ok guys I get it, russ isnt top 10 of all time. I didn't take time to consider how many great pointguards the NBA has had in its history when I wrote that line in the script lol, its not that deep
Rusty Buckets in terms of the best PGs of all time I've got. Tier 1: Magic Tier 2 (interchangeable you can rank these guys in any order and you wouldn't be wrong): Steph, Zeke, Oscar, Stockton Tier 3 (also interchangeable): Kidd, Nash and CP3 Tier 4: Russ*, GP*, Frazier and Cousy. For the 9th and 10th spots, you can pick any 2 out of these 4 guys. That being said, I personally put Russ and GP leaving Frazier and Cousy on the outside looking in because they played in weak eras. They aren't big men like Wilt who would obviously dominate regardless of what era you put them. Russ however, you CAN put him in any era and he'll dominate. Same with GP. You aren't wrong with saying Russ is top 10. Worst case scenario he's right there at 11th or 12th and I'd REALLY like to hear someone who'd rank Frazier or Cousy over Russ without them saying "ThEy HaVe RiNGs!".
This is a coaching problem. Why doesn't Billy Donavan point this out and fix it? Westbrook could shoot over 50% and be an all defensive player if he fixed his flaws. Let Steven Adams get the rebounds and just play defense.
Velly it’s not them it’s really westbrook under scott brooks he did the same thing but donavan is just giving westbrook the keys and letting him do whatever he wants
thats true but under both coaches hes acting the same way and doesnt even try to change his game for letting melo and PG get used to the offense and get settled in. All Westbrook changed from this KD to Melo was the triple doubles other than that he still takes wild shots still hogs the ball still has no off ball movement still is lazy on defense. It goes both ways coahcing and the player
Drose is not more control then Russ stop listening to this none sense drose is more out of control then Russ I call it I knew rose would get injured because the way he drives the ball he be out of control and throw a floater up hoping the ball go in and land wrong that's why he got hurt and Russ really don't this video is stupid and wrong about Russ all great player got there flaws and ppl just like to Nick pick on Russ game cause they hate how great he is, it's funny how ppl praise Russ and say he a great player then trying to dwn him at the same time it's all bullshit
Bro what you said made no sense. lol. The best defenders are the players who play hard. theres no such thing as a player who doesnt try much but he was gifted with defense. you arent gifted with no damn defense. no one is born with defense. you get good at defense. how do you get good at defense? you play hard/try hard. Westbrook is one of the best defenders out there, he blocked durant several times (supposedly one of the great offensive players).
cool dreams Westbrook plays hard when he have the ball in his hands. Westbrook is lazy on defense much like Harden been for years. Hell, Harden played better defense than Westbrook in recent seasons. Westbrook barely attempt to cut or move off ball. Also, Shaq been blocked by Nate Robinson.
The Hip-hop Underworld Roberson had nothing tp do with russela effort. They were still good defensively without him. But most of that in attributwd to the consistency of PG and steven adams on that end. Melo is horrid as expected, and westbrook doesnt try all the time. Case and point, the jazz series. Rubio goes off pne game, and russ straps him up the next because he was mad at the attention rubio got. Why wasnt he locking him up to begin with? That big game from Ricky shouldn't have occurred.
Jimi Hendrix Jr. Westbrook can flip the switch anytime and whose going to play real defense in the regular season. What he did to harden and KD in the regular season is how he did in the playoffs he wasn’t going for triple doubles then. If PG or Melo stepped up on the Utah game where pg had 5 and melo idek. They could’ve moved to the next round so you can see how he guards harden and cp3 in the playoffs. Heck go to 2017 and so on to see his defense.
Infinity Mixtapes honestly I don't understand why Americans fear to tell this da truth am from I watched Russ quite along time he is not even top 100 he is good only at padding his stat
ok, a few things 1. I said russ has the potential to guard 1-4, I meant 1-3 2. when I said there is such thing as too much athleticism, I meant you can use to much of it at once and it can cause a miss if its out of control so yeah, enjoy why Russell westbrook is the most confusing player (at least in my eyes) in NBA history Patreon- www.patreon.com/RustyBuckets Follow me on twitter- twitter.com/RustyBUCKETS321 Check out my latest what if "What If Brandon Roy And Greg Oden NEVER GOT INJURED" - ruclips.net/video/0Houz2SIDuw/видео.html
I'm a Thunder fan and I sadly have to completely agree with you. It annoys me watching him play sometimes because like you said he can be really good or really bad.
I literary just bust out laughing when you said Westbrook short circuits without the the ball. And the Dial-Up sounds were too funny. That's probably the truest fact about Westbrook.
Even though I've seen like 20 videos on this this offseason (never gets old tbh), I like the fact that this one exposed the fact that not only is he not a good finisher, he's actually a BELOW AVERAGE finisher. that gets overlooked too much
Slightly Biased Ben Simmons Fan Nah Jerami was pushed, Jokic took more than 5 seconds, and there’s no way he could’ve gotten the rebound with that little time.
