    It's best to bypass the oil tank and go straight pre mix gas. If the oil pump goes while riding which is very common for older machines you will blow up the engine.

    • @ar2043
      @ar2043 Год назад +4

      Many people choose to do that, and I can understand why. But not on the direct injected machine from Polaris. If he gets rid of the oil pump, how is he going to get lubrication to the lower end of the motor? He's not. The fuel is injected directly on top of the piston. The oil pump has three outlets with the one going to each cylinders lower end. Never remove the oil pump on a direct injection unit.

  • @jacksonelliott1
    @jacksonelliott1 Год назад +28

    On those old seadoos always replace fuel lines if they are grey. The grey lines break down with ethanol and clog up your carbs. I would also suggest replacing the small oil pump lines running to your intake and triple check that your oil pump is functioning correctly. If you want peace of mind you can delete oil injection and run premix. It costs more because it uses more oil but for me it is worth it. I have 4 of these old seadoos and they are insanely fun to ride and wrench on. Also keep an eye on your plugs to make sure it isn't running lean but you're a two stroke guy you know how that works. Keep wrenching!

    • @gageevans1247
      @gageevans1247 10 месяцев назад +1

      A bigger issue is when those lines are when they are connected the plastic liner is known to fold up inside the line and cause a clog.

    Some machines have a "key" for a beginner mode that limits the speed. That may, or may not be the issue. Also, you don't want to start those in shallow water. They will suck up rocks into the impeller. Great score.

    • @ar2043
      @ar2043 Год назад +2

      All very accurate information. And I haven't watched the video yet, but if the Sea-Doo seems to be running OK but doesn't make enough power under load out on the water, check the RAVE valves and bellows. The valves can be stuck or there can be a tear or a hole in the bellows not allowing the valves to lift and losing 4 to 500 RPM on the top end. Also, make sure the oil injection pumps are hooked up. Some people delete them and run pre-mix. If the next owner doesn't know that or doesn't notice it, bye-bye two-stroke. That Sea-Doo 110 is one of the most solid motors out there when rebuilt and taken care of correctly. Anyhow, I'm actually going to go watch the video now. I will be back here a lot though because you are barking right up my tree with Watercraft.

      Good point and I absolutely agree. He really has to get a flashlight in there and check out everything. And intake grate, impeller, wearing etc. etc. etc. Also on a separate note, it's OK to run them for 10 or 12 seconds but he needs to realize that the water is also used to keep the drive shaft seals and bearings cool. If he runs them too long without a hose on them, he could burn up the drive shaft seals and bearings. And of course he needs to know that if he puts it on a hose and runs it, it engine on then the water and then when he's done it's turn off the water then shut off the engine or he could wind up filling his engine with water through the exhaust.

    • @bflat99
      @bflat99 Год назад +1

      Great info. Also if your rpms give you problems on the water, check the voltage regulator. You can pull the red wire off and the problem will go away (except your battery won't charge). This is a quick way to diagnose.
      I didn't watch the video yet, but if you have grey fuel lines, they HAVE to be replaced and the carb will need cleaned. They make this green goo that clogs the fuel system.
      Another common problem is a leaking oil tank. The bottom grommet is cheap to replace.
      If your lcd display is booked, they make a replacement diffuser film for cheap. And chances are, your fuel gauge will need repaired. Tons of youtube videos for that.
      Lastly, if you add a battery tender, put an inline power switch to prevent the tender from backfeeding the computer while it sits.

It had around 65 hours on it and was owned by a guy in his 40s that only used it when his grandkids would come for a weekend now and then. It literally looked new and had a new cover and matching lifejacket. Fast forward to now it's been modded and has a turbo on it. Easily a 100mph ski and it's one of the rare ones with reverse which is very handy for trailering. And yes it came with the matching trailer for it. You can try Land Rover but more than one auto make, makes some just like that that go right into the top of the fuel tank. I've seen a Land Rover and one other make that looks like that on top of the fuel tank on vehicles. but if you talked to a few car mechanics and show them pictures of that fuel pump setup from the top one of them will know what's very very close but legally watercraft mechanics probably couldn't tell you to try that.

    When using penetration oil before compression, arent you sealing it preventing blow by if it is low compression? On cars if we read low compression we put a cap full of oil in the cylinder hole and re do compression cause it allows us to pin point that when the oil seals the pistons it will go up in compression concluding its blow by on the pistons and not 100% a stuck valve.

    OK I'm chiming in one more time I got a little trick for you that I learned having boats and sea doos when you put them in the water have an extra long rope that's tied to the bow of those things and then tie the rope to the back of the trailer really good back to truck in until they float off and then slowly pull forward pull the slack out of the rope and they'll just kind of lightly run with the trailer then you get out of the truck and just grab 1 you never get wet never have to jump on the back of the tailgate or anything.
    p.s check the laws on that lake because lake homeowners are some of the biggest Karen's around.

    I wouldn't be to surprised if you could find parts for the fuel system in a spare parts catalogue for Polaris snowmobiles. It would make sense to use the same parts and engines in both.

    Make sure to check fuel pressure on the Polaris. If it's not over 25 psi you will burn up a cylinder. The Genesis is the smallest legal 4 seater ever made. I have one with a shuttlecraft

    A lot of the guys in the Polaris PWC community would ditch the fitch fuel injection, and convert the to Carbs.
    I got ahold of one of those engines. Converted it to Carb. And installed it in an SL700 hull.
