I'm trying to understand the logic of his teammates and coaching staff, who obviously agreed to spoon-feed him defensive rebounds so that he could pad his statistics. Why would you do that? It's not like he's lead them to the title, or will EVER lead them to the title. His teammates are helping to turn him into a HOF player while he does nothing... NOTHING... to win big games.
Westbrook is an anchor on any team he joins because he doesn't care if his team wins an NBA Championship. He only cares about his stat line, and leading the team to victory is somebody else's problem.

@@xdarkxskullzx yeah because Westbrick learn the Selfish Dark Art of Stat Padding.
After KD left OKC the Thunders allowed Westbrook to do whatever he wanted to pad his stats and made sure the team was focused on not winning, but allowing Russ to pad his stats. This help Westbrook create the Selfish Dark Art of Stat Padding.
All Westbrook does if a team and coach allows it is push the pace to get easy assist, hold the ball all day pick and rolling until he can get a assist and don't play no defense at all on the perimeter as a Point Guard to steal rebounds from his Bigs.
So yes Westbrook used these tactics to average a Triple Double for 4 seasons, become MVP and to be a sure H.O.F Player, but it won't change the fact of people who actually watch him play that he's Totally Overrated and a Stat Hog Loser.

People who don't know basketball think Russell is a great player. He's an average player with a great motor and athleticism with a green light to jack any shot he wants any time he wants -- and he does a poor job with that privilege. He is why OKC gets bounced in the playoffs early every year -- because he shoots like 35% from the field and under 30% from three, yet is still putting up the most shots on the team. Russell Westbrook is Kobe Bryant during his finals years: a diva chucker who makes his team worse.

I’ve been a massive thunder fan since 2010 and even I know he is not an efficient basketball player. I don’t think he is that overrated because I can assure you that if you’re not a thunder fan, you will know how many mistakes he makes in games. I still believe that if KD had stayed that they would win a ring. Just because Russ and KD spent 8 seasons together, doesn’t mean they weren’t meant to be. Don’t forget that when they entered the nba finals, Russ was only in his 4th season, KD was in his 5th season and Harden and Ibaka were only in their 3rd season. While a hungry for a ring LeBron in his prime surrounded by Wade and Bosh was who they had to go up against. The first few years of Russ and KD were basically the rebuilding years so I would not count that. When they lost in the finals they should’ve still been able to beat the Heat if they had kept Harden which is one of the most stupid trades in the history of the nba and ruined the chances of them winning a ring. And then came injuries when Beverley injured Russ in game 2 of the first round in the 2013 playoffs (fuck Beverley). The next season they lost to the Spurs who ended up being the nba champs. Then KD got injured in the 2014-15 season so that’s out of the picture. Then it finally comes down to trying to defeat a team that went 73-9 during the nba season and the thunder ended up suprising the nba by going up 3-1, but they blew that lead. I can agree that Russ can be the worst player sometimes, but I really think they should’ve given it another shot and they would’ve won it all. In 2016 they added Oladipo who definitely would’ve helped if KD had just stayed. They were both entering their primes and if KD had played like he did in the 2017 finals they for sure would’ve won. Watching the team we have with Russ, PG and Melo right now is slowly and painfully killing my brain cells. I can’t stand watching the guys just isolate instead of making plays like the Warriors or Spurs. Russ these past 10 games has stepped up, but it’s still not working because the guy literally does nothing whenever another teammate has the ball. Instead of running around screens and setting screens for others he just stands there watching the ball. He’s got the speed, the strength, the hops. Why the hell can’t he take advantage of that god given skill? Go back door for lobs, run around like Steph Curry does. No one can catch up to him it doesn’t make sense why he just stands around. I pray for Russ to win a ring, to win a ring, you’ve got to be committed and do anything to win. Even if it means you have the ball less in your hands. #thunderup

KD will be getting ring after ring... and before you tell me about how he went to the Warriors to get rings for free, he was the best scorer of the Warriors this season... so they clearly have made it work just fine... while Russel all he cared about was shooting and scoring just as much as Durant and didn't care about actually winning... that's what made Durant say "I'm getting the hell out of this mess... go lose alone..."

