New sub here from Oregon. Love fishing salt water! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 🙏 how’s the fishing in Oregon right now?
@@609Fishing it’s great but my boat is out of commission! 😩
Also feel free to check out my channel if you care to.
I like how they make these jigs under a 3/4 normally tog jigs are made where 3/4 is the lightest they make
The lighter ones are easier to work with imo
Yo man! Slayed em yesterday at Corsons, lost 7 sweepers but well worth it. Sand fleas work best
Great to hear!!!
What’s up man! Great vid. Hitting Tog this weekend in OC! Keep the vids coming man
Good luck 👍 👍 I hope you catch em up 🙏🙏🙏
Great video learned a new technique as always!!!
Thanks man can’t wait to get you back out again 👍
Nice 👍 catch !! Those bottom sweeper jigs are no joke !! Thank you for the video !!
Thanks for watching Charles 🙏🙏🙏
how com you are not using a leader
In that spot, I haven’t seen a difference between using a leader & not
Awesome video man. Those were all nice ones. Nothing like Tog on light tackle. And we went thru over 6 dozen crabs
Yeah sometimes I get lucky lol crazy how you can blow through that many crabs in such a short timespan! Love your Tog videos!
@@609Fishing Thanks buddy
Love tog fishing
The Fishing Dream same here brother ✊✊✊
Really love tog on the jig. By the way, your comment at 9:50, “Not going to be stupid enough to put my fingers in its mouth.” You can totally do that. They will not bite you. 👍🏻
Nothing better than Togging with jigs, so much more fun opposed to fishing rigs
Try 2 feet of 20 pound mono leader.
I’ll definitely give it a shot, thanks for the advice ✊✊✊
Nice video joe. Hopefully I'll get to be able to go for tog today. Dads frustrated already with surf fishing.
How’d you guys do this weekend?
@@609Fishing not so good. He gets impatient easily. And I'm not really familiar with tog fishing but we tried and had a good time. I'll reach out to you sometime about coming down and fishing.
Sounds good, hit me up on Instagram 👍
@@609Fishing will do
Those bottom sweepers are great all praise to the insomniac sheeper!
He is a King🤴
Nice video, Watching you fish tog fish is cool it reminds me that I need to get out of Indiana and fish for something else but freshwater bass.
You gotta get to the salt!!! It’s very addicting
I wish those bottom sweepers had a slightly smaller hook sometimes
Yeah I notice when the small Tautog are in, it can be difficult to catch em on the 2/0 or bigger
Really good video, I haven't caught or eaten one of those in years. I might have to go out to Eastern Shore to target them this week
I hope you do! they are really good eating 🍽
@Steven GENNERO Bootz Personally I start with the 3/4 ounce and move up as the tide moves, but I try to use the least amount of weight that holds bottom. If I’m fishing shallow I move to 1/4 & 1/2 oz
Great video. Just a piece of advise use a rag to hold the tog it makes it a lot easier to take the hook out 👍
Yeah I’m definitely going to use one the next time 👍
It’s addicting isn’t it? Great video on tog.
Oh yeah they are definitely one of my favorite species to target 👌 thanks for watching 🙏
Nice video, what tide do you fish for them in? Slack, or does it not matter
As long as there’s moving water they should be biting. The only time I never had great success with them is during slack. Personally I think it varies where you’re fishing, if you’re fishing near an inlet where you have cleaner water I don’t think it matters whether it’s incoming or outgoing. I do notice the bite is much better on clean water days 👍
@@609Fishing that's cuz they stay inshore(jetties, bulkheads, backbays) for a quick bite at the 7 eleven before they head out into the ocean once the water gets colder. Also I've fished for them in January before and even then they're pretty sluggish and it's usually more of a pick that anything
Man I need to catch one of them.
They are a fun species to target. Great fighters and they taste great 👍 thanks for watching 🙏
Joe, you and Mike (M&K) are the Tog Kings. Spectacular fishing, guys, and great info on the sweeper jigs. Gotta get me some and give it a try. Do you know of any local B&T shops that carry them? Thanks.
I don’t know about being a Tog King 😂 but thank you for watching! You can get those jigs in pretty much every bait and tackle shop in South Jersey. I just order mine online to support the guy who created them.
Rich, thank you for the kind words, im still learning the bite. Tog fishing is so addictive and especially on the jigs. Thanks for being an awesome supporter to both our channels!, it is very much appreciated
Avalon hodge podge sells them
Use Bill Howards "Bank Robber" jigs very reasonable just a good as Bottom Sweepers never had an issue with them and he makes awesome colors
Yeah it’s crazy last time I went to the local bait shop they had 6 different brands of Tog Jigs 😳 I’ll definitely have to check them out!
How long do they stay inshore?
Personally I think it’s water temperature that dictates that. I’ve noticed over the years the bite becomes inexistent once the water drops below 50 in the back bay. Last year I went the first week in November & did well, went 5 days later & they were gone (water temp was below 50). Which is interesting because they are a cold water fish 🤷♂️
Last year cought a tog on the surf and it came off
That’s crazy were you near a jetty?
@@609Fishing nah the main beach in obx with people swimming
May I suggest a wool glove on your left hand to grab the fish. You can control the fish and not drop it. Banging up the fish is not healthy for them.
Also some guys wait till the jig moves before setting the hook to target only biguns.
Also, lots of guys are mounting those fw electric trolling motors with GPS on the bow. Keeps you in place over any structure.
Great video. I really enjoy your enthusiasm. Tog get in your blood just like fluke.
Yeah honestly next time I should bring gloves. Thanks for watching 🙏
son
😂
Great day out there brotha!! You slayed the tog. I just started fishing for tog and it’s one of my new favorites to catch and eat! They are delicious. That 18” tog you caught was fat! Nice video
Yeah they are absolutely delicious 🤤 thanks for watching!
Nice job, my boat is finally back after being down for a bit. Heading out Friday and this got me geared up to hit them
Thanks for watching 🙏 good luck, make sure you bring enough crabs 😂 don’t make my mistake