Westbrook is favourite player hands down, I love the way every time I watch my thunder he gives 100% effort. He excites me and makes me enjoy the game 10x more. He is so frustrating because of how great he is, but he could be wayyy better. I put him about 7th in the league right now but the hate he gets from people like Colin cowherd is insane and so undeserved. On the defensive end it is such a shame because if you watch the last quarter of the last Houston game against the thunder Russ LOCKS UP James Harden, but this I sadly so rare.
NoDefense no facts if Russ so called stat pads how come in the games were he is 1 assist short or 2 rebounds short he doesn’t get those stats ???if he is stat padder wouldn’t he get those stats ??? (2) he passes the ball up with open shot to get an assist right but wasn’t one of his flaws being efficient shooter ????? (3) he doesn’t have good defense yet averaged 1.5 steals huh? (4) Curry’s the better PG but how come in every stat Westbrook beats him. point assist rebounds steals blocks ..????? (5) he can’t win yet hasn’t he gone to a finals (2012) and been to multiple conference championships.... please someone try to debate this with me 🤗
I think you missed probably the best piece of evidence that his rebounding numbers are empty calories: The team's REB% isnt any better when he's on the floor. If he's such a great rebounder, the Thunder should be getting a higher percentage of available rebounds. But they don't. Also a side argument is that he should be letting the bigs get the rebound so he can already be upcourt to get an outlet pass and push in transition. The whole argument that Russ should grab rebounds to go in transition is bad, because an outlet pass will always move faster than someone dribbling full court.
That is not really correct. First, you have to look at rebounds against shots by opponents. If for instance, Russel's presence decreases the chance of the other team to shoot, or shoot uncontested, then his rebounding is more impactful. Also, if he makes the same rebounds but OKC scores more on transition from them, then his rebounding is more impactful. Another issue is points conceeded vs rebounds made. If the guy he defends scores less then against any other OKC player, then Russel's rebounds are more valuable than the other team mate.
Tropix Mix > You lost me at "you don't know basketball at all". I have played it at international level, my little friend. But hey, since I disagreed with you, I must be stupid.
He’s literally a modern day Wilt Chamberlain scenario. Insane stats but no wins... however, wilt changed and I think Westbrook can too, especially under a good coach
Owen Miller he did, that’s why he’s a top 10 player ever, but when he took less shots and passed more his percentage jumped up to 68% fg and they won the title.
There were a bit similarity, but Wilt lost to historically greatest team ever, Russel lost to team led by rookie. That's a big and huge difference. Wilt is in conversation in GOAT even ego sometime is too big his efficiency is great and have a good is BB IQ. Russel Westbrook BB IQ is quite low (if his BB IQ is good he will be easily in conversaion of all time great PG)
Feel bad for you. You had the talent for a decade to win several championships including this past season, and yes the Harden trade was a blunder, but Russ has been the consistent saboteur - purposefully or not - despite his unquestionable talent. I still am largely disappointed in KD choosing to join a team such as GSW and one that literally beat him the season before, but after this year's embarrassing first round exit despite having PG and Melo, it's clear Westbrook is the only negative constant and was a huge factor in his decision and I can't blame him for leaving.
I just wish in the next season he can actually get better, improve his game and prove the haters wrong. He’s so fun to watch yet still annoys you sometimes
the way westbrook plays is how i play 2k drive and dish. then sit around. i hate when the offense is not there and im the only one making shots and they dont pass the ball at all makes me not want to play D
As Russ being the reason i even care for the thunder. I love this video. Man your grinding this summer and i love it. also a late congrats on graduating. sucks about no senior pranks.
I feel like just now Westbrook is starting to understand when not to and when to take shots. He’s been shooting less threes and driving to the paint more. Which is why he is shooting a career high 47%FG.
digitalized _id4 True that. Westbrook needs the right coach who is not scared of him thing is he been in the league 10 years? He probably won't change. OKC front office won't allow that anyway because they want ticket sales so Westbrook has carté blanche on the basketball court.
I think the problem with russel Westbrook is body control, decision making and him simply doing to much he doesn’t know how to flow in the offense like sometimes the superstar does not always need to be involved in each and every play he just wants to take over everything and his defense could be so much better smh
I just don’t understand how anyone can say Westbrook doesn’t statpad. Basically everyone has acknowledged he statpads even his own teammates. It’s just an example of extreme bias.
Jacobe McDonald but the win comes before the stats. People are acting like you can’t have multiple goals. Yes Lebron’s and other player statpad but their primary goal is to win. There’s a difference.
No hate from me! Great video. I appreciate your analysis. This is kind of heartbreaking though. I honestly think if he would work on finishing around the rim an put in more effort off the ball and defense, and he could win a second MVP.
Russ is actually a great defender when he wants to. In that second to last game in the regular season against the rockets which decided the thunder’s playoff seed, he locked down harden so well to win the game for them.
Basketball is a team game. Westbrook has not shown the willingness to participate without the ball in his hands. One would think after all these years he would learn that. Steph Curry is way better because he shoots, drives, cuts, screens, and rebounds. If you watch the Warriors play closely, he's almost always involved somehow.