I'm taking this with a grain of salt as a Thunder fan. Nobody is perfect, and Russell Westbrook has serious flaws in his game. But you seriously dissed him for some really weird things.
    1. How is getting many rebounds a bad thing? Thunder rank among top rebounding teams year by year, and Russell Westbrook is consistently among top offensive rebounders among guards. If, as you said, the system is made so RW gets the boards instead of his teammates, how is that his fault? If coach devised that plan, why would he go out of his way to let his teammate grab board, and then immediately pass it right back to him.
    2. This is just plain ignorant. Russell Westbrook is simply not a high IQ passer. You found yourself the most suitable comparison, seeing as Chris Paul is on pace to finish his career with greatest assist to turnover ratio of all time while also leading offensive rating of all time. Saying you can "change your way of playing, slow down" is ignorance at it's finest. Can you walk up to Deandre Jordan and say "Improving free throws is easy, you just have to focus" or go to *insert random bad shooter* and say "You need to slow down, and practice harder"? IT IS NOT THAT EASY. Does he make bad plays and turns it over too much? Yes. Is it something that's very easy to fix and he won't do it because of his ego/poor work ethic? No.
    3. I'll just say last couple of years, Thunder are consistently among top defensive teams in the NBA. Don't give me "shots contested" crap, Thunder are positive team defensively when Westbrook is on the court. Last season, with more firepower on their offense, Russell was visibly better defensively, and was also among league leaders in steals. I know steals don't equal solid defense, but Westbrook is by no means as awful defender as you made him sound. You can also turn it around, and say Josh Richardson has lowest opponent FG% in the league in ISO. Is he the best defender in the NBA? I doubt many people would say so.
    4. RI - DI - CU - LOUS. Here's what you sound like: "I know he makes many clutch plays, but you can't just cherry pick 4-5 games he is clutch and say he's a clutch player. I'll instead cherry pick 4-5 games where he didn't show up and based on that, i'll name him a choker." He has clutch games, he has choke games, like basically every superstar in league history. If you can't deem someone clutch on 4-5 buzzer beater wins, you can't deem him choker on 4-5 playoff games where he struggled. Even one of those games you mentioned. 34 points, 17 free throws, but he shot 34% from the field. Have you looked it from the other side, where those 17 free throws meant atleast 9 fouls opponents had to give up to stop him? Kobe had abundance of similar games during his career, and he was considered clutch through and through.
    5. Again, you're mixing up Westbrook and Thunder management. Thunder chose to deal away James Harden, not Westbrook. First and foremost, Westbrook really only became face of the Thunder franchise together with KD after KD fell with an injury. Thunder had major injury issues on a year to year basis during playoffs, and it costed them a lot. I'm pretty sure the year Westbrook was injured, Thunder didn't even make the playoffs. Let's just say "didn't get far" means downing greatest Spurs team in franchise history, and losing to 73-9 superteam after leading 3-1 in the series. Thunder were never main contender, first the KD-WB duo had to face Miami superteam of 3, and they were underdogs, and then had to face Warriors superteam, in which, they are underdogs. You didn't "give KD to Steph Curry", you gave KD to a 73-9 superteam featuring top 5 coach, Stephen Curry, aka first unanimous MVP in league history, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, defensive player of the year.
Thunder are responsible for the situation they are in right now, they were unable to find good coach for years, and it costed them. Having a hero ball offense team works when you have Russell Westbrook, greatest offensive player in the NBA in KD, best isolation low post player in Enes Kanter, Waiters the ISO guy while also having stretch 4 in Ibaka. You remove the players while retaining the offense, and your team is heading downhill. Thunder offense is still the same probably from the time they traded away James Harden, great, except now they have completely different set of players whose games suffer trying to desperately fit into those roles.

Whether he was doing it for stats or not, it is statistically proven that a triple double makes them most likely to win, and that's what people always overlook.

What does getting a triple double have to do with winning games? So apparently if someone gets 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists they suck ass and didn't help win the game at all because no triple double

Harden has a career high of 13 turnovers while Westbrook has a career high of 11. Harden averaged more turnovers career wise and this season wise. You even said Harden plays better defense than Westbrook and that got me f'd up. Russ and KD couldn't play well together because they are both ball dominant players that want to be team leaders. Westbrook does not pad his stats, first of all, he is number one among guards in offensive rebounds, he is in the top 2 fastest players in the league so OKC has a system where he runs it down the court off a rebound for an easy and quick play. Russ is also number one in the nba in fast-break points and assists. You think stat padding is getting an open defensive rebound when your bigs box out the other team. That's called being logical and smart, instead of using a 6'3 Point Guard to box out, use your bigs and let one of the best rebounding guards of all time get the rebound for an easy fast-break bucket/assist. You think Westbrook stat pads, watch a video of Harden fighting his teammates multiple times because they unintentionally denied him the triple double by getting the rebound. Keep on hating my man.

I get that the uncontested rebounds may look like he's padding his stats. But there is a reason why he gets those rebounds. He doesn't steal them from his teammates, they allow it and it's not for his stats its to ignite fast breaks which is something the Thunder have been the best in the league for some time now because they have always been an athletic team. They have always done this it's just more prevalent now because KD (who averaged 6-8 rebounds per game) is gone. KD got the fast break igniting rebounds sometimes because he could handle the ball down the court as well and the rest of the Thunder, especially during the 16-17 season, couldn't really do that It's really just Russ. The Thunder are not a good shooting team so they need that one second advantage from Russ getting the rebounds instead of Adams handing it off to him so he or someone else can blow by defenders.

