    You can buy repair manuals for these jet skis. I bought one for mine and it saved me a lot of money from having the dealer repair it. The manual shows how to check and repair everything on it, even how to rebuild the engine. Well worth the price to buy one.

    The Seadoo has 3 2 stroke oil lines, one small one to each carb intake and one large one that goes to the bottom of the block. If you are going to premix the gas, you may not be getting enough oil into the bottom end. Engine may not run for long. Best bet is to restore the origional oil system. Good luck with them, they cleaned up nice

    I will tell you the early Seadoo and Yamaha's were notorious for the Honeycomb/aka resinator fails and when they do it restricts flow through the exhaust, they sell what is called a D-Plate which eliminates that resinator but still allows back pressure, just keep that in mind

      That Yamaha xl800 was a score! Having trunk and frunk bins included is a little rare these days too!
      Just chiming in my .02. Not sure if its been mentioned but The dash only turns on when cranking and running and shuts off 10 seconds after stopped. Theres also an hour meter built in there too.
      One thing I didn’t notice in the vid, but if you crank the ski and don’t allow it to start, the power valve actuator should cycle a full open close stroke to clean the valve.
      I don’t think that unit has a catalytic converter, if it does, its pretty standard practice these days to remove it and install a cat delete plate (D-plate) also, if the previous owner has not done so, I highly recommend getting a set of Wave eater brand power valve clips. Takes out the slop and makes it impossible to drop a valve into the motor from the linkage walking off.
      Other than that, the 800s are considered pretty durable and she’ll sell quick if you’re flipping it.
      Other than that, check out the “Yamaha wave runner 2 stroke” group on FB. Tons of great helpful people there who are very knowledgeable.
      Enjoy the ski! See ya on the water!

  • @mikeparker7243
    @mikeparker7243 2 года назад +3

    never run it without those oil lines hooked up! Unless your premixing your gas. Ours are on 50:1 premix. I got a block-off plate for ours. The dash is typical. Won't be on unless your putting your code in or the engine is running. Other than that its always off. Oil injection is proportional to engine rpm. More oil will come out at higher rpms. Very good design. People that have had issues, don't maintain their oil system like they should. Ours have replacement engines and it calls for premix instead of using oil injection for whatever reason.

    I'm glad I cam across your video. I have a question, on the gtx after you put the carb back in noticed when you try to start it would just "thud" any idea why it's doing that? Getting my ass kicked on a 97 gtx, hard to crank especially with both plugs in

    • @TheHomePros6221

      thank you!! well it could be a couple of things, solenoid could be bad, starter motor could be bad, it could be getting flooded very quick so make sure carb isn’t leaking and is set correctly, could be somthing internal like a bent rod also

    For future refrence the yamaha gauges are supposed to do exactly what they are doing , because they do not have a battery switch or key etc , when you crank it turns it on , when motors off it goes into sleep mode

    • @TheHomePros6221
      @TheHomePros6221  Год назад

      mine wasn’t cranking at all with the switch, the dash has what’s called a pass lock system and it’s common to go bad so the start button won’t work, once I swapped the wires I bypassed the pass lock and now the switch works along with the gauges and everything works like factory and still has the security code.

    Sounds like you got a cracked Reed, oil injection is only a lil bit of a spurt, but if you delete it you save a few pounds, if you pull carbs on any 2 stroke, you should also be pulling and inspecting the Reeds and Reed cage as well since it's only a few more bolts to rem9ve since it's right behind the carb

    If you connect water hose to your flush adapter you fest start the engine for 5 second's then turn on water when your dune turn off water first then turn off the engine . You never want to put water in to your jet ski if the engine is not running first if you do it will damage your jet ski. I see on line 15 second's max with no water going to the jet ski I hope this helps some good luck on them

    Great video. Even though you had the Mikuni parts breakdown, I doubt you needed it as you have such intuitive skills. Were you tempted to fix the Seadoo oil injection pump? What do you do with the old gas? Some run it thru a coffee filter and use it in their fuel injected cars. That makes me nervous. I have no place that recycles old gas. Kind Regards, Craig