A decent argument with some holes. Don't really agree with the stat padding thing but you do make a good point about not being able to slow down. He does need to learn to dial it back when necessary. But the rebound thing makes them ultimately faster as he can get the ball quicker and move the down the floor quicker and get the chance for fast break plays.
Allen Rivera i bet adams is not even thinking of winning a championship by the way he let Westbrook do these things.. Not a championship team to do these type of plays on the court and let your point guard stat pad..
Russell use too much energy to get Defensive rebounds and go all the way to the other side of the court and too far away to play defense. but one of these years, they all gonna figure it out.
Everything you say is true, he has been the most frustrating player I've ever seen, in the 90's players would try to get space away from defenders to get open shots, hence the MJ fade away became so signature. Today, and Russ embodies this more than anyone, players drive into the paint slamming into defenders while shooting in order to get the and 1 call or 2 shots if they miss. That never would've flown in the 90's, it would've been called an offensive foul. I hope the league is starting to change this after Harden basically flopped his way to an MVP. But, back to Russ, Russ takes so many bad shots that it makes it so cringey to watch him, he will be double covered and still throws it up while flopping, he doesn't play defense because he wants to hang around for the rebound, he only plays hard on offense when he has the ball otherwise he stands around flat footed, he's a terrible decision maker and a stat chaser, that's not to take away from his crazy talent.
Sure, I don't mean to demean Harden's talent, he's a great shooter, but he is also the flop god. Dude has been to the free throw line more than anyone the last 2 seasons. I hope the refs start to change the way the game is called, because it is becoming impossible to play defense against the floppers.
Russ averaged 39 shots a game in the final two games against the Jazz in the playoffs. Man had more touches a game this year than last year. You wonder why PG looks lost and Melo looks washed up?
Erik Lerström Unless you know him personally, you don't know his personality. And name one instance that makes him "uncoachable"? The problem with Russ is that he does too much, he needs a respectable coach that can help him slow it down.
@Lerström I feel U - but I think Poppovich could control his low IQ ass! Cause he would take him out of the game, if he did those mistakes and didn´t lsiten to him.
Erik Lerström i agree with you on the modern day coaching. But Scott Brooks aided Russ and KD in playing hero ball. Billy Donavan has never coached at the NBA level(before now) so I don't think players like Russ, melo, KD, and even PG bought into his system. OKC just needs a veteran coach.
Westbrook is a great player, he just need a great coach to get him on track that all. He not a confused player, because the world confuses me not understanding a thing. He knows the game but he just a anxious player that loves the game so much, takes it to another level, but at the same time he afraid of defeat . This is when Anxiety takes over him.
Amelia Love Harris dude, your comment is spot on. I can definitely relate to him, even though he’s in the nba. Like u have stated, there’s just those types of players who are obsessed with winning, and at the same time hates losing. This type of mentality sometimes fazes the players judgment, which in turn may cause them to make poor plays. I don’t mind though lol. Russel Westbrook is so fun to watch!
Tropic Mix yeah, I don’t think having a good coach will matter. He has that alpha mentality and can be stubborn. Most of the things you have said is true, but u gotta admit, he has a great motor. He’s just a 0-100 type of player. He does have a lot of flaws in his game, but the things that he is good at, he really excels in those categories.
I live in OKC and I love the thunder, but I completely agree with you. It is ridiculously frustrating watching every night as he Patts his stats and in the process hurts and diminishes his teammates progress. All for the sake of the triple double.
I’m a huge Russ fan and a Oklahoman. I agree and concede most of the stuff you have said except of the stat padding issues. He works hard and I’m positive he wants to get rebounds and assists. Even the example you gave of trying to get a assist he was getting the ball to the open man. Westbrook as a intense mindset and not the friendliest guy when it comes to the media. Russ is a amazing player and history will remember him as a all time great. He’s just became everyone’s favorite target because the world has turned into a place of hate. There are so many videos just like this about many players. For real, doesn’t everyone try to get there stats up. Do you think steph and Harden are not trying to score as many points as they can. Shooting up threes that the team doesn’t need to win the game.
I agree with everything you are saying in the video except the stat padding. I’m sure you watch him play so you see a lot of those “stolen” rebounds result in a lot of fast breaks and easy buckets. I get the defensive laziness but I don’t think that would change much with Russ anyway
theres a difference between trying to get a triple double to get a win and getting enough rebounds to average a triple double for a season which is what hes been doing the last two years
Heres my one counterargument to russ stat padding his rebounds. Steven Adams specifically said in an interview he likes it when Russ rebounds because Russ can just take it up the court and start the offense and they tend to do well. He should shoot less, give more effort and avoid stat padding, but he’s a great player
Exacly ,everiting you say is on point and Colin Cowherd show a stat that Westbrook in his mvp year was dead last in shot contesting and the difference between him and the guy before him was extremely big
Jorge Anta gay boy no need to explain the backwards ways he play the game the whole video is about that,i bet he is backwards off the court that why you like him
Rad 06-22 it's not that it's just to explain why he was last at contesting shots you fucktwad even then his impact is impeccable since OKC are one of the best teams in the league with him on the court and off were just as bad as the nets last year
yeah, its almost as if a player can be good but also have problems with their games...... Westbrook was gonna be top 10 all time before he started stat padding
+Brian Chien - Your hate for KD is strong. You truly don't understand basketball if you think KD will never be "great". He was a 4X NBA scoring champ while in OKC. Don't hate he left that bonehead Westbrick. Kerr courted KD for an entire season before he left. you emo basketball fans make me laugh....
