I have a 2000 Honda Civic LX4door sedan. I had the codes P0420, P0430, P0705 @ P0706. I replaced the two oxygen sensors (upstream and downstream) and the spark plugs , wires and distributor cap and rotor. I reset the check engine light by removing the battery cable for about one minute and then placed it back. I then drove the civic for 75 miles and drove it right into the smog place. It passed with flying colors!!!
I have a 96 civic hatch, cat is going bad and is making the car run shitty. Im planning to remove the cat and completely gut it. Will I have to bypass the o2 sensor to get it run properly
I have a universal fit converter for this car with matching CA EO numbers. However, I can't see how it would be possible to install it. That is unless you are supposed to unbolt the old converter from the manifold and cut off both flanges from the converter and then weld them to the new convertor. Is that possible?

Most of the time the manifold cracks around the O2 sensor, cast iron is almost impossible to weld. You may be able to find a specialist that can weld cast.
Tech4Tech You can weld cast iron with a flux core wire feed welder as long as you prep correctly. Take a grinder and grind out a groove the full length of the crack, just deep enough to make room for the weld. The weld needs to penetrate both pieces of metal, not just cover the crack. Here's the most important part: in order to make sure that the weld lasts, the cast iron needs to be heated. Use a propane torch and slowly heat the metal by increasing the heat for about ten minutes. The hotter the cast iron, the better, get it close to cherry red. When it's nice and hot, connect the ground lead and lay down a nice hot bead into that groove. Use a slow speed and also move slow, it makes the weld even hotter. When that's done, Use the propane torch to slowly cool the finished piece, turning down the heat over the course of about ten to fifteen minutes. This is so that the cast will heat up so that it's somewhat near the temp of the weld, providing deep penetration, and so that it also cools with the weld, making it last. If you skip the heat up and cool down steps, it will most likely shatter. it's really not hard to weld cast. try it and let me know how it turned out.

dan tran remove the cable first and it resets the check engine light on. The check engine light should turn off.
O2 sensors monitor the converter...p0420/p0430 codes refer to separate banks in a V6 or V8. Bank one or two
Where did you get the manifold?
What bolt size screws did you use for the header (by condenser) ? The 4 screws that help converter keep stable
if the hole where the o2 sensor goes in to cracks, do you have to replace the whole catalytic coverter?
or get an exhaust manifold.
Unless you can find someone to weld cast iron, which is difficult to do and last

No, but it will turn the check engine light on. The cat will only effect performance if it is clogged so exhaust can’t get through.
Would th e crack cause poor acceleration and a rough idle, with without. A possible missfire on a V4 Santa fe 2004
sounds like your distributor is bad to me
@@bob15479 nope bad ignition coil causing missfire still, replaced both and problem resolved.
Possibly, more important are dangerous gases being able to enter the interior of your car

may have to remove the fan and bracket to allow some extra room, but a single piece manifold unbolted will come out the top

What’d you use to clean the head area of corrosion before installing gasket?
I used a die grinder with an aluminum pad. A straight razor blade would clean it up enough for the gasket to seal

How much would you charge for a job like this someone wants me to do this checked it out and saw a crack on the manifold.
