A device like this would be perfect for my work in IT. I have 7 different offices that I travel to and right now im using a 15 inch laptop. It is always a pain to have to carry this around in a laptop bag and haul it out and carry it around all day. With this device I can load all my work software and walk around like im using my phone to do everything. I think I am going to mark this as my next purchase when my macbook pro 2012 non retina bites the dust.
Hey man, try checking out the GPD Micro! It's much cheaper and made to hold in your hands so you can stand and type (although the downside of that is you can't put it on your lap easily and type), and has WAYYYYY more useful ports for IT purposes!
I am using Mix 2s at this moment. Agree on the typing is kind of difficult as it don't have full keyboard size. One of the option is to use Voice Dictate function for input. It is an alternative I am using instead of typing in.
I personally think everything on the design is good, aside from the keyboard layout. you need to apply certain force to fold and unfold the screen, but everything else seems quite right.
GPD just announced a refresh of their Pocket 2 with the same M3-8100Y. Would be very interesting to see a comparison between the Yoga 2S and refreshed Pocket 2, and how they stack against the 7y30.
@@robertm3951 In theory, yes. But there's more than theoretical speed when it comes to such small devices. Cooling can play a big role in real performance. Then, there's the ergonomics side. More to the point, it would be nice to see the performance difference between the 7y30 and 8100y, as we're starting to see Pocket 2's with the former start to pop-up in the second hand market for substantial discounts compared to their original price.
I bet gpd goes cheap on the flash storage and ram to keep the cost down. I don't mind ddr3 ram, please just use flash storage with at least sata speeds.
There should be a small 8 inch slim windows 10 tablet with a pen powered with core m3 or snapdragon 850. Let the user turn it into a desktop at home with a larger external monitor and a full-sized keyboard. Or carry it as a tablet or a mini computer with optional third party Bluetooth keyboard covers.
@@honantong I have one, Dell is such a let down, it's horrible, it lags so much it's not even worth giving away. No external display capabilities, the pen and display sucks big time. You'd be better off with a $60 Chinese Windows 10 basic tablet.
Does the USB-C port supports DP Alt-mode to output video directly? My portable monitor only has USB-C input (Asus MB16AC) and doesn't have HDMI. Will it support?
Have you ever try to charge this item by using powerbank? I am trying to using power bank (several types of powerbanks) with the type C cable but it does not work.

@@_Digitalguy At one point I was going to cancel my pre order for the Pocket 2 and order a OMY2S, you know? Main reasons being the backlit keyboard, SSD, 8th Gen M3, and Yoga hinges. However, they then removed the backlight due to unconfirmed issues. Then I learnt the 8th Gen M3 also runs a lot hotter, and furthermore, you can now buy the Pocket 2 with it! Then I learnt the SSD itself runs the computer hotter too. Then I heard of a person saying the Yoga hinges on their OMY1 were frail and dangling... Overall I am Happy with my decision. Just wish the Pocket 2 had a backlight. eMMC isn't that big of a deal, believe me.
I have this one and the surface pro. so, I don't own a go, but I believe that would be as powerful as this one, and offer you more battery life. don't expect a better performance from this than what you would get from a go.

I think Dell has one venue 8 pro , there are several under this name, i think the one with 7486 or some number is the higher end model.