tbh he is solid, but his obvious stat padding is annoying. my ranking for PGs is the following (I'm including James Harden as a PG.. it suits him better than SG 1. Stephen Curry. He has been the best PG in the league for the past few years now. stats may not show but if you actually watch the games you can see he impacts the games more than the others on this list. 2. James Harden. He is extremely good at scoring at will, and he makes what does look easy. Only problem with him is his defense isn't great at all. 2nd worst superstar defending PG only in front of Westbrook. 3. Russell Westbrook. Also seems to score at will, but takes very risky/low IQ shots. tends to crumble under pressure too. 4. John Wall. Very good 2 way guard. great defense and superb offense. 5. Kyrie Irving. this guy is a major threat with the ball with his fancy handles that can get past you in less than 3 seconds and his superb rim finishing that really is only second to Curry. Side Note. Curry is actually very underrated when it comes to finishing in the paint. dude is actually the best PG when it comes to this stat.
Good shit on acknowledging D Rose in the conversation can't talk about most athletic Pgs without mentioning 2011 Rose (being one of the biggest D Rose fans) but I will admit I'm liking what Russ has been doing past few years no doubt!
when you see adams let Russell get the defensive rebound, it saves the .5 seconds for the fast break since adams doesnt waste time passing him the ball then russ passing the ball down the court. russ gets rebound and automatically goes into fast break mode and makes that possession more efficient
I've had a problem with his shots at the rim for years...for someone so athletic, he misses A LOT of them because he's out of control or trying to flip up a shot over opposition that has very little chance of going in. Also, a lot of players in this modern NBA suck at moving without the basketball. They don't know what to do with themselves, in part because many of them only attended college for one year.
I have a question what's the difference between shooting 50% losing by 15 and shooting 40% losing by 3 to the same team 95% of the time he's the best option. I've seen him give the ball up and his teammates(paul George 5 points) do nothing.
Russ is a gr8 athlete but not gr8 player...the game moves too fast for him to process...he needs to play n a well structured system n or with a player who can control the tempo of the game like Rondo or CP3
Clippers want to trade up to draft Doncic. I think this trade might happen on draft day. Clippers trades: 12th Pick, 13th Pick, 2019 1st, Tobias Harris Memphis trades: 4th Pick, Chandler Parsons, Ben McLamore,
Doc Rivers a good draft picker. Have a history of drafting good late round picks. He could've rebuildes when they blew a 3-1 lead vs rocks in 2015 or when Chris Paul and Blake Griffin got injured in 2016. They would have to get rid of Deondre Jordan for Chandler. Doc already got a few point guard that have better defense luca could ever have in Avery Bradley and Patrick Beverly. And he drafted a point guard last year too. I know Luca a point forward but not really a power forward. He 6'8 and slow.
I really don’t understand ur point with the ‘stat pad’. He can get the ball up the court quicker if he gets the defensive boards hence why the thunder were one of the top if not the best team in fast break points
He doesn’t stat pad rebounds as much as people say...... in 2013-14 season when the thunder had KD and Scott Brooks, KD and Brooks literally said that “ Russ takes the rebounds in order to jumpstart offense and and fast break” he is used to this game style, so they still play this way with Donovan, also his assists aren’t as inflated as many people think also.... he may force one or two assists, but most of his assists are actually justified......his defense can be amazing as you said in the video as evidence in the rockets game near end of season where he almost locks down James harden, he even won defensive player of the year in college, just when he made transition into nba, he started to be used as an offensive guard, and now he almost doesn’t worry about defense Bc he wants to focus on offense.... that’s not an excuse for his horrible defense, but if he tries on defense the 2016-17 team wouldn’t of been that great due to the players on it, but this years big 3 would of been much better Bc Roberson’s injury wouldn’t of taken that much of a hit on the team
he's really just a shooting guard playing out of position naturally he's a scorer i believe he stat pads his assist only because he feels he has to as the point guard but that's not his game
I am admittedly not a league historian but I can't remember ever seeing a player who can move as fast as he does with the ball. Dude is a freak and I mean that as a compliment. But even Carl Lewis eventually slowed down. He is going to have to evolve his game as he gets older. Or his value will begin to drop off drastically as age begins to slow him down.
I don’t mind the 20rebounds to get a triple double in the last game to average a triple double David Robinson scored 70 to get the scoring title like let’s stop if a record is on the line last game you go for it 2015-16 warriors did it
I'm a thunder fan and I love russ but the only thing wrong about this video was that no one gets pissed about his crazy shots at the rim, cuz trust me I do... unfortunately Westbrook for as smart as he is doesn't understand what to do to win a championship, because he just constantly wants to play hero ball but individuals don't win championships, teams do. Trust me if russ ever wins one he's finals MVP for sure but that's only if he trust the hell outta his teammates the whole series, plays off ball more/ trust his team more, plays really efficiently and plays the most lock down defense he can cuz there are times when he really locks down but he's gotta do it for a full 7 game series
I still believe D Rose is the most athletic we’ve ever seen point guard wise.. and don’t believe Westbrook is too 10 ever until he has at least ONE ring.
