I got mine a little over a month ago. It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed a device as much as I’m enjoying the Steam Deck. It’s perfect for a busy dad that doesn’t have time to park in front of a console or PC to enjoy gaming.
Bought it January this year, and I'm still so in love with it. The amount of games I'm able to finish and all those sneaky gaming sessions I did. Made me genuinely love video games again. One of the best items I've bought in my life; it's up there with ergonomic office chair and a good bed lol
5:35 - I think this removable liner is only in the top model (1TB) decks - if you check the feature comparison it shows "carry case with removable liner" vs just "carry case"
I want that case, but I don't want the 1tb model because of that linen on the OLED screen that makes it lose quality on colors.... what to do what to do...
Brother, great video. I have had the Deck for 2 years, 2 different versions, and this is definitely one of the best videos I have seen for new users. Good work.
There are so many tips for new owners out there but this is by far the best. Actual useful info instead of the obvious stuff everyone knows or googles. Thanks! Can’t wait for mine to arrive
Hey man, thanks a lot for this video and the links bellow. I am getting my first ever steam deck next week as a bday present and this definitely will come in handy
I'm so jealous of the OLED owners, I was one of the people that waited in a queue for months for the original deck. I use my Steam Deck everyday and I wish I would have held off on the OLED for a better experience when I do have time for games.
@@JalapenoPrime lol I feel that I literally saved up and got the lcd for my birthday present for myself and then literally a month later they announced the oled version 😂 I tried contacting valve to do a swap and pay the difference but they didn’t want to do it lmao

you can also use the (...) button for shortcuts that use the steam button. like when you had to use both hands on the left side of the device to hold steam button and press the joystick to change contrast, you can just hole the (...) button and press up or down on the joystick. much more convenient when you're holding the device with both hands!
Will be more than a year or two, but they are partnering with the people who made the asus rogue alay thing. Hoping that it runs on Linux but has the hardware of the asus rogue

Valve is the GOAT gaming company. Excellent development catalog, an extremely customer first businesses model for Steam, and now one of the best gaming devices ever. My 5-10 year old selves would have been blown away by this handheld. It's convinced me to skip the PS5 and only upgrade when my PS4 can't even turn on. The OLED's battery, screen, customization, and ease of use are all incredible and has allowed me to play RPGs and games like Sekiro, Cuphead, Risk of Rain, etc in small increments throughout the day where I couldn't have played prior. If the new PS handheld isn't very good I'll just get my son the latest version of the Steamdeck at the end of the decade.
1tb OLED model comes with it, I have the old black one and it is removable. I don't really ever do though. You don't save much weight or footprint and if you're going somewhere with it I want to be sure it can take a bump and not just be protected from scratches
Great video I had mine for few years. You said you can remove the velcro from case and take a smaller one out. Mine don't have velcro or a smaller one. Did valve change the case over the years and the older ones you can't do that? Everything else you said worked for me though.
@@Redy-k8pHad mine since August(Black) and can confirm it still looks brand new and hast received a wipe down yet. It gets a ton of use, not a case queen at all
4:55 If you click the steam button under the trackpad while in a game and scroll down to the bottom you can exit the game from there. Personally I just save my game and exit to the main menu, then exit the game the way I just described before choosing another game. Or if the game has the option just exit to desktop. Basically the same way you'd do it on PC
I bought a cheap one when the older models were on sale, it works great, the screen is big enough for me but the battery life is not very good. I have to charge it after 2 hours and I'm not even playing really demanding games. Also I ran out of story pretty quickly.
Hey I’ve been using windows on steam deck for quite a few months but recently I got a problem on windows The problem is that whenever I try to run *any* game I get a huuuuge amount of lag even in the games I used to run very smoothly and the cpu usage goes extremely high .
