  • In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine co-authored by Vibhor Krishna, MD, associate professor of neurosurgery at the UNC School of Medicine, researchers show that a new focused ultrasound treatment improved dyskinesia and motor impairment in patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Patients who receive focused ultrasound treatment can go home the same day after surgery. This treatment was FDA-approved for patients with essential tremor in 2016, and now this pivotal trial has led to FDA-approval of focused ultrasound ablation to treat dyskinesia and motor impairment in Parkinson’ disease.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in October 2019. I have more non-motor symptoms than motor and I'm not yet to a place where I need intervention. What concerns me about Focused Ultrasound is that it is irreversible. Even though it is invasive DBS is at least reversible should the need arise.

PD and essential tremor are fundamentally different…..I’m struggling to understand how focused ultrasound can do anything worthwhile for PD ? All focused ultrasound can do is destroy cells. Parkinson’s happens because cells die so how can destroying more cells be of benefit ?😂

Does it help with stiffness. My husband had DBS surgery but still has stiffness most of the time.
    Thank you.

I've had FUS--no regrets. FUS is destructive, but not invasive. DBS is invasive, but not destructive. It's a choice.

I was diagnosed also in 2019, my tremors are mild. I exercise and eat better, however, I would like to try the ultrasound treatment. I experience insomnia, muscle stiffness and off balance sometimes. This treatment may have some good affects.

I still haven't seen one honest doctor who can give you straight answers about ultrasound for essential tremors .their lips are tight on this procedure, I have many questions and they never give you open and honest answers .I truly believe it is all about money and nothing else they just keep asking you to just come and get it done.....what a sad world we are living in...money money money and never ends......

Now focused ultrasound just needs to be used for every neurological disorder that can be treated with it, and also including cancer, hyper and hypo thyroisdism by possibly using the same technique as is used to get rid of scaring with multiple ablations in a grid like fashion and also to destroy scar tissue in all kinds of situations including scar tissue created in the lungs or anywhere in the body and (immune system disorders by taking 60 CC's of blood, diluted in a 160 CC's of saline and zapping the malfunctioning cells to create a vaccine like effect against the disorders and attempt to use it against infections as well.)

I am no FUS expert, but it is just a guess, that if there are neurons that regular treatment can't fix, maybe??? But I think for this one, programming your mind with the gospel thoughts like the following would be more helpful:
      Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
      Isaiah 26:3-4
[3]Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
[4]Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:
      Isaiah 30:15
[15]For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
      Jeremiah 17:14
[14]Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

Not only is very disrespectful and unprofessional but also it seems like you doctors are afraid to tell the truth about this procedure....this is exactly how I feel....and please save your breath....it is too late now....thanks for nothing