What happened in that 2011-2012 season that a lot fewer guards finished at the rim? I follow basketball, but not that closely. Basketball is my sport, but I just don't follow as closely as some of my friends.
Holden I made a video about him so it means I hate him? I acknowledged that I am a fan of him at the start of the video. none of my criticism is hate, criticism doesn't equal hate. I hope you know that
Every one of these Westbrook "critique" videos start with the author saying they love him. But then the videos go into tireless discussions about usage rate, efficiency, bad decisions, chemistry issues, etc. Sounds like there's not much to love, after all? Anyways, not to shit on your video, but it's amazing to me how many Westbrook "hate" videos get uploaded which all say the exact same thing. You're all obsessed with this man.
Haha ive been saying westbrook was over hyped sense harden got traded. I found it so funny when people put the loses on kd when westbrook would tank 6 lay ups in a row in the fourth or just wouldnt pass. Plus like you said he passes for stats not for ball movement and opening the floor up for others is not his priority. I also told all my friends harden should have been the point and wes should have been sg and here we are now. Harden one of the best passers in the league and Westbrook finishing horrible with out KD just like in 2014 or was it 13? Ehh who cares anymore for those dark dark days
E WALL people forget that Harden was the 4th quarter PG the season they made it to the finals, not Westbrook! Harden was, and still is, the better decision maker. It was easy to hide Russell’s low-IQ, inefficient game under all of that talent but Harden’s trade and KD’s defection allowed that blemish to surface and engulf the whole, less-talented Thunder team like a black hole.
As a 6'3 chubby white guy, with no jump shot, I can confirm defense is 70 percent effort. It's the only reason I ever saw court time at my small college.
ok guys I get it, russ isnt top 10 of all time. I didn't take time to consider how many great pointguards the NBA has had in its history when I wrote that line in the script lol, its not that deep
He stat pads when they're about to win the game so that 81% win percentage when he gets a triple double is false numbers.
I got what you meant when you said it bro 😂 people take things so literal
Rusty Buckets he is a top ten pg. he not done. He is determined and all he needs is ONE
Rusty Buckets in terms of the best PGs of all time I've got.
Tier 1: Magic
Tier 2 (interchangeable you can rank these guys in any order and you wouldn't be wrong): Steph, Zeke, Oscar, Stockton
Tier 3 (also interchangeable): Kidd, Nash and CP3
Tier 4: Russ*, GP*, Frazier and Cousy.
The Hip-hop Underworld Your name says it all
I would just love to see Russ with a coach that’ll get into his head and make him realize how good he can actually be
De'Andre impossibruh
Is there one?
He needs Popovich. Pop wouldn’t be afraid to call Russ out or bench his ass if he made stupid decisions.
KennyD But would he even change
Matthew Morcos you never know. Westbrook has never had a coach that has held him accountable.
He plays basketball like I play NBA 2k😂
Facts..
So he fails
Lol was literally thinking that the entire video
Ommm we do not be trying on defense😂
I Stay under the rim to get the rebound as well lmao
This is a coaching problem. Why doesn't Billy Donavan point this out and fix it? Westbrook could shoot over 50% and be an all defensive player if he fixed his flaws. Let Steven Adams get the rebounds and just play defense.
Velly it’s not them it’s really westbrook under scott brooks he did the same thing but donavan is just giving westbrook the keys and letting him do whatever he wants
Chii Mate Both were not doing their job. Players make mistakes it's the coaches job to fix them.
thats true but under both coaches hes acting the same way and doesnt even try to change his game for letting melo and PG get used to the offense and get settled in. All Westbrook changed from this KD to Melo was the triple doubles other than that he still takes wild shots still hogs the ball still has no off ball movement still is lazy on defense. It goes both ways coahcing and the player
Chii Mate I'm almost 100% sure nobody ever told him. Proper coaching can fix these problems. Like I seen Pop bench players for doing dumb shit..
Velly it’s more of he probably doesn’t want to, he has Kobe’s mentality of wanting to be the man without any of the grit
Thank you for giving drose some credit people forget how agile and in control that dude was
Word
Control in everything but his landings...
Cameron Thibodo In control? The most jerky erratic player to ever play?
Russ does not get enough flack for being poor defensively, people need to stop giving him a pass just because he “plays hard”.
