I bought a Portal before I bought my 1tb Oled. Tried both and they both work great. But I prefer the Portal for PS5. Mainly because it's a Dualsense handheld. Another small factor is I play on my Deck until it wants charging with my pc library. Then play on the Portal.

@@keithskoglund10 The best decidion I ever made, sold my portal and got the steam deck. But I use de PXPlay (former PSPlay) app to stream my ps5, it's paid but it's WAY better than Chiaki.
It should be noted that there is a future version of Chiaki4deck that will do HDR remote play. That just makes the OLED Steamdeck the best remote play device.

Great video, the bitrate details helped lag for me massively too, I had the settings too low and I was getting skips and frame drops often but this resolved the issue 😊
@@Guillermogarcia-jv7bd Yes. Unfortunately not the recent HDR settings work, this is only for the Oled model but you can run Chiaki and enhance the latency by adjusting the bitrates as mentioned in the video for a smoother streaming experience 👍🏻
@@Guillermogarcia-jv7bd you can change the button mapping in the settings of the deck but it's the screen itself you just need to tap near the bottom middle, at least that does it for me 👍🏻

I’m so old. My first computer was an Atari 800. When I hear people say open the app when it’s a program on a computer it drives me nuts. Imagine the movie Tron being remade and the guy says, “Hello apps!”
If you plan on dual booting windows you will need any basic laptop or desktop for downloading drivers etc. But you do not need a gaming pc to use the steam deck

I don’t know if the software has been updated since but the process seemed more simple on my end I just typed my psn id rather than going to the website and getting the psn id code thing. Seems to work ok either way 👍🏼
I had it at 720 for the longest time on my lcd because I somehow it came preset like that. Honestly doesn't change much performance wise but the quality of the image is god awful.
Yeah it can definitely help performance, but the color banding gets much worse in my experience when dropping to 720. I'd first recommend adjusting your bitrate at 1080p if you're having issues, then dropping the resolution if that doesn't work.

Tried many times but it would not connect bummer. It fails when I get the enable remote play code. I tried it with all the different PS4 options and it goes through the motions but at the end it fails.
Question: When I go to register the ps5 icon only pops up when my ps5 is connected to my wifi router. As soon as I switch to the wired connection I usually use it disappears.
I was on the cusp of ordering an oled steam deck (instead of portal) today until I saw this video and I have lost my enthusiasm now. I get really bad stuttering from time to time and the xrackle sound is annoying. Im even next to the router....how do i fix this for good? The normal chiaki works better but shows distortion:/
Hey i got up to register new and to put my psn online id it's blank it wont let me click to type anything?? Also my ps5 showed up in the beginning when you first download chiaki. You said there should be nothing there, so not sure if that means anything
The error you got at 6:03 I got the same. I’ve tried everything and cannot get past that point. SD and PS5 on same network. Got the PS ID in the correct format. Got the link code. Cannot get past it. Keep getting the same error you got. TBH this pretty much sums up my entire Steamdeck experience. But I’d love to figure this one out. Anyone else had this error, and know how to get past it?? I’ve even tried changing privacy settings on the PS5.

@@aaronmitchell1837 yea same with the rog ally its an overbuilt system with a terrible control scheme no touchpads whatsoever so if you do, have fun using the touch screen when u get tired of using the thumb sticks as a mouse. just put the steam deck on windows 11 its what i did don't see why you would waste ur money its clear you didn't do any research before making that decision. id think about that one a little harder.
Is it possible to Download ps5 Games from my ps+ library on to my Steak Deck. I have installed ps+ on my steam deck but i dont know how to Access my own Games? I want to Play them without my console being around.
I was able to get it to run. I ran into one issue where the deck asked for a login once ps5 woke up. I had to put in my pin in on the ps5. Once I did remote play worked. Any ideas? Multiple accounts on ps5 is the issue?
I think there's a note on the chiaki4deck website about setting things up for an account with a pin. It just adds some extra steps I believe. Link to the website is in the description! 🙂
hmmm... check to see if the name of the chiaki4deck app is still spelled correctly as "chiaki4deck" in your steam library. The community layouts are grabbed based on the name of the app I believe.

I set this up pretty much day one of getting my Steam Deck, however i had some crazy input delay which put me off. Also it disconnected soon after playing, which i think is down to the ps going into rest mode? I also read you need to have your tv on and the ps5 displayed otherwise it will disconnect?
I've never had an issue with my PS5 disconnnecting with the TV off. In fact, if you wake the PS5 from rest mode with chiaki your PS5 won't even send an HDMI-CEC signal to wake your TV up. The input delay issue could've definitely been an issue with the default chiaki app, give chiaki4deck a try and you should see better results. 🙂
You can but make sure you grab the community controller layout first, otherwise you won't be able to find it very easily. I'm also not 100% sure if your controller layout will stick if you change the name.
dude ur ps5 is on another level! I really like playing my ps5 through the steam deck but I do see the portal surpassing it with a better and more natural experience in due time. Also do u know how to get passed the start button in games like jak and daxter when streaming eith the steam deck cus I cant!! I have tried to find the proper input. portal no problem cus it's a dualsense.
if you have an oled sd remember to put the refresh rate at 60Hz, leaving it at 90Hz results in a less smooth experience since the ps5 streams at 60hz

i wonder how dropping to 720p would affect performance vs clarity, since steam deck is 800p. may have to try it myself

Why not just get a ps play sub and download the launcher in desktop and add it to your library?
