Hades is the new Roguelike game being developed by Supergiant Games. The game is phenomenal, with deep combat systems and classic roguelike elements and I'm here to break them down and serve you the best tips and tricks to help you make the most of your runs.
In this Hades Beginner Guide series I will be creating simple How To videos for players new to the game and just getting started. We will be examining the resources available in Hades, the powers you collect during a run, and the tips and tricks of combat and building successful runs. I break down the Hades game systems into simple beginner tips that new players can use to guide their runs as they learn the game. I hope you find them valuable!

In fact, the rose is probably the keepsake I started most with. It is also worth mentioning that Aphrodite synergises insanely well with Excalibur. And if Dionysus is also present for Festive Fog + damage reduction while standing in Festive Fog, you can probably get away with defeating Hades while spamming Excalibur special and cast on yourself while standing still with 1-2 revenge boons. In fact, I was pushing my heat level at 11 when I accomplished this without Dionysus getting involved. Defeated Hades by standing in his laser in Phase 2 with epic Zeus revenge levelled to 5, both above and below 50% of his hp bar. If I recall correctly, each tick of his laser tickled for 5 damage and I had 350 max HP or so.
That actually sounds like an awesome build! It's never occurred to me to get a ton of damage reduction to make good use of revenge boons. Thanks for the new build idea and leaving such a detailed comment!

@@mattsimus7775 I'm glad I contributed =D Also, your boyfriend bow build inspired me to upgrade the Hera bow aspect next. But to be honest, I would never pick +4 special shots on non-Chiron aspect lol.
And if you ask me, Weak duration buff is probably more important than the other two. Not that they are that much worse than duration. I once got offered all three in a room in Elysium. It took me nearly 5 minutes to decide. >.<
Although, this could be because I'm kinda stuck in the paradigm of thinking about putting Aphrodite on my slowest attack as a utility sort of move instead of the biggest attack buff.

I quite like the increased special shots on all the bows actually, it adds more shots without making the firing cone much bigger so you can more easily apply statuses or stack damage.
That's fair on lengthening the length of weak as well. I usually like to put weak on a slower attack as well, but with the strike and flourish having the best damage increase in the game I also have started taking it on rapid attacks as well. Basically, I find it pretty easy to maintain weak on enemies with the base three seconds, so I like the other buff boons more.
I think you're right though and it comes down to personal preference.

Just started watching your channel with the god guide playlist. I'm about 30 minutes into this first video and I have to say your content is great. Easy to understand without spending too much time explaining basic ideas. Very thorough and efficient use of time. I was worried that there would be a lot of fluff in a video this long but there was not very much wasted time at all. I have a whole playlist to binge through, probably gonna listen to them like a podcast while I work. Keep up the good work man, so glad I found your channel.

As a Canadian, I approve this build. Also, I've always avoided Aphrodite because I didn't see the value of the Weak status. Now I see there's actually a lot more to her and I'm gonna give her a shot. If she ends up getting me my first clear I'm gonna laugh.
After watching your video, I decided to use the rose keepsake to get Aphrodite to appear more often and I took your recommendation to go for higher rarity boons instead of leveling them up and I kid you not I was able to finally beat Hades today. It took me 41 attempts.

Yeah its pretty phenomenal. It looks underwhelming, but once you try it out it's like, oh ok free hits with no danger? Yes please.
Not gonna lie, I get Aphrodite boons once every 10-12 playthroughs.

I just started playing Hades, but I already always grab her call boon if I see it. It takes a big chunk of bosses health. Happy gaming

Love the Hera build. Loading Aphros cast in a bow attack that Dooms is fantastic. No doubt the chill explosion boon makes your Flourish that much better too.
Yeah it was a really fun build to have come together, which is why I decided it needed a fun name too. Was super effective and high damage, definitely one of my favourites.

But guess the doom damage if he had Aphro on the attack and Ares on the special. With the doom stacking boon and the Aphro/Ares duo which continuously damages weak afflicted foes with doom, that would be a blast!
Is this still updated for 2022/2023? Im sure there hasnt been crazy updates but just curious since I just picked it up
I wish the synergy with Ares worked a little differently. She works so well with most other gods, but with doom being the weaker part of his set, the only way I can see it working is maybe doom on Chiron special with the duo being an idea.
I actually really like the synergy with Doom when I look at it in terms of efficiency.
With one level up you can get most epic doom boons up to almost 200 damage, not to mention the impending doom buff adding another 70% or so. So 200 damage, plus another 2 activations from aphrodite at 50% reduced damage each time results in another 150 damage, and 350 damage dealt from 2 boons, 1 pom, and only two landed attacks is very appealing to me. Especially since you will probably be reapplying both doom and weak fairly regularly, keeping the additional trigger at maximum damage.
It's a high damage hit and run style of play, which is something that I really enjoy and matches my regular game instincts as well, so something I find myself taking a lot.

Her own call with Zeus's duo boon is insanely good at boss fights, its basically a free stun every 10-ish second
That's a pretty great combo idea actually, have you tried it recently? I tried her call after the V1.0 was released and found that single bar charges didn't stun bosses very noticeably, curious what your experience is.

Hmm I suppose you could do that yeah. Probably pretty great with a ranged weapon as well!
I feel like, just in general, the game picks a handful of gods that you will see several times over the course of a run and you get a sprinkling of the others. It's not uncommon for me to get a single Aphrodite boon if I get one at all, and then there will be runs where I collect more than half of what she has to offer. The same thing happens with the other gods, at least in my fallible memory of my time trying to escape the underworld.
Well let me give you a sneak peek into an up and coming guide..... in a run you will be able to collect 4 different main gods boons, Hermes boons, and usually chaos boons. So boons from six gods total.
You can adjust this by using keepsakes in elysium and styx to pick a fifth and sixth God if you want the additional variety.
It does seem a little random how many of each gods boons you find, but there is some ways to manipulate it slightly...

Isn't '2.5' 250%, not 25%? That's how it works in the math world, maybe the wiki is off idk.
I'm not sure but isn't DMG buffs additive while DEFENSE is multiplivative with each other so instead of 65% DEF we'll get 49-ish?

Yes, defense buffs are multiplicative instead of additive. However, Aphrodite has a boon that increases the effectiveness of the weak damage reduction instead of adding an additional source of damage reduction. So in this case it should scale additively, making it a very strong combination!