Bro what you said made no sense. lol. He and LeBron are in the same boat of coasting on defense during the season and flipping the switch in the playoffs

I'm a huge Westbrook fan but I can't ignore that there are some very real flaws in his game
Infinity Mixtapes Me too bro....He's a true competitor
Infinity Mixtapes me too
The Hip-hop Underworld mj fan will say mj
Infinity Mixtapes every player has flaws
Infinity Mixtapes honestly I don't understand why Americans fear to tell this da truth am from I watched Russ quite along time he is not even top 100 he is good only at padding his stat
ok, a few things
1. I said russ has the potential to guard 1-4, I meant 1-3
2. when I said there is such thing as too much athleticism, I meant you can use to much of it at once and it can cause a miss if its out of control
so yeah, enjoy why Russell westbrook is the most confusing player (at least in my eyes) in NBA history

Naw you not a real Westbrook fan unless you think he can do no wrong
Jordan Jenkins he wouldnt get much hate if his IQ was higher and he also put more of his effort on defense.
That’s not how being a real fan works
Real sht! 😂
Skip 2 My Lou he would have a ring by now with Durant if his IQ was higher
hbk okay. Noted
I'm a Thunder fan and I sadly have to completely agree with you. It annoys me watching him play sometimes because like you said he can be really good or really bad.
CSM (Cosmic) yes ik me too I would usually get mad but no it’s honestly facts..
I literary just bust out laughing when you said Westbrook short circuits without the the ball. And the Dial-Up sounds were too funny. That's probably the truest fact about Westbrook.
why would anyone hate when you spit nothing but FACTS
Skip 2 My Lou misinformed fanatics
Skip 2 My Lou this is not fact, this is what he thinks. Confused and Anxious is 2 different things.
Skip 2 My Lou cause people can’t handle the truth
Even though I've seen like 20 videos on this this offseason (never gets old tbh), I like the fact that this one exposed the fact that not only is he not a good finisher, he's actually a BELOW AVERAGE finisher. that gets overlooked too much
That Gary Harris game winner is all I wanted mentioned because that shit was annoying cause instead of guarding him, WB was sittin in the paint ofc🤷🤷
Jackson Byrne FAXXX
No he gets his due, the media constantly is hyping past like Colin and people who look at stats. Him winning an mvp was a joke, he obviously stat pads
Jackson Byrne he gives 100% effort in offense 0% on defense. So he gives 50% effort per game. Lmfao
glov allsilence Even when he's on offense he only gives effort when he has the ball. When he is off the ball he just stands around.
Spitting facts man! Keep it up!
(5) he can’t win yet hasn’t he gone to a finals (2012) and been to multiple conference championships.... please someone try to debate this with me 🤗
young nike fax couldn’t have said it better myself
young nike bruh, don't be blind. Here, watch this ruclips.net/video/RMtEWzQvKjI/видео.html
young nike here's another one, it's this year's stats ruclips.net/video/k4O82XCpyEc/видео.html enjoy! 😂😂😂
Matei Constantinescu sounds just like LeBron
Matei Constantinescu That’s actually LeBron because you have to factor in rings
Eh wilt scored efficiently tho
Owen Miller he did, that’s why he’s a top 10 player ever, but when he took less shots and passed more his percentage jumped up to 68% fg and they won the title.
There were a bit similarity, but Wilt lost to historically greatest team ever, Russel lost to team led by rookie. That's a big and huge difference. Wilt is in conversation in GOAT even ego sometime is too big his efficiency is great and have a good is BB IQ. Russel Westbrook BB IQ is quite low (if his BB IQ is good he will be easily in conversaion of all time great PG)
as an OKC fan i 100% agree
Junior ashabal Its not even hating when much of the critique people give are straight fact
ha nope
Envy10 ha yep he did bro
what this guy is saying is that, westbrook has the potential to be even better than he is right now if he stops being so stubbon (im a westbrook fan)
C JL problem is that bad habits die hard
the way westbrook plays is how i play 2k drive and dish. then sit around. i hate when the offense is not there and im the only one making shots and they dont pass the ball at all makes me not want to play D
I’m an OKC fan but I completely agree with everything said in this video
As Russ being the reason i even care for the thunder. I love this video. Man your grinding this summer and i love it. also a late congrats on graduating. sucks about no senior pranks.
Lol at 11:00 Steven Adams letting Westbrook get that rebound.
happens all the time..especially in the last regular season game.
Whos letting Westbrook get the rebounds now?
I feel like just now Westbrook is starting to understand when not to and when to take shots. He’s been shooting less threes and driving to the paint more. Which is why he is shooting a career high 47%FG.
Straight facts I'm just gonna send this to anyone I have to argue with about Westbrook over the internet haha
chill out you clearly didn't watch the video haha
I think Westbrook just really needs some next to him really serious about getting his basketball IQ and decision making better
I think if he teamed up with LeBron he would help russ
kd, harden, oladipo, adams, and pg13 haven't been enough?
he had one..he left for the Warriors.
digitalized _id4
True that. Westbrook needs the right coach who is not scared of him thing is he been in the league 10 years? He probably won't change. OKC front office won't allow that anyway because they want ticket sales so Westbrook has carté blanche on the basketball court.
digitalized _id4 he needs coach pop to set him straight
I think the problem with russel Westbrook is body control, decision making and him simply doing to much he doesn’t know how to flow in the offense like sometimes the superstar does not always need to be involved in each and every play he just wants to take over everything and his defense could be so much better smh
He doesn’t care about anything but padding his stats
FACTS I have never seen Russ cut for a easy layup or a back door alley oop
I just don’t understand how anyone can say Westbrook doesn’t statpad. Basically everyone has acknowledged he statpads even his own teammates. It’s just an example of extreme bias.