As a Westbrook fan, I do realize that he does stat pad in his rebounds. That is a negative to some extent. Also, he does have a lower basketball IQ, especially in clutch situations where he should trust his teammates more and when he turns over the ball too many times. Lastly, he does not possess the off-the-ball offense the Thunder needs him to have, in order to generate ball movement and to get open shots. However, you can clearly see him guarding many of the top point guards and guards in general very efficiently on defense, leading him to be 12th in defensive win shares. Also, the Thunder is 19 - 5 when Westbrook gets a triple double, proving that his stat padding does lead to wins for the dysfunctional team he has to play with every game. He can be inefficient a lot of the time, and I do recognize this, but he is often carrying the Thunder throughout games, especially when both PG13 and Melo are both hitting bricks. So, I would not say he is completely overrated, but I would say that there are a lot of areas he needs to improve on. If Westbrook ever gets a great coach, I believe he can get the assistance he needs to become possibly the best PG in the league.

I do agree with just about everything that you had to say.

Alright, i watched the whole video and you have made some points that without context leaves a lot to interpretation. Like him being a choker, when you bring up his fg% you might want to look at quarterly splits and what have you, because typically he will start out slow then get hot for a few and bring us back. It has happened too many times for it to not be relevant. Then the 4 T.O. agaist the warriors, they were trapping russ on the inbound and his teammates just expected him to be able throw it out without a turnover. You can guess what happens next. And against the rockets last year, he shot a bad percentage in the first couple games until they started getting their shit together and the whole team began to catch fire. The term would be streaky not a choker bro. Triple-Doubles, while leading the league in uncontested rebounds, think about how many empty rebounds that big men get off of free throws. Westbrook takes those and turns into a fastbreak making the rebound kind of important. Secondly, he is the ignition to their fast break offense. He gets the ball in the backcourt and suddenly there is intense pressure coming up the middle and you have two choices, foul him or allow him to dunk or lay you and maybe get the and one. Turnovers dont really tell the whole story, sure turnovers are bad but looking at turnover percentage and usage rate and the picture is painted differently. Then look at all primary ball handlers and notice they all have a lot of turnovers, because they are asked to take risks and more often than not they get them. He is not a horrible defender, he can play some stellar defense when he puts in the effort. I mean he just locked up harden because he wanted to and harden by your definition choked in the 4th. Plus the defensivs scheme is to force everything into steven or the help that is there. That allows the backcourt to play the passing lanes and generate early offense. And finally, kevin durant. Durant is better but durant doesnt have an alpha mentality, he isnt a leader and everyone knows it. Fact is if he didnt have a miserable 4th quarter against the dubs, the thunder win game six. Westbrook was 4/5 in the 4th until he went 0/1. He kept them in the game while durant shitted himself. Great video man but look a little more and the truth is right in front of you.

This video is the definition of “autism”
This dude does not know what he’s talking about he said he steals rebounds that makes him overrated, ever thought about the assist that he gives oh wait but he gives bad passes which leads to turnovers, well doesn’t every point guard gotta have a lot of turnovers it shows that they are tryin and wanting to win
Wait did I hear you just say he chokes to much Lmaoo but you also said every body chokes a lot of the time, so why would you make that on the list then if everybody chokes oh yea cuz that makes him overrated 🤷‍♂️
Didn’t you say in your other video that Lebron chokes too but it doesn’t make him a bad player, how is russel choking different. The only thing that kinda made sense is the Kevin Durant part... but weren’t we talking about him nowadays being overrated Lmaoo I don’t see your point.
People that see this and read the whole thing thank you guys, this guy does not know what he’s talking about he was probably like oh what if I make a video about russel being overrated would that make people from Oklahoma mad asf and stir up the comments,
If he would of made the video reasonable I wouldn’t be even in the comments
I wish I was here when the video first came out tho.

Major L. 33-9 when he puts up a triple double. Regardless if he's stat padding or not, it's helping his team put up wins. He knows he's not winning a ring with this sorry ass Thunder team. So just let the man do what he wants.
Also, when Russ plays, OKC is number 5 for offensive efficiency.
When Russ sits on the bench, OKC is number 30 in offensive efficiency.

Roman Royale He is very overrated. People are distracted by the fasad of his athletism. He is a turnover God, he is inefficient, and he is a prostyle chocke artist. Skill is what gets you far in the league not athletism. Look at Jason Kidd, Stephen Curry, Steve Nash, John Stockton, and Magic Johnson they got far because of skill. And Curry is actually a underrated defender.

