't have the power and the glory of the UK VO6 swirl The French swirl and the nemes not even close to the Fidelity on the rhino a close second would be the 2006 sanctuary Castle UK press from the original tapes

    I own multiple copies I love them all I like WB & Vertico my 2024 Rhino is my current preferred spin the dynamics with dead silent vinyl you can hear more detail bass has been cleaned up Ozzie's vocals are slightly more forward bills drums have more drive tyes bills symbols are rude..
    OG is my fav still all said the Rhino is the resolution pressing no denying that the soundstage is vastly different heard on a decent system or headphones 🤔

  • @revelry1969

    Great stuff “. I really like how you and Jason did this comparison. I think the only issue I see is that you are using cans. Cans are ok to hear tiny little details but it totally takes away the depth and soundstage. Everything is just in your head with cans. I think true tests are always done with real stereo setup. So it becomes sort of setup dependent. Cans are not all created equal. So, the can test is good but it is really hard to tell if you have a big sound stage and depth. After many listens. I really think the rhino hifi is the definitive audio version for me. Another thing to consider. The DR measurements of the think hi fi has higher DR values. This tells me the original is slightly compressed. Also, carts matter. Some can play the energy and some can’t. This could be part of the difference. Also, I found I can turn up the Rhino way higher without overloading my ears. The vertigo is hotter and think compression definitely employed. Compression is crack for the ears. There is a reason it is employed. Of course the OG has collectible value and is a great listen too. I guess we need all of em 😮.

      Valid point.. i did, after the fact, send via bluetooth to my home stereo and listened for a bit but who knows how much that messed with everything as well as the streamyard feed itself.

      I like the Aussie Fontana too. A buddy turned me on to that one ^jeffmichaelcarney^ @jeffmichaelcarney #jeffmichaelcarney (I don't know if any one of those will work) . Out of the 3 that Chris and Jason compared, I don't know gentlemen, I didn't hear what you heard. I liked the US WLP the best. It had the best low end of the 3, the best foundation, and it's not fatiguing like the Rhino is. I didn't think the UK Vertigo sounds as good as the US WLP. I think it's on the brighter side too ... The Aussie Fontana is darker too. Loved this comparison though. I'll have to look up your (and Jason's) other videos ... 👍👍👍