Samson The Lion everyone plays for stats lol it’s apart of basketball Bron does the same thing
Jacobe McDonald but the win comes before the stats. People are acting like you can’t have multiple goals. Yes Lebron’s and other player statpad but their primary goal is to win. There’s a difference.
Samson The Lion you don’t think Russ cares about wins? When did this narrative start that he’s selfish. He’ll do whatever it takes to win man
Jacobe McDonald Nahh he won’t. He cares about winning but not as much as his own personal legacy and that’s facts bro
Samson The Lion I feel you bro I respect your opinion
Let the Triple Thunder double go and Russ is going to be better for sure when he stops caring for stats
I love Russ but he killing me with how he plays lmao
Thank you for this video, I've been trying to say this for a year or two now, happy to see I'm not the only one with this idea
I’m shocked at the comments of this video. Barely any hate comments about the video which is good cuz the whole video is 100% facts
Edward Lee But Billy Donovan is a bitch 🤷♂️
And don't forget off-ball movement
A decent argument with some holes. Don't really agree with the stat padding thing but you do make a good point about not being able to slow down. He does need to learn to dial it back when necessary. But the rebound thing makes them ultimately faster as he can get the ball quicker and move the down the floor quicker and get the chance for fast break plays.
I love Russell Westbrook, but I see why KD left because westbrook is hard to play with no one wants to play with him
Shamon Shaw Victor oladepo could play with him.
Lol
Adams seems to work well with him on offense
Emphasis on " offense " since ik the rebounds bit will get pointed out
Allen Rivera i bet adams is not even thinking of winning a championship by the way he let Westbrook do these things..
Douglas Quaid Facts. He would never be able to play in the 80’s and 90’s.
Not hating on Brooks or Donovan, but a lot of these shortcoming could have been overcome with a stronger willed coach.
Russ averaged 39 shots a game in the final two games against the Jazz in the playoffs. Man had more touches a game this year than last year. You wonder why PG looks lost and Melo looks washed up?
Pg went 2-16 in the final game and Melo doesn't fit with the thunder
廖俊翔 Westbrook bright them back in game 5. So yeah you better believe he took a lot of shots
With the benefit of some hindsight, Melo actually WAS washed up.
I think Westbrook needs the right coach.
Erik Lerström Unless you know him personally, you don't know his personality. And name one instance that makes him "uncoachable"? The problem with Russ is that he does too much, he needs a respectable coach that can help him slow it down.
He has low Bball IQ - so U are totally right; he needs a great coach, who can control and guide him
@Lerström I feel U - but I think Poppovich could control his low IQ ass! Cause he would take him out of the game, if he did those mistakes and didn´t lsiten to him.
Erik Lerström Scott Brooks was a good coach. But I don't think Russ respects Billy Donavan. Russ just needs a tough coach that he respects.
0:08 “... a top 10 point guard of all time.”
Ok, sure.
Great video. Love the unconventional editing. Keep up the work.
I live in OKC and I love the thunder, but I completely agree with you. It is ridiculously frustrating watching every night as he Patts his stats and in the process hurts and diminishes his teammates progress. All for the sake of the triple double.
Westbrook playing like me in 2k my career
I'm a Huge Westbrook Fan & I Agree With Everything You Said. I've Watched A Couple Other Videos You Deserve More Subscribers You Got Another One Here
I’m a huge Russ fan and a Oklahoman.
I get the defensive laziness but I don’t think that would change much with Russ anyway
theres a difference between trying to get a triple double to get a win and getting enough rebounds to average a triple double for a season which is what hes been doing the last two years
Good video, learned a lot. Liked the song at 26 seconds in - The Process by LAKEY INSPIRED
just a suggestion. See if you can put footage from the television feed so the audience can see his play from an overhead view. :))
Russ actually should do less and trust team more. I promise he will be atleast in conf finals if he did that
Hard to trust teammates that constantly miss shots
@@AbsoluteSauce Hard to consistently make shots when you only get the ball to shoot instead of letting the offense flow.
Rad 06-22 bc he went to grabbed the rebound to lead the fast break since OKC scored most of their points during the fast break
Jorge Anta gay boy no need to explain the backwards ways he play the game the whole video is about that,i bet he is backwards off the court that why you like him
Rad 06-22 it's not that it's just to explain why he was last at contesting shots you fucktwad even then his impact is impeccable since OKC are one of the best teams in the league with him on the court and off were just as bad as the nets last year
My man said top 10 pg of all time. I don’t even need to watch this video now.
You think that he’s a top 10 point guard ever but you say he’s a stat padder🤔🤔🤔🤔
yeah, its almost as if a player can be good but also have problems with their games......
Westbrook was gonna be top 10 all time before he started stat padding
Rusty Buckets well ok thanks for explaining I was confused
daniel ntumba
Here's the thing Russell Westbrook is not a point gaurd.