Lol steve nash and john stockton both have 0 rings ... so how did that true pg status work for them ? '' ballhog '' westbrook with KD shot the ball less then curry this last year with KD .... russ shot 18.1x per game with KD in 2016 curry shot 18.3x per game last year with KD ... russ also had to run an entire offense because he never had a secondary playmaker , just like this year ... hence why his usage rate was so high his mvp season , westbrook 2016 with KD usage rate was 31% ... this is unarguable its a literal fact he had a usage rate of 31% last year which was 6th in the nba , guards infront of him were dwayne wade , james harden , STEPH CURRY , and kobe bryant ... russ in his career has never shot over 24x per game , players who had to carry like him in his mvp season , were kobe bryant and allen iverson ... how many times did they shoot per game ?? almost 29x per game ....and russ avg more assist then both of those players

    • @milesaheadpodcast

Cp0conferencefinals His team was last in pass per game last season. Look Stephen Curry in 2016 had a usage rate of 31 and in 2017 his usage rate was low. The only reason why it might have gotten a little bit high in a certain part of the season is because KD went out. And they went on a 15 game winning streak. Jason Kidd won a ring of a skill. How did you miss that ? Steve Nash and John Stockton went to conference finals and finals. He's been in the top 3 for turnovers for the past 4 years.

To: Randall Henderson. Ok u can do an outlet. But one there is not also going to be a player who actually going to run all the way to the end of the floor just to catch the outlet pass. Outlets pass’s are also risky because one the passer can throw it out of bounds and the defender can catch the outlet pass. So it’s better to let russ start the fast break

NO... he said that if the steals make someone a good defender, Steph would be ttthe best defender of 2016... he was clearly sarcastic...
The fact is that Westbrook is the classic egotistical idiot that makes his team WORSE... he makes everyone else look worse than the actually are... and you will see that if Kanter or Adams for example go to another team... they're good players... but Westbrook's numbers make them seem like mediocre at best...
And Westbrook's defense is just a joke... he has the athleticism to stay in front of anyone in the world but he doesn't even try to contest anything... even Steph Curry at least TRIES to play defense... and Curry clearly doesn't have any athleticism that can compare to Westbrook... Curry is beaten in defense because of lack of physical attributes... Westbrook is beaten because he doesn't even try... so yeah... I would take Curry over the stupid Russel any day of the week.. one has the mentality of a winner the other has the mentality of a ball hogging stat-maker... who would you want on your team?

The reason Steven Adams and the rest of his teammates don't get the rebounds is because they box the other players out so Westbrook can get the rebound and run an instant fast break and it may be considered stat padding but it is what okc has been doing for years with him and Durant.

  • @morgan2552t
    @morgan2552t 7 лет назад +54

Now its Westbrook fault that the opponent doesn't contest a rebound with him... Lol!! According to this guy, that maybe why Oscar Robinson and Magic Johnson who are also pg's got as many triple doubles as well. Why were they getting so many rebounds they weren't centers?? Westbrook leaves his guy to get the rebounds after they shoot the ball, because that's what your supposed to do... This may explain the thunder being the best rebounding team for the last two season with and w/o Kd!!
CP3 never been to a conference finals let alone an NBA finals! I noticed you didn't talk about harden performance in the 2012 finals... Wonder why? And I still would choose MVP Westbrook!! You act like CP3, Harden, and Lillard have won championship...!! If KD thought he could win a championship on any team without Westbrook, why choose a team that could win one without KD??

    • @nikosfotidas5125
      @nikosfotidas5125 7 лет назад +14

If CP3 was playing with Durant and a great supporting cast like Westbrook you think he wouldn't reach the NBA finals??? Seriously???
Durant is the one that dragged Westbrook there... but if you think Westbrook is just as good as Durant then ok... I pass... you just don't know how real basketball is played... the one without 5-6 turnovers in every important game like Westbrook has had...
Westbrook is the epitome of a loser... and he will drag down OKC even more because no star wants to play with such an egomaniac idiot... Durant just had enough of Russel's nonsense and just decide to head out... and OKC will pay the price forever... good job OKC...
The biggest mistake in this franchise's history is not trading Westbrook when they weren't getting along with Durant... Durant is much more low profile and sensible than Westbrook so he didn't demand him getting traded... but OKC should have done it anyway... get another Star in the trade and just let Durant play with someone with an actual brain for a change...
Westbrook has a lot of talent but his mentality and his brain are just sooooo bad... same with Harden... they both make their whole team worse than it is in the process of getting good numbers... CP3 has never done that... CP3 has made an untallented big oaf like DeAndre Jordan a superstar.... he has enhanced Blake Griffin's numbers A LOT... Westbrook would have just kept going on his own and people would have said Blake is not good enough and DeAndre is just a big guy that gets some rebounds because Westbrook would have even tried to steal the rebounds from Jordan...
