Divine Dash + epic version of Hermes extra dashes is beautiful. Just beautiful. 5 dashes in a row deflecting everything and I just got Athena's legendary. Going into the final boss feeling good.
Man that sounds like a super fun build and an easy clear. Hope you made it out, and thanks for taking the time to comment and check out my content! -Mattsimus
That was my fourth run, I had stacking doom, triple spear, with the quick jab, divine dash and the max Hermes dashes. I felt invincible, and then I got poisoned on repeat
Great guide, as always! I'd love to see some advanced tips in the future; especially focus on beating the final boss and post game! This is a killer channel, man. Your production quality is slick! Also, A+ voice!
Thanks for the comments and compliments Shane! Advanced guides are on their way! I just want to make sure i cover as many beginner topics as possible. Also, the next video is going to be an in depth boss combat guide. Its a big topic to cover so its taking a little longer, but it will be out soon!
Thanks Charlie, I'm glad that you are enjoying the videos! Theres been a few funny comments about my mispronounciation and I'm glad it amuses everyone so much 😋

@@mattsimus7775 Aphrodite or Artemis. I haven't really figured out the best uses for either. I am still fairly new at the game. After watching your Athena vid I took her as a main with Fists. Deflect and backstabbing attack was great after the Hermes attack speed boon and long range 🔨 .
Aphrodite it is then! She's been on my mind for a while so that works well. Really happy to hear you had a good run with Athena! If you'd like I do also have a Poseidon and Ares guide to tide you over while the Aphrodite one is in production. Thanks for watching! -Mattsimus

Speaking of pact of punishment, if you take heightened security, sure footing is useful in that instance too, especially if you just start to choose that option.
So I actually play heightened security quite a lot because it seems like one of the more forgiving Pacts of Punishment, and I still think that Sure Footing is unneccessary. Sure traps kill me more, but overall it still feels like a "git good" situation to me rather then one that requires a specific boon to address, because if i can avoid traps properly i get another boon essentially. Of course if it works for you it works! -Mattsimus
I always run sword and knuckles and that damage reduction from bronze skin actually helps a lot especially combined with other damage reduction boons specially aphrodite
Neither did I! It's why I made sure to mention it in the guide, because the curse is actually pretty awesome with priveleged status and against bosses.
Correction: multiplicative means it is more impactful than additive, not less. For example +10% and +30% DR actually scales up to 43%, rather than 40 or 37 1*1.1*1.3=1.43 1(1+0.1+0.3)=1.4
Not when reducing damage. Start with a base of 100 damage. 10% reduction then 30%. 100 x .9 = 90 x .7 = 63 final damage. If it was 40% reduction it would be 60 damage dealt.
In summary, yes. Haha but it's hard to make a video that's only three seconds, and she does have some really excellent combos otherwise! Thanks for watching Toast Brains, I hope you enjoyed the video! -Mattsimus
My only issue with Divine Dash is its not a prerequisite for Merciful End and Deadly Reversal, when infact you can trigger these effects because dash can cause deflect, damage, and expose. Great video btw
That is a good point, for me that is not much of an issue though since I usually like to grab athena on an attack anyway. Thanks for making the great point! -Mattsimus
Honestly, I'm not sure if ancient Greeks were white, I believe they were shades of olive and the like as well (don't quote me I'm an engineer not a historian). In terms of why in Hades the gods are shown that way is probably because Supergiant is a fairly inclusive company that always has a diverse cast of characters in their stories as well as general themes of inclusivity and acceptance. The main character and race in bastion for example appear to be more similar to Spanish complexion then nordic/european. Also from an art design perspective it makes for much more interesting colour palettes and character designs. Because athenas skin is a cool ebony kind of colour her cold hued blues and golds stand out and help differentiate her visually from the other gods. Overall her palette is cold and gives a sense of detachment and discipline, and it would probably make her too similar to other gods if they tried to do that with a paler overall complexion. Another reason is just, hey it's Supergiants fiction based off of Greek mythology. They change a significant amount of details from the sort of zagreus mythos that they followed, and overall I like the changes they made, so why not illustrate the gods looking a little different from their expected depiction? I mean the Greek gods are fiction as well, so really it doesn't make much difference how you show them as long as the viewer understands who they are meant to be. That's my quick take on it at least. Thanks for watching! -Mattsimus
@@mattsimus7775 Yeah I'm suspecting that they were trying to be "inclusive" but I don't particularly like that. The other reasons seem quite plausible too. Thanks for the reply!