Because he spent almost a decade wasting an all time great's career?
+Brian Chien - Your hate for KD is strong. You truly don't understand basketball if you think KD will never be "great". He was a 4X NBA scoring champ while in OKC. Don't hate he left that bonehead Westbrick. Kerr courted KD for an entire season before he left. you emo basketball fans make me laugh....
Brian Chien Says some dude who doesn't mean anything to anyone
+Big Poppa Botch - He probably slept with KD's OKC jersey...
KD a beast but he gets slack for not finishing off the GSW series
DJiBouti Jeter - Question: Who's team was that? KD's or Westbrooks?
tbh he is solid, but his obvious stat padding is annoying.
my ranking for PGs is the following (I'm including James Harden as a PG.. it suits him better than SG
That 70% just trying on d reminds me of Kirk Hinrich
Seiz Nolo or Matt dellavedova
Good shit on acknowledging D Rose in the conversation can't talk about most athletic Pgs without mentioning 2011 Rose (being one of the biggest D Rose fans) but I will admit I'm liking what Russ has been doing past few years no doubt!
Most athletic is good but basketball IQ is were you win rings
when you see adams let Russell get the defensive rebound, it saves the .5 seconds for the fast break since adams doesnt waste time passing him the ball then russ passing the ball down the court. russ gets rebound and automatically goes into fast break mode and makes that possession more efficient
Top 10 point guard of all time? Nah
As much as I hate how this is so accurate... this does have a lot of points in it about Westbrook’s mistakes and how he can avoid them
I have a question what's the difference between shooting 50% losing by 15 and shooting 40% losing by 3 to the same team 95% of the time he's the best option. I've seen him give the ball up and his teammates(paul George 5 points) do nothing.
Facts!, but Durant joining the Warriors doesn't have anything to do with Russell, people criticize Durant for joining GSW not for leaving OKC
Russ is a gr8 athlete but not gr8 player...the game moves too fast for him to process...he needs to play n a well structured system n or with a player who can control the tempo of the game like Rondo or CP3
Very good video and great analysis of Westbrook's faults. Subscribed the channel.
Clippers want to trade up to draft Doncic. I think this trade might happen on draft day.
Clippers trades: 12th Pick, 13th Pick, 2019 1st, Tobias Harris
Memphis trades: 4th Pick, Chandler Parsons, Ben McLamore,
JJ927 Official Chandler parsons lol.
The Clippers will be rebuilding so they wouldn’t mind taking big contracts.
Don’t the Grizzlies already have Gasol?
your vids r really good
I really don’t understand ur point with the ‘stat pad’. He can get the ball up the court quicker if he gets the defensive boards hence why the thunder were one of the top if not the best team in fast break points
What's the song name around the 34 second mark?
You’re wrong about the triple double stat. The games in which he had a triple double (not a triple double average) the team was 81-18.
he's really just a shooting guard playing out of position naturally he's a scorer i believe he stat pads his assist only because he feels he has to as the point guard but that's not his game
9:30 let's be honest, if anyone could make history by getting 16 rebounds they would
This video great! It's a very objective assessment of Russ's game. Russ is my player, but his game is only one direction and one spead.
love your videos man but we need more what ifs pleaseee
Wht song is in your intro? That piano after that rusty buckets
Those AOL sounds were funny.
was waiting for a comment on that lol
I am admittedly not a league historian but I can't remember ever seeing a player who can move as fast as he does with the ball. Dude is a freak and I mean that as a compliment. But even Carl Lewis eventually slowed down. He is going to have to evolve his game as he gets older. Or his value will begin to drop off drastically as age begins to slow him down.
Great video but I'm sorry Westbrook is not a top 10 point guard of all time
I don’t mind the 20rebounds to get a triple double in the last game to average a triple double David Robinson scored 70 to get the scoring title like let’s stop if a record is on the line last game you go for it 2015-16 warriors did it
I'm a thunder fan and I love russ but the only thing wrong about this video was that no one gets pissed about his crazy shots at the rim, cuz trust me I do... unfortunately Westbrook for as smart as he is doesn't understand what to do to win a championship, because he just constantly wants to play hero ball but individuals don't win championships, teams do.
The only thing that I think will happen from all these people exposing Westbrook is just the expectation for OKC will go down.
Music really be banging on here no lies
Westbook CAN defend, when he decides to, he is LCKDOWN, he just chooses 60% of the time not to. But he can guard at an elite level when he turns it on
I still believe D Rose is the most athletic we’ve ever seen point guard wise.. and don’t believe Westbrook is too 10 ever until he has at least ONE ring.
What happened in that 2011-2012 season that a lot fewer guards finished at the rim?
I follow basketball, but not that closely. Basketball is my sport, but I just don't follow as closely as some of my friends.
You people all make these lengthy, detailed videos because you secretly love this man and watch his games all day long.
Your right btw I’m huge Westbrook fan
8:21 LOL
Wouldn’t you try to get 20 rebounds to average a Triple double? I agree everything with this video but the stat padding.
